Used to be Mariscos German but it’s called Jolla Shark now! Same exact menu so we’re guessing this is the same spot. Basically the best fish taco of my life and the mariscado taco was also mind blowing.

Their grilled fish taco, as well as the grilled shrimp taco, is ssssooooooo soooo good. I burned by mouth eating them, and I still couldn’t stop. Highly recommend.

Voted one of SD’s best taco places… I just had to drive down further south to see if this place was legit. And it totally is. Cheap prices, fresh seafood, bomb flavors… And got lucky enough to chat with owner Jorge who told us about his award winning tacos! Super down to earth, authentic guy who was really informative and cool to hang with. I will definitely be back…

I had a chance to look over the reviews, and they all or almost say bad thing about this place. Where it is, the food, the things around it. The cleanliness around it. Well let’s get one thing straight about this. It’s a food truck. I know that not all placed are clean but your in the hood. What do you expect. If you are ok to eat out if a truck or on the side of a road. Then I have to say you are truly for down south. This place is truly a little spot for Mexico. My wife and my Family are for mexico. And the food hits the rite spot. Even down to give you a little fish soup. The Fish batter they used is the same. I came down here to try this place out and I will be coming back again and again.

They are not the best tacos i’ve ever had. i like the Mariscos food truck by the sawaya better. but what else can you ask from a food truck? the girl wasn’t very friendly. she didnt offer me a «consome»(the broth) and the tortillas were cold. but it was fast service. $ 1.25 fish tacos! won’t be coming back though, rather drive to the other food truck!.

I always saw this when going to Walmart but never stopped by. I finally did. I got 2 tacos w everything and one plain for my son she told me it was $ 4 when I got home and looked at my receipt I noticed she charged me .25 cents more. It’s only .25 cents but I don’t think that’s right ! Anyways the tacos were ok. I’ve tried better. Didn’t have much flavor. I know their just fish tacos but I tried better and other places give you the broth they cook it in. They didn’t even offer. Also some bum just walked up and straight up took a salsa from the truck and put some in his ramen soup and the lady didn’t tell him anything hahah ghetto

Delicious and affordable(cash only). Service is spotty if you’re a no habla espanole gringo but the food is worth it.

I’ve been coming here to get my fish tacos for years and they are not only amazing and delicious but they are only $ 1.25!!! I mostly get the fish and shrimp tacos and the quesadilla de arrachera y camaron(steak and shrimp) and they are pretty tasty. Place can get crowded around lunch hour. Cash only. Free cup of seafood soup while you wait which is very tasty. Service is hit and miss but okay most of the time. No place to sit so if you choose to eat there then it’s standup room only. Fish tacos are worth it though!

My search for the best fish taco continues… First of all, if you are going to complain about cleanliness or the looks of the truck, you shouldn’t be eating at a food truck. They are held to the same standards as restaurants, and I guarantee that truck is probably cleaner than your own kitchen! Anyhow, I love fish tacos(Baja style only — none of that grilled crap!). I have a favorite place in San Diego, but continually look for other options. I had heard so many great things about Mariscos German that I had to try it. My friends live nearby, so it wasn’t a long drive(if you aren’t nearby, it will be far, and in my opinion, not worth the drive). It’s hard to complain when it’s only $ 1.25 per taco. And I really don’t have any complaints — my tacos were good, just not great. I wasn’t immediately WOWED. There just wasn’t a ton of flavor, although everything was as it should be. They will give you a cup of their fish soup to enjoy while you wait. This isn’t my thing, so I passed. But my friend really enjoyed it. It probably took about 10 minutes for our food, which we didn’t mind. My friend’s husband ordered one of their specialty tacos, which was all seafood. It was HUGE and had tons of «meat.» He really enjoyed it. I think this taco was around $ 4 or so, and it was a deal. The neighborhood didn’t bother me at all. Although it was a bit uncomfortable that there were 2 homeless Gentlemen posted up out front, begging for food. Another customer bought them each a taco, which they appreciated. Overall, a nice hidden gem. Just not mind blowing.

I prefer my fish tacos«a la plancha» or cooked on a hot griddle, not battered and deep fried, and I was happy to learn that German Beyer offers them made this way as well. I ordered one for $ 4. The fish taco was a lot larger than I thought it was going to be and stuffed with a lot of fish, hence worth the $ 4. The fish taco came wrapped in two warm corn tortillas, which was a very good idea, because they did not hold back on the ingredients. The fish was piping hot, moist succulent, very well seasoned, and had a light brown exterior. I was very impressed with the fish’s preparation. The shredded cabbage and tomatoes were crisp and fresh, and the light creamy sauce that came with the taco was just right. I added one of the a little of one of their red hot sauce and it had good flavor with a nice bite. The truck works out of a small parking lot with limited parking, so street parking is mostly required. Lines can get quite long during lunch and dinner peak hours, so keep that in mind. Hooray for grilled fish tacos!

