Dr. Cowman and his team are the best! They make you feel really comfortable and don’t make you feel guilty if maybe you haven’t flossed as often as you should have. Karen at the front desk is wonderful, Janice the hygienist is super gentle and kind, and same goes for Dr. Cowman! He’s honest and ethical, always putting your interests first. He’s a refreshing breath of fresh air among so many shady dentists out there who try to convince you to get unnecessary work done just to line their pockets. I’ve never had a dentist this good. I can actually say that it is a pleasure to go get a cleaning. Highly recommended!

The only place I will ever go to is Dr. Cowman. He is such an amazing dentist. I’ll start off by saying that I’m terrified of going to the dentist in general but Dr. Cowman and staff make the experience more enjoyable. It’s a smaller practice which is amazing if you want that personal and attentive experience. Karen at the front is always so helpful and will do anything to make your experience a great one.Dr. Cowman’s been taking care of my teeth and my entire family’s for over 8 years. I’ve referred friends, family, and coworkers and all have come back with rave reviews. Everyone here is genuinely invested in taking care of the health of your teeth and if it doesn’t need fixing they won’t suggest it. So lucky that I found them.

Let me cut to the chase, if you don’t appreciate a dentist who will give you outstanding dental care delivered with humor and professionalism, then Dr. Cowman isn’t for you.
I’ve known Dr. Cowman for many years and to give you an idea of how much I appreciate his dentistry and expertise, I have to drive more than two hours from Los Angeles to visit him in his office in San Diego. Recently, I had to have some major work done as I was in bad shape and he went way beyond the extra mile to take care of me. His staff is also outstanding and very pleasant to work with and I couldn’t have had a better experience.
I can’t recommend Dr. Cowman any higher.

What an awesome dentist and what amazing staff!!! Yes, I am going to say it, I love going to «this» dentist. Right fromt he time to walk in Karen makes you feel so welcome and confortable and then Dr Cowman himself is a wonderful person and an excellent dentist.
Several times i have had emergencies and they have accommodated me every time. Sometimes even on a hour’s notice. You rarely ever get a dental practice where every person is wonderful and treat you so well. I can definitely say this practice cares about its patients.

Dr. Cowman filled the only cavity I have gotten as an adult. I was definitely anxious, remembering bad experiences with getting them filled as a kid. But, when all was said and done, it turned out to be a great experience! Yes, great! Dr. Cowman’s office was so different than any I had ever been to — from Karen, the receptionist to Chantel, the hygienist to Dr. Cowman himself, they make the experience of going to the dentist really quick and easy.
I had no pain and Dr. Cowman made sure of that. He checked in on me throughout the filling and Chantel did an amazing job of relaxing me beforehand. They both kept me laughing and let me listen to music (so I didn’t hear the drill) and the dental chair even has a back massager in it, which was awesome.
There is something strong to be said for an office that doesn’t need to use groupon or advertising to get new patients these days. Obviously, I hate the thought of going to the dentist, same as everyone. But I am actually looking forward to the next time I get to see the team at this office!

I went to Dr. Cowman today to have my teeth cleaned, for the first time. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere, the «down home» feel and the great dental cleaning I received. I liked that the hygienist talked to me about what she was seeing in my mouth, and about how to «protect my investment» (I’ve had my share of dental work & cosmetic dentistry). She took the time to grind down some leftover amalgam that was creating a rough spot, something neither of the past 2 dentists spoke of or tried to resolve. Dr. Cowman came and took a look when the hygienist was done & confirmed what she had determined: «nothing to fix.» I am pleased! Diane from PB.

Dr. Cowman was referred to me by a friend after I had experienced a very bad dentist. I felt relieved when he provided efficient solutions to my dentistry needs. He seems to have integrity when it comes to doing what is necessary and provides a very pleasant atmosphere in his office.

I like a dentist who gets you in quickly and the work done efficiently and painlessly. Dr. Cowman is just perfect that way. Have an emergency? He’ll get you in and take care of it in the most practical way — why recap a front tooth if a little surface repair can make it beautiful? Other dentists would have seen dollar signs. This is a dentist with skill and integrity. Great staff, too.

