The front staff is rude and unhelpful. They didn’t even say hello and no one else was in the office. I won’t come here again.

Got an immediate appointment and am happy with the results. Dr Huth was great: Very personable, did not rush, was thorough, and as an added bonus looks a lot like Will Ferril. After the appointment, there was a large selection of frames to choose from.
Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that I would’ve liked a bit more guidance with putting in contacts and I had to ask for my prescription and a starter pack for contacts.
All said, I would definitely recommend them.

The worst and most unprofessional experience ever.
It took 3 exams to get a prescription for my contacts and eye glasses, 2 visits just for the general eye
exam because for some reason the female Dr. Claire couldn’t do it the exam in the same day. They were really
pushing for a different brand of contacts than what I was used to, they, the female Dr. Clalire actually told me
that my brand was discontinued. It in fact is NOT. She kept asking me for my old prescriptions to help
her fit my contacts (isn’t it her job to do so?) as a result, after 2 fittings for contacts and having to return
the new contacts and the second pair of glasses the owner, Dr. Huth stepped in after I had called and
wanted not only a refund but to reverse my insurance claim so I could go some place else. He asked me
for another chance, and reluctantly I caved and agreed… of course I had to wait another 2 & ½ weeks
but I did. Going on visit number 5, can’t tell you how much time and 2 months later I went in. Dr. Huth
took the time to make it right and I was appreciative. I felt like he had turned it around until I received
the glasses and opened the case the next day (Sunday) Lettering all over the lenses, I thought it was a
protective film but it was ink.
Is this some sort of a joke? I was not happy and all the good that Dr. Huth did went back to worse. I went
in the next day, even the 2 female attendants thought that was unacceptable and asked them to let the
Dr. know how I felt and that I wanted a refund and reversal of claim. They were ale to get the lenses
clean. I asked them to have the office manager and Dr. Huth call me. The call I received from Dr. Huth
was short of disturbing. He started off by apologizing and wanted to fix it. I had had enough and I said
that I have spent more time that anyone should. Just refund and reverse the claim. Then it happened.
He was aggressive on the phone, even trying to say that I rushed him. He said he would not refund my
money but would give me a credit. Why would I want to go back?
My next step is to call my insurance company, my credit card, BBB and of course Unilocal

Great random experience. My expensive glass frame popped apart while sitting in jury duty. Ran across this place at lunch. Very friendly counter person and lab tech resolved the issue in about 2 minutes. Great customer service!!! Thank you!

Just your average neighborhood optometrist. Dr Swanson was pretty nice but his staff felt cold. I felt like they were trying to up sell me on things I really didn’t need. They ended up trying to sell me the most expensive contacts they had. Don’t plan on coming pack.

I like that they don’t need appt. I was able to call the day off, came and got the exam. The dr. was nice and friendly and so were the rest of the staff.

Stopped in here today for some minor adjustments to a pair of eyeglasses I bought online. The gentleman behind the counter tweaked the temples and made a slight adjustment to the bridge of the nose. It only took about 3 minutes and he didn’t charge me. I’ll definitely come back for other optic needs.

I came in with a perception in hand, so I can only comment on the sales staff.
I was the only person in the store when I came in. They asked how they could help, I told them I was getting my first pair of eyeglasses and it is difficult finding glasses for me (so I have found with sunglasses). One of the women hoped up and started handing me glasses to try. A minute later a second employe started picking out glasses for me to try, with a 3^rd shouting out suggestions. Wow, I was blown away with the service.
I find a pair that I like and they inform me that the person who cuts the lenses is off at 4:30, and… it is 4:30. That is fine I can get them tomarrow. Then they say hold on, go in the back. Then say that they can get them done now. Awesome.
Super friendly, product smart, and they got me out the door with the lenses I wanted and 100 dollars under my budget (I was looking for high end frames). One of my better shopping experiences where I had knew little about what I wanted. No up selling, just presenting the options and adding in «no that cheaper coating work fine for you».

Just as an update, the office reached out to me to apologize for the misunderstanding. I appreciate the customer service to resolve the issue. They also refunded me the difference in price from what they originally quoted me and the actual charge. We will be back.

