Refs are GARBAGE! It’s like they don’t know the game. They are there to protect players, not at this place! Plan on getting hurt. Whatever team is friends with the ref will win the match.

Ok, this is my opinion about this place:
BAD
Lisa is not there anymore…
Referees, really bad, they don’t know too much about soccer, futsal or indoor soccer at all.
Parking, you have to go early, super early. it is hard to park in that area.
Game Hours. 5pm-11:40pm. really bad if you have to work late, traffic or if you have to work the next day.
Teams, everything mix, bad teams with good teams, if you do not have a team and you are new in SD good luck, you pay and you figure it out in the fill how is your team.
Soccer balls. low quality.
Over 40 league is super slow because there are guys over 50 or 60 playing there. coed, kids, personally I do not like to play coed, only 3 touches, that is terrible

The good team about this place is
the cages, to protect your bags from thieves.
You can play in other teams if these teams need players for a game, this is not for the whole season but who knows.
It is not to expensive for one season of 10 games, true.
They sell shin guards if you do not bring yours.
People from the whole globe play there.
Rain? Yeah you will play
Summer? Courtesy of the house cold water and fans inside the cages.
There are racks for your bikes, bring your cables and U-​looks.
Discount in beers in some bars around the area, be careful the area is full of pigs.
Leagues: Open, over 30 and kids.
Warning:
Do not forget extra money for the referees.
Do not pet the cat who lives there, sometimes bite.
Be careful with douche-​bags in the field, the blind referees allowed dirty play, respond in the same way but be careful with the blue cards.
Do not forget your uniform, otherwise you will have to use very dirty and smelly vests.
Some teams use one or two girls in the field, rules of the place.

I’ve been playing here for several years.
The pros:
There’s a division for every skill level and age
There are rarely any forfeits since there are players willing to pick up extra games
There’s no breaks between seasons, you can play soccer all year round
They recently upgraded the fields and the bench area has a shade now.
Its relatively cheap for a 10 week season.
The cons:
5PM, 11 PM games on weeknights
Now that there are three fields parking can be challenging, get there early
Sometimes the divisions aren’t really balanced. The relegation/​promotion system helps a little but sometimes it seems pretty random.
Anyways I’ve read a lot of negative reviews regarding the staff but in general they have been helpful and I’ve never had any problems.

Love everything about this place instead its kinda hard to reach them on phone and email so you have to come to the place for info but still a great atmosphere no doubt

I’ve been playing at the water tower since 2007, and when I first started I would have given a significantly higher rating. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill in the past year or so especially. The staff is not at all helpful – most are rude. None of them look like they want to be there. Their answer to everything is, «there’s nothing we can do,» or «talk to the manager.» The manager, Mindy, has yet to respond to any of the emails or phone messages that I have left for her.
The factor that most strongly affects my rating is the referee staffing. We pay ref fees each game for the refs to do their jobs – and they are not doing their jobs. I have seen refs talking to their buddies on one team or another – how can the other team expect to get fair calls with obvious favoritism present? I have seen refs talk back, or more accurately, argue with players on the field – completely turning away from the play to make sure they have the last word. And most troubling, I have seen refs not make calls – not caring to even try to keep the game under control – which has resulted in injury; ugly, escalating tension and outbursts; and sloppy, dangerous play. The refs – and the rest of the staff – aren’t doing their jobs, and it is sucking the fun out of the facility.
As someone who has invested literally thousands of dollars into the place, I am disappointed to see how poorly the facility is being staffed and managed. Very seriously considering going elsewhere.
I would advise going somewhere else for recreational soccer leagues. There are many better-​managed options available here in San Diego.

Ok place. The customer service is awful. They have a bunch of teens running the place, some are ok, but the majority are rude and disrespectful

I have played soccer here for a long time. They do a pretty good job. The fields are gold, staff is cool and it’s a fun place to play.

The boy loves it here. He has played the last 3 seasons with random kids. I left his info with the desk and everytime they need an extra I get a call. I love that he is super easy going and was happy to play with a bunch of kids he didn’t know.
The boy plays ok and coaches from other places always invite him to play on their teams. It’s like a meat market if you’re a good player but he enjoys the attention. Shoot unless they are from FIFA they can just watch him play. I’m the typical soccer mom cheering him on and yelling at bad calls.
The refs ave been pretty decent, in every season there are the normal missed calls once and a while but nothing too heart breaking. I’m just happy they are keeping my baby off the streets. It’s hard to keep a boy busy. Thanks let’s play soccer! Meet me at the water tower!

Fields are nice. Games are competitive. Parking is bad. Some of the staff is nicer than others but the refs do a great job. No complaints here.