This review is for the taco truck on beyer by the liquor store. One of my all time favorite loncheras ! Big tasty crispy crunchy fish tacos and shrimp tacos and quesadillas. they always offer the consome and have nice service too. Usually they are pretty busy! when I’m in the neighborhood I always make sure to pay a visit here.

Four stars on flavor One star on cleanliness, but hey, it’s an old food truck so it comes with the territory One star for serving me a shrimp cocktail instead of the octopus one I had ordered Zero stars for charging over $ 10 for a small cup of shrimp and then not giving a receipt. No prices are posted and there’s a sign next to the order window that says to call a number to report if you don’t get a receipt. I should have called the number! But seriously, the shrimp cocktail was delicious and the tacos I saw others with looked amazing! I felt ripped off though, so overall rating is low.

I think I just found the best fish taco in San Diego and it’s in a parking lot across from the Walmart. I got a huge fish taco that was amazing and a steak and shrimp taco that was also really good but not as good as the amazing fish taco. They also give you a cup of free soup. Tasty!

I’ve been to mariscos trucks with good ratings on Unilocal but disapointing food. This place is legit, the quality is very good and you won’t be left with disappointment.

All-around good seafood tacos, but cooking and service is sometimes inconsistent. Most of the stuff is good here, the tacos gobernador(shrimp and cheese), fish taco and fish ceviche tostada. I love how the shrimp comes off the grill just that little bit charred with that smoky flavor. They also give out free cups of soup. While the food is okay, depending on who’s at the window, service is a little grouchy and iffy, especially if you do not speak Spanish. Food is also sometimes hit or miss depending on who’s in the kitchen. There’s a Mexican Dulceria(candy store) next door so you can proceed to find dessert after wolfing down your tacos. You can find them once you get off the 5 and they are located at the intersection where the Walmart is, parked in the opposite lot with the Boost Mobile sign. It’s in da hood, however… One of the better taco tracks in San Diego, but heck I really don’t appreciate that added heaping of grouch along with my tacos de pescado. It tastes fine with the white sauce thank you.

As I said in my tip, it’s a taco truck vato, not a food truck. They don’t put their prices on the menu outside, so you have to guess. We ordered two fish tacos, a tostada de ceviche(camaron), and a shrimp quesadilla. It also came with two small cups of consume(fish soup) all for $ 15. The tostada was good and they piled so much on there I was able to make two tostadas with the extra tortilla they gave me. It’s in the hood though, so it’s a bit grimy around there, but what to expect. Bonus, it’s next to a dulceria(mexican candy store) so you can go next door for dessert.

I haven’t reviewed in a while, and what better way to kick off my comeback than with a mariscos truck?(Secondary to the deafening roar of my Unilocal brethren, of course!) I was in the mood for something limey and slimey after having chugged an OH! Green Juice at the Little Italy Farmer’s market earlier in the day. The lingering taste of cucumber and health haunted me as I wanted more … Thought I had never seen something called«The Barbie» at any other truck, I bravely ordered it. My thought process was Barbie = healthy = I’m on a kick. Turns out it’s all raw shellfish. No problem, I live on the edge. Mercury, shmercury. Except for living on the edge doesn’t dull involuntarily gag reflexes. Note to self/others: Raw oysters have no business in ceviche. The ladies were very kind in switching me out to shrimp ceviche, my old«raw» standby with no hassle even though it was mortifying to not be able to handle the lack of shrimp in the Barbie. The complimentary soup is delicious and very filling.

The fish tacos that everyone raves about? They’re not bad. Not the best I ever had, but good for the price. But what’s this Taco Gobernador business? This one is Shrimp with grilled Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Onions and something I would never have thought to add in a million years: A little bit of Celery. It sounds so wrong and tastes so right. If you get just one taco, The Gobernador is way to go.

My kids have grown up eating Mariscos German. Being that we ate there so often they all knew my kids by name. It could have been that and the fact my ex father in law worked on their trucks. This gave me a little inside scoop. He said they had his stamp of approval. Meaning the truck was clean and they handled their seafood properly. The boy would always get shrimp cocktails because he is spoiled like that. The girl sticks to fish tacos because she isn’t seafood adventurous. I ate EVERYTHING and loved it. Clean, cheap and good that is my kind of food!

Rossi H rates Mariscos German as the second best fish taco in San Diego… Here is his review in a nutshell: Second best fish taco in San Diego. Second best fish taco in San Diego. Second best fish taco in San Diego. Second best fish taco in San Diego. Second best fish taco in San Diego… you get the point. My opionion: For the price of $ 1.25 each, this is a contender for fish taco of the year. Well, at least for the moment as I look at the empty container that once held three of those perfectly fried fishes that now call my belly home. It has been far too long,(2 weeks) since I treated myself to this Barrio Logan /Sherman Heights gem and this truck deserves a little more love on my end. Look at me love! The free cosome is a nice touch even of the hottest of days. Don’t know what cosome is? You will have to make your way down to 22nd and Imperial to find out, friends.
