Lucky Dog

Lucky Dog seems to have great reviews and maybe there aren’t that many pet shops in san diego or maybe they’re worse than this one but I thought it was just «ok». There didnt seem to be much of a selection of ANYTHING, and what was there seemed boring. Maybe because I am from a city where space is a premium, but i just coulnd;t understand why there was so much open space in that place, it seemed like they could have used more merchandise.
The woman working there was nice though, very friendly!

This places has about everything for your little dog. It’s such a fun place to just stop into when you’re out for a walk. Love the service too! The clothes are moderately priced and very cute. I recently purchased a fun bag from there as well and it’s top quality!
The doggie bakery is also such a treat!

I have got to stop taking my dog into this place because every time I walk out of there I’m $ 30 poorer! Adorable selection of toys, collars, doggie wear (yes, I bought my last dog a black and pink cashmere blend argyle sweater and I’m not ashamed! He looked adorable and was warm after his haircut). They even have biodegradable purple poop bags and coordinating dispensers. My new dog waits patiently while I open the half gate to let him in, picks out his newest adorable toy, and then watches while I fork over the ten bucks. Yes, I love my dog and my dog loves Lucky Dog.

I love Lucky Dog. They have witty toys for my dog. And my dog needs witty toys– he likes a good challenge besides the Wall Street Journal crossword puzzle (those are too easy for him).
But seriously. They have GREAT toys here, great homemade treats made with REAL ingredients and they are healthy. They have a great selection of doggy outfits and sweaters– even ones to fit my 60lb boxer with his big funky chest (hard to fit!).
I stop in the store whenever I am downtown. I just went Christmas shopping for my dog there, which I always do.
They are really great about my dog being in the store and even being off the leash and checking it out for himself. VERY friendly staff, very clean, and a must-​go for the dog lover.

I like shopping at lucky dog and am glad that they are downtown. The only downside is that they are more expensive then shopping on the internet but their prices are reasonable for retail.
They have organic dog food, bully sticks (don’t ask what they are) and always friendly service.

After picking up my little monkey terrier (Affenpinscher), Gizmo, in May I made a beeline for this store. A few toys & a t-​shirt later, I can’t say enough good things about this boutique. I love that the employees can bring their dogs with them to work… Frankie is adorable! Now that I am a resident of San Diego via Dallas, I will not only spread the word I will make shopping here a monthly ritual.

So, I was walking my dogs today when a family visiting San Diego from out of state, stopped me with a question. Earlier today, the family purchased two puppies and they needed to know where to buy some dog food. Without hesitation I referred the family to my neighborhood pet store — Lucky Dog. And, the family couldn’t have been happier.
Lucky Dog is a small «dog» boutique offering a wide variety of dog stuff. Food, clothes, candy, containers, leashes, and more. The staff is always friendly and is well versed in all-​things-​dog! Recently, I needed a new dog sitter — and, to whom did I turn for advice? Yep. Lucky Dog. We’re lucky to have them downtown.

Stopped by here after work and bought some stuff for my dog. He loves his new collar and loves their lil treats even more! It was like peanut butter with some sort of yogurt. Everything is super cute but no parking =(Other than that, everything else is great from treats to clothes to leashes. You should definitely give it a try!

Yay Lucky Dog! I LOVE this place. They have the best toys for pups along with a great selection of organic foods and treats for people like me who treat their pets like children. The staff are super knowledgeable about all of the products in the store and are always happy to sit and explain things. They have a cute little doggy bakery with «gourmet» doggie treats which is pretty much the cutest thing ever and have an awesome selection of clothes for those of us who decide to humiliate our dogs and dress them up, I recently bought a chargers jersey for my dog. At halloween they have a big selection of costumes for pups as well.
If i didn’t live walking distance, my trips here might be more few and far between as parking is limited to street parking downtown which is not easy.

My dogs love shopping here with me and the staff knows everything there is to know about their products. I have a hard time finding clothes for my dogs because they wear between X-​small & small and most places dont like you trying things on, but they actually encouraged me too! My dogs are in love with their high-​quality treats!

The staff at Lucky Dog are top notch when it comes to their knowledge of the products they sell. They never upsell and only promote that which would benefit your dog. The selection here steers more towards smaller dogs, but the collars and leashes fit even my pit bull.
Going into this store makes me want a small dog, check it out and you won’t regret it.

I love taking my BoBA here — I never leave empty handed… I find some reason to pick up a toy or a snack for my beloved Chihuahua. Before the big pet goods explosion at Target, Lucky Dog was the first I stumbled upon with unique Doggy outfits — I am still a fan.

I agree with all the positive comments about Lucky Dog. They have a great selection, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. I just wanted to point out that they also have cat supplies. My cat loves the canned food they have there and I can’t find it anywhere else. They also have a number of small cat toys which he loves as well. My cat thanks you Lucky Dog!

