Hi! My name is Mj. My love and passion to serve the animal world has blessed me with the natural ability to connect with animals on many levels. I have adopted, rescued, raised and nursed a variety of animals since childhood.

Starting a pet sitting business has always been a dream of mine and since making my home here in beautiful San Diego, the time was right to follow through with that dream.

After working in the corporate world for a couple decades, I’ve found myself yearning to be surrounded by animals more and more everyday. I’ve always worked with animals part-​time but decided to make my love for animals a full-​time love and created PETS BY MJ since moving to San Diego. I haven’t looked back since.

My clients (people and fur-​kids) love me because I treat all fur-​kids as if they were my very own. I keep the pet parents updated through out the day with texts, emails, pictures, and videos from every visit. Most of my clients I have now are all who started with me from the day I started here in San Diego.

I am an animal lover, advocate for animal rights, I do TNR on my own time and cost, and help educate pet parents with the latest and best care tip for their fur-​kids.

Pets deserve the best in life, and I am here to help you make it happen!

Mj has taken care of our 3 cats and dog for at least the past 2 or so years. She is wonderful! We have absolutely no concerns leaving our pets in Mj’s care. Our dog is a rescue dog who was in an abusive situation. We have to handle her a bit more carefully. But she warmed right up to Mj! Mj is responsive, and I trust her to never flake when we need her. I can’t recommend Mj and her dog sitting services enough!

We absolutely LOVE MJ. She took such great care of our babies (two very spoiled kitties) while we are away. She always sent texts with pictures, and when we’re out of the country, she would send us emails with pics after each visit. We trust her completely with our house whenever we are out of town or country. She’s bonded and insured as well. We highly recommend her.

Mj has provided us with excellent pet care service for my two cats, Kono and Kinzy and parrot, Rincon for several years. Each time my husband and I leave for a vacation, I know that my furry and feathered family are well taken care of. It’s so much easier on the pets when they can be at home and not at a pet hotel. I have been a veterinarian in the San Diego area for over 15 years and met MJ when she was working at a local pet cremation service. Her professionalism and compassion for animals was apparent then, helping customers with end-​of-​life decisions involving their loved ones. When she started her pet sitting business, those same qualities carried over. Reliable, trustworthy, compassionate, responsible. She brings a maturity along with a warm heart to the service she provides. She doesn’t just love animals… she’s an animal person. She watches my house as well as my two loved ones (a boxer and a pittie) when I have to work out of state. I have no hesitation recommending her to care for your pets on a daily or overnight arrangement.

MJ knows her mutts. err. her stuff. She had legit paperwork, asked good, important questions about our little girl. Professional.
Nessie’s daddy and I were gone all weekend for a wedding. We got daily text updates, which helped put us at ease. When we got home, we were married and Nessie was the happiest girl!

MJ is totally right. Why take my pet to a hotel, when my pets can stay home in familiar surroundings and have her visit them, spend time with them, and walk them, plus as a bonus do minor house security things like set lights, or even stay the night. MJ is a pet sitter first, and available to be a house sitter too.
We had MJ watch our little girl for the weekend. MJ kept us in the loop throughout the day with updates via text and photos regarding Nessie’s mood and status. We were beyond elated to know that Nessie was in good hands. Truthfully, I think Nessie was disappointed that we had come home.
MJ has built a regular client base throughout town. Not only is she friendly and knowledgeable, she reaches out and can work with you in meeting your pet’s needs. We were totally satisfied and would go back to her again!

I use Pet by MJ for cat sitting services. She is very affordable (military discount) and does a wonderful job. Every time she visits I get an email update with any behaviors my cat had regarding his food, litter box, etc. She also sends pictures of him in every email and I love knowing exactly when she came to visit so I don’t have to worry when I am on vacation. She is a very sweet person and really loves animals. She has gone above and beyond and stayed extra to play with my cat when he was needy and even helped me trim his nails. I highly recommend her!

Where would I be without MJ? Extremely tired, stressed, and half-​crazy. My dog is extremely cautious with new people and from day one she was patient and very caring with my dog. There has been a significant and noticeable change in my dog’s behavior. She is more outgoing and trusting.
I work long hours and MJ and her associates have always been there for me and my dog. She also provides great updated via text message, video, photos, and emails so you can see your dog while you are away.
I am over the moon and extremely pleased with the level of service I have received from MJ and her team.

Skipper is probably one of the happiest dogs in town! In the two days Skipper and MJ got to spend together, he was very well taken cared of and trained (for what she could manage to do during their short time together). And during my short absence from home, I received e-​mail updates, photos, and videos of my happy mutt! Cool right?
I have always tried to avoid pet-​sitting because of the expense. But sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. This time, the added expense was, and is, well worth it.
