Light In the Womb Birth Services

First, I never ever thought I would use a doula. I didn’t really see a need in it. I thought you just gave birth with either an epidural, c-​section or a very painful natural birth. HOLY MOLY was I WRONG! I am so glad that I found Jenn. She is so positive and does everything in her power to maintain that positive attitude and be as supportive as possible when others around you are cracking. I opted to attempt a natural child birth (first time mom) instead of the c-​section route I was going to do.
I didn’t have a chance to take her hypno birthing classes but I know that if I would have made that decision sooner and gone to her classes, I would have succeeded in no medications necessary. I made it through the first 20 hours of labor unmedicated thanks to her support as my partner and mother continued to push me toward epidural. I read the hypnobirthing books on my own which made this partial no medication possible but I had to depend on her for the support I needed to make it through.
Two weeks after birth I had acute appendicitis… I was over the moon that I made the choice to obtain placenta pills from her. My breastmilk supply had severely diminished by the time I got out of the hospital and I was super stressed because breastfeeding was one of the most important things to me. Between those pills and meeting with lactation consultants I was able to get my supply back up and my son has only 2 — 4 oz of formula to supplement daily. I highly recommend looking into it!

Jenn’s presence at our home birth made us feel supported and capable of birthing naturally. She never tired and made us aware of her faith of the body and the whole experience. She was gentle but strong and her smile and touch made us feel empowered.

Jenn is absolutely amazing! She was with me for the births of both of my girls, and I truly believe I couldn’t have made it through without her. She has a calm, gentle spirit, a beautiful smile, and an absolute love of all things baby. She also is a hypnobirthing instructor — sign up for the classes! They are SO worth it!!!
My two labors/​deliveries were very different, so I summed up each one below.
**My first labor/​delivery experience wasn’t quite what I expected. I allowed some medical interventions that seemed to snowball and create a lot of issues with my labor, and each problem created more problems… Jenn helped me utilize hypnobirthing methods to focus and kept my head in the right place when circumstances made it hard to focus. She helped me deliver my baby safely, and I honestly don’t know how I could have made it through it without her.
**My second labor/​delivery was the polar opposite of my first. I took Jenn’s hypnobirthing classes this time, but I was still scared that things would go wrong again (terrified actually). Jenn helped me realize that I could do it and helped me stay true to what I really wanted: No medications/​no IV/​as few checks as possible… And I did it! It was incredible, and hard, and amazing and made me want to have 57 more babies! Jenn + hypnobirthing helped keep me focused and in the zone the entire time.
I love Jenn, and I will absolutely use her services if my crazy hormones win out and I have 57 more babies
