History

Established in 1998.

Using a family recipe that was brought over from Italy in 1925 through Ellis Island NY by the founders Grandmother Liberty Pizza works everyday to bring the authentic taste of authentic NY pizza to San DIego. Meatball Parm, Chicken Parm and a variety of fresh salads round out the menu with the latest addition of the antioxidant packed fresh ACAI Bowls.

Best pizza I have had here in San Diego. Super friendly staff. I came in with a bunch of friends last minute on my first time there and they did everything they could to accommodate us right away. The pizza was delicious. Thin crust, crispy and full of flavor. Since then I went back many other times and was not disappointed. You got to check it out.

I love that this place is by the slice and the prices are great! We liked the garlic knots better than the actual pizza though, but the pizza was still pretty good. There’s room to sit too if you want and it’s super close to the beach. We would definitely visit again.

Most places in San Diego overdo the slice. they add all this crap and get so far away from the original slice that they don’t even know how to simply do a slice of cheese pizza. Liberty pizza in my own opinion does it right. Their slice is spot on. Plain ny style. I’m from New York so I think I’m a fair judge. Try it for yourself.

I don’t know what Brad or the other naysayers were talking about… Cause you don’t need to be drunk to eat this food and it tastes amazing. Plus, you should look at people’s grammar before you give their review full credit… I met the owner and he was the one taking orders AND making the pizza. The pizza was freakin awesome, even after it had cooled a bit. The spot was clean and obviously tailored to futbol and hungry eaters. DEFINITELY check this place out! Plus, great price for the quality!

Was not that hungry nor intoxicated, but being the latter is best for the type of pizza being served here. It is greasy and foldable, but the crust is way too dry. It is billed as NY Style, but that only is true of the shape, not the taste. It must be the water because that is where the crust usually fails outside NY. Still, if your drunk at 2AM (the majority of their patrons), you will not care what this pizza tastes like, but I would not bring my family home a pie from here.

Came here on a Wednesday night after a long day at the zoo. Ordered a giant pizza and a salad. Girl at the counter was nice.
Food came out quickly.
It was enough to feed 5 kids and three adults. Salad was fantastic. Way better than I than I thought it would be for a pizza place. My kids are picky, and they loved the pizza!
We come to mission Bay Area once a year, this will be a repeat.

I really suggest you come with friends and order a fresh largest size pizza, every aspect of their pizza is delicious. The barbecue chicken and Hawaiian were. Very tasty, I usually stop by when I hit Up the beach.

I feel it necessary to update my review after the owner of Liberty Pizza, Theo, contacted me to explain what had happened and made a genuine effort to make things right.
He explained that there was a problem with their equipment and just could not get my original order out. I think that with a little communication we could of solved this issue right away considering that «life» happens, even at a pizza shop.
Thank you again Liberty Pizza for owning the issue and making it 100% right!

Without a doubt my favorite pizza in SD! It absolutely blows all of the other local pizza places out of the water! You can buy it by the slice or a whole pie, either way, delicious!

After an unsettling food experience at a nearby restaurant, Liberty pizza was within walking distance and won me over!
Lots of choices and simply delicious standard cheese pizza. The right portion of cheese and sauce with the right density of bread. Yum, yum, yum. The garlic knots are super good and filling but the marina cup they gave me was far too small for dipping.
Only small downer was the weird old man wandering in the store and hitting on people… :-/