Reading the reviews… so much anger out there! Everyone needs to relax. All of the complaints have one thing in common: they didn’t like the soccer, or the level of play into which they were slotted, or the attitude of the staff (probably in relation to one of the above). All things that happen at any soccer center.
But I like the soccer, I like the level of play, and I’m quite happy with the staff.
I am VERY happy here. Not only are the new fields fantastic (and safe), but in my experience, the staff does an excellent job of accommodating the often-​ridiculous requests made by each of — what, 60+ weekly leagues, each with 8 teams/​10 players — the math says 4 – 5 THOUSAND people. Each week.
There are leagues for every level on every day/​night. The youth leagues are as good as they come — all three of my kids play here on Saturdays, and absolutely love it. Yes, some seasons there are lopsided opponents (both ways)…but at least we’re not playing the same 2 teams 4x each, like at the Mission Valley YMCA. And in the end, my kids are way better off because of the experience.
The area is just fine — I’ve been coming for many years with no issues, including bringing my family.
I guess I’m biased, because I end up here 3x/​week — but it’s not like I’m paid to be biased — I end up here 3x/​week because it’s a great place. Just like everything in life: ignore the negative reviews, try it out, and go from there.

I have been playing soccer here for 15 years. I play every Wednesday evening.
Parking is street or at the adjacent park. The area surrounding the entry is dark and seedy, and I feel hesitant to bring my family.
The water tower league has the youngest median age of any of the indoor facilities I have played (Both Sportsplexes, La mesa, El Cajon, Mission Valley YMCA). The play is faster and more aggressive. They have many skill divisions, so any level player should eventually settle in a league that fits.
The referees are mostly young as well and the professionalism is a step below the county’s other venues. The scorekeepers keep track of goals and post them during the week. Making the top goalscorers list is a fun aspiration. It’s $ 600 per team for a 10 game schedule and a $ 12 referee fee per game.
Pros:
Less forfeits. I appreciate that if I make the drive that I will play. Whether it’s filling in players to bolster needy teams or playing through most inclement weather, the league does a great job of keeping the games going. I prefer to play in a competitive game and win or lose honestly rather than have a non game.
Cons:
Scheduling. The latest weekday games are at 11:20pm which is a tough thing to ask for working folks to make with any enthusiasm. It’s also one of the only leagues I have heard of that isn’t exclusive to the night of the week. I play in a Wednesday Men’s Division that has at least one game per season on a Saturday which could pose a problem for some. They also have a rough time placing teams in appropriate divisions. Too many slaughters or easy matches.
This year they upgraded the facility and added a 3^rd full size field and a practice field, and the new fields are beautiful. As one of the institutions of indoor soccer in San Diego, it’s a decent option for your recreational futbol.

This place is the absolute worst. Don’t be fooled by the new field, the staff that run this place (with the exception of one– brown hair, cut short, lady) are absolutely awful. They do not care about anything except getting paid, which can’t be much based on rudeness. They over charge for teams to play then throw you in a high league against teams that blow you out. We asked to be put in a lower league, where the games would be more competitve and we were told theres nothing they can do. Mind you this was after our season and before a season began.
ps. the blonde chick that works there. You aren’t attractive so stop acting like your shit dont stink. Maybe take a shower sometimes too.

Unfortunately I created an account just to write a review about this place. Wait, that’s not even fair. I’m on here to write a review about ONE STAFF MEMBER. Yeah, I’m talking about you, lady. Blonde hair. Probably mid-30’s, early 40’s. I drove 15 miles to this place to get information (website wasnt clear on some things) and what do I get? Rude customer service. It’s like I was bothering her with every single question I was asking. Look, I’m sorry you hate your job… maybe your life, but it doesnt mean you have to take it out on us. How is this good for business? I’m over here trying to attain information so I can sign up a team, which means hundreds of dollars for your business, maybe thousands in the long term over years, and you decide to act like you’re mad at the world? I dont get it. Some people will always be bitter with life, I guess. By the way, I ran into another staff on my way out. Curly hair… in her 20’s I’d say. Great personality and was exceedingly amiable. Thanks for being great to a potential customer. Now if only ALL the staff were like you, this would definitely be a better place. Sad.