Well why wouldn’t I love this place?! Mom and Dad bring me here on walks in the evening after Ma gets home from work. The lady’s are really nice that work there and they always have a nice treat for me. Dad always seems to groan when we spend money there, I guess its a bit pricey, but he is always happy and so am I! Lot’s of great organic treats and food for doggies. Cool toys and a knowledgable staff that enjoy helping us every time we go!

We needed to kill some time on our way from Coronado to Hillcrest yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon around 5PM, so we headed to Gaslamp to walk around and of course to check out this store. It’s a moderately sized store with a good assortment of everything. The layout is very good and easy to navigate and shop. They have a cool display for their chew treats, kind of reminiscent of a old time candy store. I’ve seen it done before, but this was nicer. I’d say the stores most prominent feature are their outfits for dogs. They had many that I don’t see anywhere else. They also carry several premium dog food brands like Honest Kitchen, Wellness, Innova, Nature’s Variety, etc. They have a decent selection of dog beds, collars/​leashes/​harness, and shampoos/​conditioners. They have a enclosed case for decorated cookies. Prices are in line with upscale pet boutiques. Staff are very friendly and there was a resident dog (a white Shih Tzu?) there to greet Angus. One of the best features are the SD Padres themed stuff they have. Collars, bandannas, and even soft chew toys emblazoned with the Padres team logos. That was pretty cool and something I don’t see anywhere else. They also have charger jerseys for your dog too. I saw that they had scheduled several events for owners/​dogs at their location and that really takes the boutique to the next level when they’re not just trying to sell you stuff, but trying to organize events as well. Location is good in that there are lots of things out of towners can visit in the gaslamp quarter and many restaurants that looked promising to bring your dog to. I’d reference Cynthia H.‘s reviews — she’s got the city covered! =) For San Diego, this place is easily one of the best (I haven’t visited many stores down here) and even when I have exhausted all the dog stores in SD, could see it being in the top 5.
There really isn’t too much to dislike. Parking is terrible and we circled around for about 10 – 15 minutes until we found a space. Meters are free after 6PM. We probably could have easily found parking in a prepay lot, but we were only going to be staying for 30 minutes. The floor needs work. I was told that it used to be this cool sleek bright red floor and the owners who bought the place have let it get all splotchy and messy looking. I know it’s just a floor, but everything else is done well so it really stands out. Maybe if it wasn’t red, I wouldn’t even notice. It’s a distraction that I can overlook, but it would make the place look a lot more polished.

I happened to stumble upon Lucky Dog while I was visiting SD. Knowing my dog always expects me to bring something delicious back for him from my travels I decided to stop in. The owner, dog and sales girl were all sweet and helpful. They didn’t have a super great/​gourmet treat selection but I was able to find something new that should appease Sam (the dog) when I make it back to berkeley. They do have a great selection of collars, clothes and such but since I would never even consider putting clothes on my hound those were of no interest. A lot of their foods and treats could be picked up at a regular pet store. Still its worth stopping in and having a browse. They are sure to have something that you and your pet will like. (oh and for the greenies out there. They use plastic bags made of 25% recycled matter with an agent that speeds decomposition. I was pleased)

I can’t get enough of this place! They have the best brand of bully sticks in SD! I also love the doggie clothing and large selection of toys, beds and carriers. This is the perfect place to go when I want to spoil my baby, Bella & fat cat, Rajah!

I was taking Toby the dog for a walk on our first day in San Diego and happened to walk by Lucky Dog.
We knew we had to go in!
Lucky dog carries a ton of very cute collars. Toby had picked up a posh collar while in San Fran (at bella bean couture) and Lucky Dog just happened to carry the same ones! PLUS… a ton of other sassy stuff.
They had a ton of things and if Toby had somehow won the lottery or was left money in someones will he certainly would have spent a ton of cash. Unfortunately, his mom (aka me) was the shopper today so all he got was a sock baby toy.
They had a ton of cute bakery items as well that looked good enough to eat!
Best of all… the woman working in the store was extremely helpful and friendly. I told her I was only in town for a month and she let me know all of the «dog related» stuff that was happening in and around town. She also gave me her card and told me to call if I needed any advice on dog stuff.
We will only be in San Diego for a month… but I know I will be back!

This is a great little boutique in downtown — parking is a little hard but it’s a fun place to get things. But I have to say it’s another higher end dog boutique where you will have to pay a pretty penny to get some cute things for your dog — but if you love to spoil your dog it’s lots of fun. The other thing is that there is a super cute pug who is the resident doggie and he’s super cute.

I cannot decide whether to give this place 5 stars because it brought me such delight, or 1 because I find it offensive that people are willing to spend 60 dollars on a blouse for their Chihuahua. I’ll go somewhere in between, with the tiebreaker going to the fact that I laughed out loud when I saw a picture on the wall of a puppy named «Mr. Sparkles.»
Lucky Dog is a dog boutique, which is as absurd in real life as it sounds when you read it. Was there a lady shopping with her tiny lapdog held close to her breast? Yes, indeed there was. Did she speak baby-​talk to said lapdog as it tried on various «outfits?» Of course she did. I swear to gosh truth is effen stranger than fiction.
