I have been flying since 1986 and instructing since 1995. During that time I have accumulated over 10,000 hours in airplanes and helicopters, with over 8,000 hours of dual flight instruction given. I have been instructing full time in airplanes since 1995 under the business/​website name Lets​Fly​SanDiego​.com. I instruct independently utilizing club aircraft at Montgomery Airport and am available for Private Pilot instruction, Commercial Pilot instruction, Instrument Pilot Instruction, Multi-​Engine Instruction, Aircraft Checkouts, Biennial Flight Reviews, Instrument Proficiency Checks, Currency Training, Local Area Orientations, and Introductory Flights on a Full-​time basis. I instruct because I enjoy instructing, not for time building. Therefore, my training programs are focused on training quality and safety while trying to keep costs down

I made the mistake of flying with another CFI out of Carlsbad, for about a month before realizing he was more interested in logging in-​air hours than he was interested in teaching me how to fly. That’s ultimately how I came to find Bruce. Not only is he thorough, and places a very big emphasis on safety, he’s an actual «teacher» who has been helping prep student pilots for years. My only regret is not having reached out to him sooner.

Bruce Elig is a phenomenal flight instructor. He is patient, competent, safe, and extremely thorough. I earned my private pilot certification with his help and I am certain I am a safer and better pilot because of his instruction.
I am in the military and did this qualification in the evenings and weekends. He offered me a very flexible schedule and went above and beyond to ensure I was ready for my check ride. If you are looking for a flight instructor, I recommend you call and talk to several people. Ensure Bruce is on your list and I guarantee he is the guy you will choose.

I bought a «Learn to Fly» experience for my boyfriend for his 21st birthday, and I was a little nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. But Bruce Elig made everything fun, easy, and above all, SAFE. I could not be more happy about this experience, and would definitely recommend for anybody out there looking for a likewise experience. Bruce Elig is a highly professional and knowledgeable flight instructor based out of Montgomery Field in San Diego. I received training from him for my private, instrument, and commercial ratings and would recommend him over anybody else out there. He has a wealth of aviation knowledge and is dedicated to producing SAFE pilots. He’s a career freelance instructor and is available all the time and is way more affordable than all the flight schools out there. He doesn’t nickel and dime you and really puts in the time and effort to making you the best and most safe pilot possible. I’m an instructor myself and draw a lot of my knowledge and teaching techniques from him. If you’re looking at getting flight training, a BFR, an IPC or to brush up on your stick and rudder skills, Bruce is the man for the job.
