I am really starting to like Mexican bakeries. Now, if you have never been to one you need to realize that they don’t offer Napoleons or fruit tarts(both of which I really like) but they do have plenty of other tasty treats, at unbelievably reasonable prices. This place does not have any sign on it and I am not even sure of the name but it is the only bakery at the Farmers Market so just ask around or wait until you spell it. The owner is right behind the counter making the pastries as walk around and he is very friendly. He quickly picked up on my cluelessness and lack of Spanish and answered all of my questions about the different options. I asked him to recommend something and fortunately he recommended a Mexican cheesecake, that I may not have seen otherwise, as it was in the refrigerated area. It did not look like a traditional cheesecake as it was two pieces of soft crust in a triangular shape with a harder cheesecake in between. I also bought a few other snacks, including a pastry stuffed with pumpkin filling that I enjoyed but by far my favorite was the cheesecake. It was smooth and rich and delicious. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. I was not as crazy about some of the more basic breads and wheat pastries with no fillings but some people may like those as well. They aren’t bad… just no cheesecake.
