Midnight Madness Fun Bicycle Ride

We did the ride last night, now that Midnight Madness is back at Midnight it is great again. Keep up the good work. Many thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers.

This is my second year in a row doing Midnight Madness! This year was better than last. The start and finish line was at Liberty Station which helped because of all the free parking. Now it is back to starting at midnight as it should be, and roads are closed off for safety. Both years I have done this ride with our French Meetup group and we were able to get group discounts. Registration includes the ride, T-​shirt, ability to participate in numerous costume contests, and a raffle. And Madness it is, decorated bikes, bicycles built for two, battery-​operated Christmas lights, glow sticks and creative costumes. The ride took us through some of the most beautiful parts of San Diego at Midnight. Volunteers help us a lot to keep us on track. The 17 mile route is a bit of a workout, but relatively flat, keeping it fun. My favorite part is meeting friends in the parking lot to get all decked out. I hope to be back next year!

The name should say it all… Midnight Madness because it is complete madness!
As indicated by others, it is a flat course that you can partake with a thousand of your closest friends. It is truly a unique way to see parts of San Diego that you might not normally notice.
It is definitely an interesting place to people watch as many dress themselves up and or their bikes.
Most of the route is police escorted and many of the intersections have traffic cops to allow the bikers to pass.
It is a very cool ride to experience however the sea of bikers is crazy and for many, it is as if it was their first time on a bike.
The ride begins like it’s title says… midnight, so there is a lot of down time waiting for the ride to begin but that is were you get to enjoy the people who were just let out of the asylum.
I’d do it again now that I know what to expect!

I have been doing Midnight Madness since I was a kid. My mom used to make me do it, because she always liked to do it. Then one day she realized I am totally shitty at riding bikes! One year my brakes broke during the ride, and had to be cut. So i rode the whole ride with only front brakes. So later in the ride I go to put my sweatship under my butt, and BAM I going flying off the bike. I went to the right, my bike went to the left.
So this year I did the ride with my partner in crime Ronnie, on electric bikes. We lit up our bikes with tons of lights and he ended up winning second in the light your bike contest.
If you do do the ride, dress up and light up your bike, it is tons of fun. And the views of San Diego at night are amazing!

Crazy ride! I’m a big fan of bike riding and partying downtown San Diego, well this is both. 20 mile bike ride starting by sd harbor and going by the airport, through point loma, and downtown. Ride any kind of bike and don’t forget to bring the glow sticks to dress up your bike. Do it up enough, try the «light the bike» contest. With only 30 $ to enter, it’s worth it for the fun and energy you will enjoy

this was my first time doing a bike ride, and this was sooooo fun. It was nicely organized and safe. the DJ was kind of lame kept hearing the same song. how many times can you hear bicycle race by queen in a hour, the answer is three times. you can dress up in goofy costumes and are encouraged to dress up your bike. The ride is a little under 20 miles and is mostly down hill. me and my girl did the ride on electric bikes from Ivan stewards electric bike center and it made the ride extra fun. so check it out next year you will have a blast. p. s. the ride starts at midnight so rest during the day.
