After Darla (from Shannel and Co.), I started going to Lisa… I’ve never been disappointed with my nails! She’s real friendly and fun to talk to. If any of you are in need of an English speaking, great manicurist, look no further! Water, tea, coffee is always offered. I’ve never had a problem finding parking and I always text her for an appointment.
I took my mom for the first time to get gel on her nails and she’s been in love with it ever since. Thank you, Lisa! None of you will regret going to her!

I got my first mani pedi in a while here a few days ago. I consider it kind of a splurge and don’t get them often. Darla is definitely worth it! She’s very professional, the environment is clean and relaxing & there’s even a cute little dachshund lounging around.
I’ll be returning for more pampering and will refer friends as well.

I have had dozens of gel manicures all over San Diego. They always look great — at first. But within just a few days, there is always some peeling, chipping, or that white dryness around the nail bed that begins to peel away. Not the case with Darla’s manicure at Shannel & Company.
I had almost given up on this place as I had called numerous times for an appointment without a return call. Then one day, Darla called me back and told me she could get me in the following day. The salon is beautiful, with wood floors and natural lighting and Darla was just delightful. I explained my problems with gel manicures in the past, and she explained exactly why those things happened and told me that my manicure would last much longer. I have to say I had my doubts. But after choosing the perfect shade of natural pink out of her many choices of high quality gel colors, Darla got to work. I am happy to say it has been two weeks and my manicure looks as good as the day I walked out of the salon. In fact, I’m a little bummed it still looks so good because I am dying to go back and try a new color!
Yes, the prices here are a little more than your run-​of-​the-​mill nail salon. But the ambience of the salon and the quality of Darla’s work are more than worth it! I will never go anywhere else.

I’ve had a lot of gel manicures (in Dallas), but I’ve had terrible luck with the quality in SD. I decided to call Darla based on her great reviews, and I’m so glad that I did! She was easy going, super nice, and she did a great job! Since she has SOO many color choices I wasn’t sure which color I wanted, and she patiently took the time to help me decide. I had my appointment on the 7^th and my nails still haven’t chipped! She also has a 15% discount for first time customers! Awesome… I look forward to going back to Darla for my gel nail services!

Just had a gel mani/​pedi with Darla and loved it! She got me in last minute and was super friendly. She did a fabulous French mani and gorgeous pedi. Absolutely loved it! Thanks, Darla!

I absolutely love Darla! I just had my second gel manicure with her today and I will never go back to the places I used to! I didn’t even know you could take off gel without ripping half your nail off, I figured every place did them the same. Not true! My sister booked my first gel manicure with Darla for my birthday. She was SO easy to work with (my schedule is a mess) and fit me in totally last minute.
I’ve never had a gel manicure last more than 10 days MAX and have always been told its because my nails are too oily or too dry (yes different people have told me both of these things… weird). I went in for my second gel manicure with Darla today and it was day 16! Only one nail had a slight chip on the tip and if it weren’t for the grow out from two weeks ago or how i wanted a change of color I probably could have made it last another week. Darla is awesome and uses all the best products! I won’t ever go anywhere else!

Went to darla for a gel mani as the last one lasted appx 3 days. She was super nice, and a great nail tech. Cheaper than either of the other places I’ve tried too! And since it’s righ down the street I’ll probably be back ever 2 weeks!

Anyways, I loved Darla because she was so friendly and knowledgable. And I loved my manicure for the first couple days. Unfortunately, after just a few days, the polish near my cuticles was already grown-​out substantially… something that I normally don’t experience from a gel manicure until about the second week. The polish near the sides and tops of my nail chipped within the first week and a big chunk of the white tip was completely broken off by a week and a half. Not sure what went wrong but I was really disappointed. Gel manicures can be pricey and I expect them to last and be perfect until at least the two week mark which they are guaranteed here. Nothing against Darla personally, but I don’t think I will be returning for a gel manicure. I’ll be returning to my old haunt.

The other reviews speak for themselves. This not some quickie nail chop shop. Darla is a nail guru. She is extremely knowledgeable and up to date on the newest products and techniques. She spends the time necessary to improve the condition of your nails and is meticulous in the application of the polish. Darla does quality work and her manicures last at least two weeks; I have even gone as long as three weeks without a single chip. Darla is amazing and she always figures out a way to get me an appointment that works with my hectic work schedule.

Darla is an honest, professional and skilled nail technician. She is easy to schedule with and pleasant to chat with while getting your nails done. I have brittle nails and Darla was honest with me about what to expect with Gel and Shellac manicures. The results were fabulous. I applied cuticle oil as directed to help with my weak nails and my manicure lasted more than two weeks. This is the real shellac and gel, you can see the product she is applying and the results were as advertised. Darla knows what she is doing and her prices are very fair for the service you recieve.

It took me forever to find a great nail technician here in SoCal and I finally found one! She is awesome! I have to keep my nails real short for my Massage therapy and she was able to make them look like I have long nails by doing a french! So happy to have found her. She also speaks completely in English! yea!!!
The only thing that is a bit negative is that she doesn’t do a sugar scrub for a manicure. But does lotion at the end. I can definitely live with that!

Darla is the best! I followed her from La Mesa to Pt. Loma! She’s a perfectionist, very personable and professional! She’s the best!

Beautiful french manicure with gel polish! It lasted almost 3 weeks.
I’m very picky about my manicures and Darla did a fantastic job and she is extremely nice.

I just got the OPI axxium gel manicure from Darla and it is AWESOME! It was my first time ever getting a gel laquer on my nails and Darla was very knowlegable and informative about the product. She put a gorgeous custom blended shade on me and I just love it. I have been waiting for something like this for a very long time – I was so sick of painting my nails just to have chips everywhere the very next day. I will definately go back to Darla the next time I need my nails done. She is great and I would highly recomend her.

Just had the 14 day manicure from Darla. She’s fast friendly and the colors lasts and lasts…

Like many others I had acrylics for years! I am very high maint w/​my nails religiously getting them done every 2 weeks. I saw Darla’s information on the products and decided this was for me. I never liked thick acrylics and the constant chipping and cracking drove me nuts. I’ve been to Darla 3 times because of rapid growth and the best part is with a wee bit of care the color looks beautiful on the 14^th day as well as the 1^st! I’ve trusted Darla to do what is right for my nails and the results are amazing! I also claim Darla as my official new manicurist!

I just had my first semi-​permanent manicure with Darla and I LOVE it! I had acrylics on and she carefully removed them and left my natural nails looking beautiful. She’s great to talk with and really makes sure that you are pleased with the results. It’s so great to have a natural manicure without having to worry about chipping polish. She does a fantastic job and I’m extremely picky about my nails. She is officially my new manicurist!

Darla is awesome! I’ve been getting the gel semi-​permanent manicures a few times with her now and have had absolutely no issues. They are perfect every time and last for 2 weeks (at least!). Not only does she do a great job with the gel, but she gives a REAL manicure. Also, it was really important to me that after I take the gel off, my nails aren’t damaged at ALL. I haven’t gone to anyone else there, but I’m sure that Darla is the best! I would highly recommend her.

I stopped getting manicures awhile ago because not only did they never last more than a few days, but I ALWAYS managed to damage the polish before it dried. Every time! But now that I started getting my semi-​perm manicures from Darla, I always have cute nails. This stuff doesn’t budge! I was taking clients at work within minutes of my manicure — no damage whatsoever! It’s been 2 ½ weeks and the polish is exactly where she left it! You don’t have to get another manicure until your nails growth starts to show and your cuticles get skanky. Semi-​permanent manicures erradicate all manicure woes!