On Feb 16 2014 at approx. 1930 I was approached by A woman named Amy explaining that I could not have my dog within their facility. I then explained that my dog is a Service animal and helps me with my PTSD. She said that I was still not welcome and I had to leave. She asked me for my paperwork for my animal (as it is against the law to ask for certification)
BYLAW: A public entity or a public accommodation «shall not ask about the nature of extent of a person’s disability, but may make two inquiries to determine whether an animal qualifies as a service animal. [They] may ask if the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform. BUT MAY NOT ASK FOR PROOF.
I then said I will not leave, i am allowed to have my service animal in any establishment, and it is against the law for you to kick me out. She said that’s fine I’ll get my manager. Devon then approached me and said «sorry you can’t have your dog within this facility, service animal or not. you need to leave» I calmly refused to leave he said fine and stopped the game until i left. I of course got up so the guys can finish their game. From the walk from one field to the exit, there were some profane words that came from my mouth, and Devon said i was then no longer welcome at the facility because of my language only to get away from the fact that he was really kicking my service dog and I off the premises. I then got tired of waiting for the police to arrive to try and rectify the situation so I went back in and showed them my paper work signed by a LT at MCRD of a mental health facility that states his recommendation and reasoning for my service animal (which is the only thing i had on me at the time), and with Devon’s smug tone he said it is only a recommendation not an authorization. He didn’t even want to resolve the situation nor had any empathy for my well being nor did he want to work with me for the night until i was able to get the national registration for my service animal that is typically left at home. ***IT IS AGAINST THE CIVIL RIGHTS DISABILITY LAW TO DENY ME THE RIGHT TO ENJOY MYSELF AT ANY PUBLIC ESTABLISHMENT***

I’m in the same boat as others that never write reviews, but this place is like the Twilight Zone of horrific customer service so I just couldn’t refrain from commenting. Common sense is obviously not something anyone at the facility has a concept of.
I was attending my 6 year olds game with my 10 year old daughter and my father who has Parkinson’s. There was no seating at the field except for a small picnic table and the two players benches. Fortunately, we had brought a chair for my dad but the only place to watch the game seated was from the corners of one end of the field due to the high boards on the side. The other end was closed due to «construction» although there was no evidence of such.
It was a very warm day and my daughter had just finished 3 hours of dance practice. She began to feel lightheaded so I had her sit down on our players bench which was empty because we were shorthanded. I was immediately commanded by the scorekeeper to have her move, I explained the situation and he said he didn’t care in a very unpleasant manner and that she couldn’t sit there. She ran off in tears because he was so rude. I immediately went to the office and spoke to two individuals and received a similar ungracious response «its our policy that only players and 2 coaches can be on the bench, and it doesn’t matter that she is sick». So she had to sit in my fathers chair and he had to stand for over half the game.
I’ve played at a number of indoor soccer facilities and this place is a piece of work. I definitely would not recommend it for your children even without the staff’s incompetency, as there are no stands and due to the high boards it makes it difficult to watch your child play. Additionally, parking is on-​street only and the neighborhood is very sketchy.

I never write reviews. Like, seriously, never. But this place is terrible. The staff is beyond rude and a little racist.
I play the race card even less frequently than I write reviews. However, the ref refused to give me change for my ref fees because I «looked like I would pass counterfeit money»
He then stopped another ref from giving me change, siting the same reasoning.
He created a big scene and stopped the game and refused to let us continue until I walked across the street and got change from the liquor store and came back.
Another player had to pay, a player he was more comfortable accepting money from. And we were allowed to continue.
I must point out that this person was an employee who was hanging around during his free time. He was not reffing our game, nor was he working the scorers table. He was just hanging around chatting up the girl who was.
I complained to management about the staffs treatment of me, and didn’t even get an apology.
Racist might be a little strong, But Im the only player on my team that «looks like» me. And the week prior the same guy gave someone else change with out question.
Considering the cost and weighing it against the experience,
I could not recommend this place to anyone.

I rarely write reviews. Only because I don’t really read other reviews cause I like to experience things for myself. But this place is that frustrating.
I have played 2 seasons here. The first was a Co-​Ed league that actually wasn’t too bad. Aside from the bogus rules of girls goals count as 2 and guys can only touch the ball 4 times before dishing the ball, it was pretty fun.
I am currently in the middle of a season for an all guys league. When I signed up my team, I noticed there was an area for notes about the team. Now knowing that over half the guys I was playing with had never played soccer before, let alone indoor, i thought it would be pertinent to put that in the notes. Especially since I was told that we wouldn’t be put in a league until after the first game so they could «judge» what league we should be in. That made sense to me. And seemed somewhat fair, especially if they take into account what was said in the notes.
Well apparently the notes and the game made 0 difference as to where we were put as far as divisions go. We paid 600 dollars to go out and have fun. Maybe win a couple games and most of all, get some exercise, which because we were put in division 4 out of 7, IS A LOT.
We have yet to win a game (5 total) and have yet to lose a game by less than 7 goals. In total we have only scored 6 goals. We are obviously in last place and compared to the other teams, we have 6 total points. The next team up has 23. We also have the most goals against us at 50. The next team up from that is at 30. It would be one thing if i was sitting here and bitching about my team sucking. But these are the stats that are on their website. And these stats are happening because, despite my efforts, we we’re put into a division that we do not belong in.
I decided to mention this to the staff after week 2 (knowing that they probably wouldn’t be able to do anything, maybe some sort of a small refund, no ref fees, SOMETHING). I was told that the divisions are final and that they stand by where they put us. If i had that big of an issue I could write the manager an email. Which I did. Zero response.
Again, we have already paid and the season is half over, so there isn’t much I would expect them to do. But the least they could is admit they messed up. We are out their to have fun, and if that includes losing, FINE, but losing by at least 7 goals every game against guys who are in the majority better than most of the guys on our team, IS NOT FUN. And they are unwilling to do the very least of admitting they messed up, or anything else for that matter.
I’m not telling anyone to stay away from here. I enjoy playing indoor regardless. But there are better places to play, and honestly, better people to run this place.

