History

Established in 1985.

Morgan Home Funding is a thriving family owned Mortgage Company. Caron Cain founded Morgan Corporation back in 1985. We are a member of the California Mortgage Brokers Association, Better Business Bureau, Mira Mesa Town Council, Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce and San Diego Board of Realtors. We are active and supportive in our community and are involved in several charities. Caron has been in the mortgage industry for 40 years. She has seen and done nearly everything there is to do with regard to mortgage lending. Early in her career, among other things, she was a regional manager for Lomas and Nettleton managing over 20 branches, and experienced buying and selling money in the secondary market. In 1985 she founded Morgan and decided her career would be best served owning her own business. She has done just that. Initially she had multiple branches and many Loan Officers. However, in the early 1990’s she down sized to one main branch.

My name is Patrick Cain, and I am the Co-​Owner of Morgan Home Funding. I have been with Morgan as we weathered the ups and downs of the mortgage lending business for 2 decades. I am the Chief Operations Officer, and I manage the staff and sales team. Over the last 20 years we have nearly perfected the loan closing process. Keeping up with the overwhelming industry changes in regulations, and lending guidelines keeps me busy, but working directly with our clients to assure that their loan closing experience is an amazing one is my real passion. I have seen to it that our sales team, and staff are the absolute best in the business.

We have worked with two of the members of the Morgan Home Funding family now (most recently with Patrick), and could not be more satisfied. We’ve refinanced our mortgage (which we originally got through them as well) twice, and are now paying $ 1000 /​month less than we did 5 years ago! This last time around we did everything digitally, which was super convenient. Uploading documents, digital signatures, all a breeze via the secure document site. For the final loan documents, the notary even came by our house on a Saturday, making those whole thing fit into our busy schedule super easy. Everything was done in less than a month, and we were able to time everything perfectly so we closed within the last 2 days of the (can be important with FHA).

Who says refi’s are painful? Patrick Cain and the whole Morgan Home Funding team took all the pain out of that. With our previous FHA loan, we had a PMI that was included due to not having enough equity due to the down housing market. Having worked with Morgan Home Funding before, I contacted them regarding getting the PMI removed as the market is up and we have more than the required 20% equity needed to remove the PMI. This would save us about $ 150 a month. Patrick looked over our account and came back with a no cost refi, 30 year fixed rate, which would save us $ 350 a month! We were shocked but also dreaded going through the refi process, having done this a few times before and it’s a long, painful process.
Patrick took hold of the reins and gave us the list of items we needed to supply (paystubs, bank statements, etc.). We were able to supply these docs electronically via email and DocuSign. In turn, not only was this whole process painless, we were funded in 2 ½ weeks from the start. That has to be a record. With Patrick and his team working behind the scenes to make sure everything was going through as it should and our ability to provide documents as needed, this was the best financial transaction we have done. Morgan Home Funding is big enough to compete with the big banks yet small enough to be very personal in dealing with their clients. Communication was top notch and we were always in the loop. Way to go guys! Thanks for everything and we will definitely recommend you.

Patrick and the rest of the team treated us like family from the beginning. Any questions you have about ANY step of the process is outlined in layman’s terms for you at any time of the day and the response is immediate. They are also brilliant with finding you the creative ways to get a great loan with the lowest rates possible and have the expertise to make it happen. If a lower rate is possible, Patrick will find it whether you ask for it or not! Their ability to keep you motivated and assist you with every detail surpasses any service you can receive elsewhere. I would call these guys personal financial planners, not just brokers who help get you into the market. We have found lifelong friends at Morgan Home Funding.

This is a family owned and operated business, and it is refreshing that this local business can compete with the big banks on rates on fees. Icing on the cake is that they outshine any of those big financing machines with top notch customer service.
Lonny Cain hits the mark on quick closes with complex financial circumstances. The loan process is straight forward; he does as much heavy lifting as he can to keep the process on schedule without burdening you as a buyer with mountains of paperwork. He understands the lending requirements for California very well and treats us as the customer with respect. He is a pleasure to work with and works hard for your business in this competitive lending environment.
Lonny has handled multiple purchases and refinances with us over the decade. I have seen him quickly cut through exceptions and concerns issued by underwriting to keep the transaction on schedule. When we have a tricky transaction, Lonny has won our business every time.

