Open-Air Mri of San Diego-Kearny Mesa

I was so nervous at the thought of even getting an MRI. Thankfully, there are such things as «Open» MRIs, which are are not as enclosed as regular ones. No one wants to get an MRI, but if you have to get one, I would recommend here. The MRIs are open on all sides and did not make me feel claustrophobic, and I am very claustrophobic!
Everyone here was courteous and professional. Everyone answered my questions and the scheduling was very easy. My tech kept telling me how long each procedure would be, which really helped me feel calmer. He was also very good at injecting the contrast dye. I was offered water when I came out. Honestly, I was a nervous wreck about the procedure and can tell you it went very well, for me.
If I can give you some advice, it would be: Be warned that MRIs are loud, even with earplugs. But try not to concentrate too much on it. To me, the noises sound like African drums or machine guns. They allow someone to sit with you as long as they pass their same screening (no pacemakers, etc.) My mom sat in the room with me and it made me feel better that someone was there, and she made jokes that I looked like an astronaut in the headgear they needed to put over my head. And wear comfortable clothing, sweatpants, etc. and no metal (No zippers, and ladies try to wear a sportsbra instead of underwire, etc.) All in all, my experience was very good here and I would recommend it to anyone, especially someone who is nervous about getting the procedure done.

I wish the circumstances under which I came to find Open-​Air MRI had never happened. A lifetime of back injury is not worth all the fun and excitement you get while having an MRI. At least they try to make it a pleasant experience here. Mermaids serving you mojitos and Elven men singing in a barber shop quartet accompany you in to the scan room to make sure you have a pleasant experience.
Ok, not really. If you believed that, you have problems. I’ve only had the pleasure of one MRI in my life, but I felt they did an awesome job. There was also some insurance problem, I had the MRI done right before switching insurance so there were payment issues. Open-​Air was very professional about it, and offered to work out a plan if insurance wasn’t going to help out. But they were patient while the matter was sorted. Come to think of it I should Unilocal that insurance company for their lack of assistance during that process. Thanks again Open-​Air!