Congrats to my team Soccersaurus Rex for winning FIRST PLACE AGAIN in this season’s Division II Soccer last night! We officially move up to Division I! The toughest and highest Division!
Only because I absolutely love my team and enjoy playing indoor, I am a fan of Let’s Play Soccer. But yes, the staff are rude, they aren’t real professionals, and some of the refs, I swear play favors. But anyway, you can join a league or get picked up. Season is about 8 games long. Plenty of parking and spectator space. I actually like it more than playing outdoors because it requires you to work harder, run faster, be tougher, and work on your skills.

You’ll notice a lot of reviews discussing the quality of refs at this facility. Those reviews are accurate… most of the refs here are terrible. Unfortunately, the management and owner of the facility has little concern for the problem or player safety. I was met with hostility when discussing my concern for player safety with her. Are you serious? This should be her biggest concern!
Inconsistent refs are a part of soccer. They’re going to make mistakes, and that’s expected. Not making calls when people are being taken down by their necks and getting there heads forcibly smashed into the boards is not acceptable. That’s why most games end here with aggro players, and drama. Refs, and management… terrible. Play elsewhere… I will be soon enough!

Some members of the staff are rude. Some of the refs really suck — don’t call hand balls, don’t call penalties, eventually it escalates into both teams turning into assholes. You gotta call those penalties!
I played on a coed team, and I would say the majority of guys who play are super agro. I think they must OD on testosterone before playing. They can make it not fun, and the refs usually don’t do anything about it. This aggressive behavior would not be tolerated in any other league I’ve ever heard of, I don’t know why they don’t do anything about it. Someone is going to get seriously hurt here.
We play in the lowest division, and every season there is at least one team who joins the lowest division with people who have played soccer their entire lives, including playing on college teams… but they have some excuse for why they are in the lowest division — usually something ridiculous like «we only have time to work out 5 days a week instead of 7 like we used to.»
It is really not fun to play against people who are super good, when your team is in the lowest division. It is really not fun to play against teams of super good people who KEEP SCORING GOALS even though they stopped keeping score in the first 5 minutes of the game. People from the top division are allowed to play as subs in the lowest division. There are 9 divisions here — that is a huge difference in skill level. When you’re paying to play against people who at least sort of match your owl level, it is a waste of money and time to have to play against people who are basically professionals. Teams are allowed to get division one subs even if they have a full team, with their own subs.
There are tons and tons of jerks who play here.
Oh and good luck to you if you play a team with people the refs are buddies with on it.
Do what we did and take your money elsewhere.

I couldn’t possible give this place a low enough review.
There are 2 or 3 people out of the entire staff that care at all about doing a professional job. The rest are total and complete d-​bags. That old, nasty, blonde cougar that works at the desk is the absolute worst. I don’t know if she is a manager, owner or what, but she clearly does not care about that place at all. If you dare to ask her any question, she will give you the nastiest look and answer with the greatest amount of disdain possible.
The staff in general completely lacks any sort of safety mindset. The skill levels at this place are a total joke and top division players are constantly playing at the low divisions. The refs are also players and they are all buddy buddy with people and totally bias. The only good ref is the older european guy, he rules. If there was a Unilocal for him, I would give him 5 stars.
Teams are constantly picking up multiple players to cover their late or missing players, which would be fine, if it wasn’t a bunch of testosterone filled, aggressive, bitter, d-​1 players that are out to score as many goals and play as rough as possible against the lowest division, recreational, coed team.
Yes, Let’s Play Soccer! Just make sure it is somewhere (anywhere) else.

They recently re-​turfed the fields and still a great place to play indoor soccer. Now if I could only get my knees and ankles back…