Optometric Expressions is under new management; Dr. Dana Huth purchased it in October 2013. Dr. Huth is nice and thorough. He also went to Cal (GO BEARS!) for optometry school. He accepts VSP eye insurance.
I got an eye exam appointment right away. The exam was quick and painless. Dr. Huth was patient and answered my many, many questions.
Optometric Expressions carries a lot of frames, which I love. I must have tried on 15 pairs and found a pair that I really liked. It took less than two weeks for my new pair of glasses to come in. My husband also had an eye exam and ordered glasses. So far we are loving our new frames!

I had a great experience getting an eye exam here. Normally, I go to Costco for eye exams because they’re cheap, but I recently got vision insurance and Optometric Expressions was in network and close to where I live. The eye exam was certainly more comprehensive than what I get at Costco. Lots of whiz-​bang technology including high resolution computer photos of my retinas. Dr. Dana Huth noticed a few potential problems with my eyes and showed the photos to me. He answered my questions thoroughly and completely. I don’t think that they would have been caught at Costco. After the eye exam, I felt no pressure to buy eyeglasses right then and there, unlike if I went to LensCrafters. I asked and the staff had my insurance information ready and told me what my insurance would cover. Even though I said I wasn’t buying glasses immediately, they gave me the costs so I could go and compare prices to other places. So great optometrist and great staff. I will come back in a year for my next eye exam. Maybe even sooner if I decide to buy my new glasses here.

On Sunday, I got a contact stuck behind my eye. I tried everything I could to get it out and was in pain. I was about to make a costly trip to an urgent care facillity, but I called Optometric Expressions, which is where I get my yearly eye exam. They have an emergency number on thier answering machine. I called it and got Dr. Swanson directly. He said that he’d meet me at his office in half an hour even though the office is closed and it was a Sunday. After a few minutes of looking around for the contact, he expertly plucked it from my eye. I could have kissed him for how much better I felt. He did not charge me anything even though I had not even purchased the contacts from him and he had to come into the office on Sunday morning. Dr. Swanson is the best! I highly recommend this place for all of your eye care needs!

Hats off to Dr. Swanson and his team. The eye exam was one of the most thorough I have ever had. His equipment is state of the art. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve never liked having to pick out new glasses frames, but they were able to quickly direct me to ones that were a match and in my budget. The contacts he recommended are extremely comfortable and a huge improvement over the one’s I had before. Optometric Expressions truly stands out from crowd.

I walked for an eye exam I didn’t have to wait and Dr. Swanson was very patient and answered all my question! The staff was great as well very friendly and they had so many options for frames. Plus it only took a few days to get them! Defiantly recommend going there!

Very happy with the service that I got here. The staff was fun and friendly. Dr. Swanson rocks he gave me a great exam at a good price and gave me a great hookup when it came to getting my old lenses replaced in my glasses.
I’m not sure what more you could ask from an Eye Glass place, good service-​check, good prices-​check, fast service-​check.
The only thing they are missing for me are Kazuo Kawasaki eyeglasses which are my all time favorite. But they were able to put new lenses in under a week with my old ones.

Staff — Unhappy, rude, dull, ignorant, lazy, obnoxious, and brainless.
I will say that they have given me a new set of contacts when my eyes were really hurting and I could just run down there… but it doesn’t change the fact that I dread having to go into their office and deal with the staff who seem to mess up something EACH and EVERY time. I really need to start to find another place to go to…
p. s. staff ladies… PLEASE reconsider your plunging blouse lines — the desk that customers have to stand at is directly above you and I don’t want to be forced to look down your at your aging boob skin.