Dr. Matt (as my kids call him) is a great dentist, and everyone in the office is wonderful. It’s amazing what a difference a good dentist can make. I had an onlay pop out over Thanksgiving weekend, called Monday morning and got in that afternoon. I’d gotten the onlay at a dental group in Eastlake years before, (and paid a premium for it, as they told me the filling was too big for a traditional filling or inlay). Dr. Matt replaced it with a composite filling at literally a fraction of the price that I paid for the stupid thing the first time (which came out and needed to be re-​cemented — twice). I don’t have insurance, and was pleasantly surprised when I got my bill.
Dr. Cowman’s practice is the antithesis of everything I hate about every dental groups I’ve ever been to. Before my family started going here, a visit to the dentist was strangely reminiscent of a visit to a used car lot — only the salesman’s plaid pants and combover are replaced by a white coat. My last visit to said dental group involved getting the hard sell on tooth whitening and invisilign, and the final straw was being told I have 12 (twelve!) cavities. When pushed, the dentist admitted that they’re not really cavities, but «spots that could become cavities unless we take care of them now». What?! Five years later, and those ‘spots’ have not morphed into said pits of decay, and I didn’t have to pay hundreds to stop it from happening. Janice (the hygienist) always tells me I have nice teeth after a cleaning, which is much better for my self esteem. ;)
Point being, Dr. Cowman and his staff are fabulous, he’s a nice guy, and I highly recommend him.

I chipped a filling and the receptionist got me in the same day for a very reasonable price for someone with no insurance. Dr Cowman was great and everything was very painless. Best density experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great dentist who really cares about your debate health and well-​being. :)

I have been going to Dr. Cowman for years. I used to hate going to the dentist because of a few traumatic childhood experiences but was immediately calm and comfortable in Dr. Cowman’s office – maybe it was because of the beach boys playing softly in the background ;-). His staff is kind, friendly and accommodating. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen and consistently walk away feeling I received personalized, quality care. It is a rarity to find a dentist who only suggests absolutely necessary procedures and has extremely fair pricing. I highly recommend Dr. Cowman!

I love this office! Everyone is super friendly — receptionist, hygienist and dentist! Plus I love they take early morning appointments, 7AM, so I can go in before work. They never try to do extra dental work you don’t need. I was referred here by a friend and since then I’ve referred I think around 4 – 5 friends here (and each time they send me a thank you note — how thoughtful!). One friend was told by a previous dentist she had FOUR cavities! She wasn’t in any pain but avoided going to the dentist for two years because she didn’t want to pay a ton of money for it. I referred her to Dr. Cowman and he told her they were not in fact cavities (I can’t remember what it was?), gave her a cleaning and sent her on her way. I needed a mouth guard for grinding my teeth at night and had been avoiding the issue because of the cost, but I asked Dr. Cowman and he said they could give me a very basic and inexpensive guard, I actually don’t even remember them charging me but if my insurance didn’t cover it, it wasn’t more than $ 50. It looks just like my friends’ who spent $ 100s on theirs — suckers!

I’ve been a patient of the Cowmans since I was a kid in the late 70’s, early 80’s. (The practice belonged to Dr. Matt’s father in those days.)
I had another dentist for a few years as a very young child and it was a somewhat traumatizing experience. But after he went out of practice, my mom took us to Dr. Cowman, who was my father’s dentist.
These people are the best! Since I’ve been going there, I never understood why people would dislike going to the dentist… I actually look forward to my visits! His office staff is really nice… They remember better what was going on in my life the last time I was in than I do!
Even my wife, a lifelong victim of dentist terror and trauma, went to see these folks at my urging and came out laughing… and no longer afraid of a dentist visit.
I pay a little more to use an insurance plan that they accept. I would pay a lot more if I had to, there is no way I would ever switch.

The doctor and staff are very friendly. I’ve been going here for years because these are by far the most painless cleanings I have ever had. For a long time I didn’t have dental insurance, but the costs were a lot lower than I expected.
With a place like this, there is no excuse to avoid the dentist.
