Kinda expensive but otherwise great drinks. Great that there is a place you Can smoke that is connected to the bar. Ok Music. Don’t go there in the weekends, to crowded.

I will give it 3 stars only because they have cheap drinks. This place is always way overcrowded and filled to the brim with dudes. The few woman that are usually there look like they have spent some time at dive bars like this. Good place to go on a weekday. You couldn’t pay me to go there on the weekend!

This is my favorite place to go when I feel like having bartenders tip themselves on my tab. These bartenders should be thankful that I live in Chicago and not San Diego. Visited this bar over the weekend and had 3 beers. Total tab was $ 12 and tipped cash. On the receipt I wrote in clear print CASH and someone there decided to change it to an $ 18 tip. Imagine how much money they make doing this to all of the visitor’s who can’t come in to bitch them out.

Open bar is the typical PB dive bar experience. Expect to have some drunk white boy in a plaid button up scream the lyrics of the one country song that gets played right in your face. What makes open bar unique is their rice cookers full of peanuts. Sticky floors, loud music, cheap beer and warm peanuts go hand in hand right? While I have not gone to PB in a while, we usually end up closing the night at open bar.

A lil bit of a dive but hey they have cheap drinks so who cares. Right off the beach(about a small block) so you can stop in on your way home. They have a small deck/patio area that is connected to the bar(hence«open bar», which is great for smokers tbh). The staff is friendly, the drinks are cheap, but I only got drinks so can’t comment on the food.

I loved this bar… I went there all the time… Until the only girl bar tender served me(Rachel). She was so horrible. I order $ 40 worth of shots and asked her to assist me get the round to my friends. Unfortunately she would not assist and the entire round of shots got shoved to the floor and another employee in the bar started yelling at me. I asked if I could get the round I ordered again and they we’re all yelling at me. I loved the open bar until now… I hate it now.

Bro central! Typical beach vibe with cheap and heavy drinks. By beach vibe I mean tons of white bro’s fist pumping in their bro tanks, reversed baseball cap, and sandals, and the girls they attract. No dress code, no inhibitions, and no shame. The bartenders have all been super cool. On Sunday’s you can get personal pitchers of PBR or other lights beers. This spot is always packed. It has a small dance floor, but when it’s crowded, the entire place turns into a dancing area. They also have some rice cooker looking things where they keep warm peanuts. Major plus!!! The best part is that you can simply throw the peanut shells on the floor as that’s what’s expected, but I usually keep them on the table or on the paper plates they provide. Solid spot to get nasty and talk to girls your mom wouldn’t approve of.

It’s always a ball when we come to open bar. The price is right and the weekend specials are the best in town. Gina is always rockin the back bar with confidence and efficiency! There is a special place in my cold heart for this hot spot.

Let’s be real open bar is pretty trashy. It’s not somewhere you stay the whole day its a pit stop place. Its pretty small and so is the patio. Drinks are fairly cheap and they offer free peanuts. Which obviously everyone throws on the ground. It’s not somewhere I would pick to go but good stop during a pub crawl!

Zero stars if I could. I was the the most sober one of my group but just got personally asked to leave on 5÷25÷15. The bouncer said I was too asian. Uh.okay. I’m sorry? Please do not make a funny comment for I am being completely serious and did not expect this from a bar out here in pb.

Looking for a good place to grab a drink by the beach? This is a good place to go. Great place just to hang out and meet people.

Noisy low class crowd. I actually witnessed a human oreo cookie grind on the dance floor. Let me just say, that if the woman in the middle were filling, it would’ve been a cheap mayonnaise. Music and DJ were good, though, they should probably look to another venue to show off their talent. I will opt NOT to return.

Solid dive bar option near the beach — maybe not an all day spot, but if you’re biking around on a Sunday and need a quick vodka soda double for $ 5, this is your place. Not pretentious like some of the other newer offerings in PB/MB, but I bet it stands the test of time long into the future. A good classic with friendly service. A bit dirty I guess — but what did you expect?

Staff was completely inappropriate at the door. I went in with 3 friends around 9pm last night and then went outside to make sure my sister(who was from out of town) got to the location okay. The door man told me I would have to wait back in line, and once I did, would not let me back in. Door man would not give me any excuse as to why. When I spoke to the manager, he stood by his decision even though he agreed he had no reason. This created an unnecessary situation and my group opted to go to another bar. Last time I checked, door men were there to make sure the bar abided by laws and only let in people of age, not to discriminate against patrons for clearly no reason. Will never come back to this bar. Also, says a lot about a bar whose main picture is a man giving the middle finger. Stay classy, San Diego.

After a quick stint across the street, we rolled here to take down a few more drinks with hopes of a smaller crowd and a much more divey vibe. It’s been many years since I’ve been to Open Bar and it really seems that not a thing has changed. It’s still grimey, service still kind of sucks, it’s still cheap(ish) and the patrons are a little rough around the edges — classic Open Bar. If you’re a local and are looking for a good way to mix up your typical routine, give it a shot. Hell, take a shot. If your a tourist staying down the street at a 5 million dollar vacation rental, this is not the place for you. PB is already riddled with opportunities to get punched in the face and going here will only increase those chances with an accidental stare or hitting on the wrong girl. Recap: it’s a local dive, great for adventurous locals but could be a bad play for an uncomfortable, out of place tourist. Enjoy your margarita at the Bahia.

This place is cool. Ive always seen it packed when I walk by on a typical tuesday and thought I should finally try it out. Came in and another customer bought me and my 5 buddies a round of shots which was a great start to the night. The bartender told us some of the specials and they had bud light on tap in a mini jug for $ 3.25. Well thats a deal and a half. Went on and played a couple rounds of pool. The only issue I had was with one of the bartenders. He asked what I wanted and I said«uhhhhh» for about a second and before I could say bud light, he just moved on to the next customer without even saying anything. Talk about some poor customer service. I understand its a bar, but still give me a second, literally.
