History
Established in 2013.
The LW acronym stands for the owner’s name, Larry Wayne. Larry, a local resident of Clairemont, is a chef and US Veteran of the Military Sealift Command. The Paradise Hilton in Las Vegas, as well as various Marriotts and Sheratons across the US fall under Larry’s resume in his years in the culinary business. During his stay in North Carolina, he discovered a special vinegar based cuisine which he later incorporated in his BBQ sauce. Combining this concept with local ingredients and aromatic spices, Larry created his «San Diego Style BBQ» as a side catering business for over twenty years, right in the heart of Clairemont. Now retired, LW is ready to share his style of BBQ to the greater San Diego community at all times. On site the restaurant houses a state of the art smoker, which is also the only one of its kind in San Diego. The machine keeps the hickory smoke circulating for longer hours without releasing the stench in the air, thus allowing the meat to be cooked «low & slow.»