Travis and his team at Morgan Home Loan Funding were absolutely amazing to work with. My very awesome realtor, Sharon Brand, recommended we give them a try when we had a snafu with our already established lender. Not only did Morgan Home Loan Funding come through for us, but they hit the ball out of the park!
They took our case two weeks into the escrow process. We thought it would be inevitable that we have to extend our escrow; but not only did they make it work, they closed two days early! Because of the condensed timeline, Travis came in on a Sunday to get our paperwork squared away. He had us caught up as if we hadn’t switched lenders within 3 days. Truly remarkable! Further, the VA loan he found us offered lower interest rate (3.5 vice 3.75) and less fees than my initial lender.
The professionalism of Travis and his team was head and shoulders above my initial lender; quite frankly I can’t imagine how any other lender can compete. I felt like I had the dream team working for me.

I applied for a refi loan with three major banks, one of which I have been banking with for 44 years. I had very little interface with a human, almost all the process was on-​line with very little help with questions or issues. A friend recommended Morgan Home Funding and Travis was my agent. He discussed what I wanted to achieve, made some very helpful suggestions, and kept me advised on the progress of the loan. The result was a loan with a lower interest rate and lower costs than the big banks.

Just did a re-​fi with Travis at Morgan Home Funding and ONCE AGAIN, they were nothing short of AWESOME! I did my initial load which was insanely complicated with unrealistic deadlines from an out of country seller, for sale by owner and he didn’t disclose (until we found out) the house was in default. Travis pulled off, what I know for a fact, other lenders could never have done — it seriously was short of a miracle.
I have purchased and sold many homes and MHF has been (x2) the best I’ve ever had the opportunity to deal with!

I shopped around several places for a refinance quote including large banks, credit unions, and local lenders. Hands down, Lonny at Morgan Home Funding was the most instantly helpful, responsive, and communicative lender, and he locked me into a rate I was very happy with.
The 30 day lock period for my refinance application couldn’t have gone smoother. Lonny met me in person at the beginning of the process and made me feel very comfortable sharing my financial documents with him. He stayed in constant communication, walked me through the process, and always gave me beyond thorough explanations whenever I had a question. He took perfect care of me and my application. I never had to seek him out and ask the status of my application; he kept me updated all along the loan process. I’ll be going back to him if I ever need a loan again in the future. Ok where do we start? Lets start with AMAZING service! Morgan Home Funding was recommended to us by mutual friends who were also first time home buyers. With us being first time home buyers lets say our search took longer than we planned and thru it all Travis stuck with us. Finally it was our turn, we found a home we loved and our offer was accepted. The clock had started ticking and Travis walked us thru every step, question, concern or aka first time buyer freak out moment. The transaction went like clock work and we even closed ahead of schedule!

They treated me like family. They are the greatest bunch of mortgage professionals I’ve encountered. They helped my buy my first home in 2001, then my second in 2006. Recently they worked to reduce my mortgage with a lower rate having come off an «interest only» 5 yr which rolled into an adjustable. They have kept an eye on my portfolio and local comps in my neighborhood. When the time was right, they called me to help execute a re-​fi.
They are customer service driven for sure. Great attention to detail. They have the Notary service in house and bring the doc signing to your house (at least they did for me) if you need that. Travis Gillespie explains every detail and somehow kept track of everything throughout the process. Even his partner Lonny answered questions like he knew my file.

In 2011 at the recommendation of a trusted friend, when my mom need to refinance her int only loan, we went to Morgan Home Loan Funding. Not our first rodeo, so we knew what to expect, but dealing with the crew at Morgan was so pleasant and this always helps any cumbersome process. Information they needed and when they needed it by was always clearly identified and they did a superb job letting us know if we’d forgotten to submit something. Then in 2013 when we’d decided rates had dropped enough for us to get another re-​fi we returned to the top notch folks at Morgan. I think it’s always a testament to a business if you are will to return and do business with them again when you have1000’s of other choices.