What the heck does one do when she rips one of her contact lenses and doesn’t realize she has none left? OOPS!
I love my glasses. Really, I do. But a week straight of them and I was ready to poke my eyes out. HAHA! Get it?!
Anyway, I called and spoke to the office manager. She was extremely helpful and polite. I told her that my eye doctor in Florida (Yeah, yeah, so I haven’t gotten one in San Diego yet) was closed, but would they take a look at my prescription and let me buy a pair of contacts until I get in for a full exam? She told me to come in and she would see what she could do, but she couldn’t make any promises.
NOTE: HONESTY!!! WOW. What a concept!!!
So I mosey on in after a 45 minute wait in line at the post office next door, and hand her my paperwork. She thinks she can help me out. Tells me to take a seat and that she wants the doctor to check my eyes first just to make sure I didn’t scratch an eye, etc. etc. I perused their awesome selection of spectacles and chuckled at the martini glass complete with lemon wedge lenses. My wait time was minimal.
Dr. Huth came on out to get me personally. I couldn’t disagree with Mary Beth H. more. He was *SO* nice, friendly, personable and I found nothing off-​putting about him.
He gave me a pair of contact lenses, sat me in the chair, had me read the eye chart, blink and then asked me about my eye insurance. Unfortunately, my new eye insurance doesn’t hit until the 1^st of January. So he said, «Let’s see what we can do, since you have to come back in two weeks for me to re-​check your eyes and do a full exam.»
They usually give patients a pair of test lenses and thus he treated me as a patient with eye insurance in place. He didn’t charge me. Okay, I can’t say that it is the biggest deal on the planet, because yes, the cost is minimal for them to do that, but it is the biggest deal on the planet TO ME!
The staff is super friendly, and of the gentlemen sort of seems to hold back a bit, but has this sort of dry humor mixed with being reserved that is just right. There is an older gentlemen and he gave me a Hershey’s kiss. Unfortunately, it was mint chocolate, and I don’t touch the «Mint-​chocolate» combination, but I’ll keep that my little secret.
So thanks to Dr. Huth and his staff for making my weekend so much easier! I can workout, run, kiss my boyfriend, and do it all without worrying about taking my glasses off, them falling off or getting oils on them! Again, it may not seem like such a big deal, but it is!

Dr. Swanson is fantastic. He’s very good at what he does, very professional, and very helpful. The problem is the rest of the practice.
I made an appointment which I thought would be with Dr. Swanson. Instead, without asking me whether it was OK to see a different doctor, they scheduled me with Dr. Huth, who was terrible.
Dr. Huth is off-​putting and abrupt and decided that I needed prisms in my lenses because my eyes turn slightly outward. I’ve worn glasses for ten years. I’ve never had prisms. I asked if my eyes were turning out more. No, that’s something that doesn’t change. So I asked why he was prescribing me prisms when I’ve always been happy without them. He insisted I needed them. I said I didn’t want them. He insisted. He said I’d experience less eyestrain if I got them. I was skeptical. He was persistent. In the end, I ordered the lenses he prescribed.
First, they screwed up the anti-​glare coating. My glasses turned out extra-​reflective instead of anti-​glare. The staff were rude about correcting the problem and insisted I was imagining it. I could actually see everything behind me as clearly as if I had a mirror. Finally, they conceded something was wrong, and reordered the lenses. So instead of waiting a week for my new glasses, it was 2.5 weeks.
When the lenses come in with the anti-​glare coating, they’re rude about adjusting the frames. I left with the new frames, which started rubbing behind my temple, and went back to get them adjusted. I had a huge red mark in my hairline where they were rubbing. One of the employees suggested that it was a birthmark. As if I would somehow get through the first 28 years of my life without noticing a HUGE RED WELT behind my ear.
Then, when they finally get the glasses «right,» shockingly enough, the prisms drive me bonkers. I hate my glasses. I went back, was examined by Dr. Swanson, who rewrote the prescription without the prisms. He explained that I’m right on the border of needing prisms, but that many people in my situation find lenses with prisms cause eye strain. The reexam was free, which was nice, but I still have to pay to have the glasses redone.
I decided to take my business elsewhere to get my lenses redone without the hated prisms.

I first wandered into Optometric Expressions in early 2008 when I needed to get new glasses. I got my first pair at that time and was initially torn on how I felt about the place, but was pleased with the quality of my frames/​lenses.
I went back earlier this year to get a new pair and had a fantastic experience. The lady that helped us was very kind and patient and let me try on all 500 frames I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision. My glasses were destroyed last night in a car accident and I went in there this morning to see if I could get a replacement. They offered to extend my warranty on the frames so I didnt have to pay and gave me an additional discount on my lenses.
The frames are marked up but you pay for the service you get and the product youre purchasing. Just like every place you go, you have a grumpy worker here or there but you are always going to be taken care of. I recommend Optometric Expressions to everyone I know looking for frames.

They have a GREAT selection for glasses and sunglasses but I felt like they were scamming me. They were going to charge me $ 30.00 for the doctor to explain to me what my eyes looked like… WHY DO I NEED TO BE CHARGED EXTRA MONEY for the doctor to do his job? That doesn’t make sense…
The help was nice but I didn’t like the atmosphere. Not a big fan.
