why is this place still in business？？Please just close up this joke，or call it a store if you wish. I found this place on Unilocal when I decided to paint my handgun. They told me it would take about 2 weeks. And they told me that they used the wrong color last week which is almost 3 months since I gave them my gun. Just stay away from parallax tactical

Called so many times. They do not answer phones. It’s a 30 plus min drive for me to go and ask if my items are ready. It’s 1 week after promise date and I have not received a call

Parallax is pretty much best shop in SD for AR parts. The component section in the back has everything you’ll need to finish a build.
Staff-​wise I’ve encountered so-​so employees but also really personable and helpful guys in the shop. But most importantly, no grumpy elitist employees like some other local shops.
I’ve had pretty good experiences with transfers (average transfer fee) and cerakoting services. The quality of the cerakote was excellent and the prices are fair at $ 50 per receiver.

Recently picked up a new Remington 700 SPS from this place. They were extremely professional and helpful with all questions. It wasn’t something they stocked so it was ordered in. I received call as soon as it arrived which was sooner than I had expected. Not only that but the prices are some of the best that I’ve seen at any shop in San Diego! I have several guns that they regularly stock and I waited till I found a good deal on all of them only to discover that other places «deals» are Parallax’s regular prices! Needless to say, I’ll be heading back here again.

I purchased a Law Enforcment trade-​in Glock 22 recently and decided to have the slide cerakoted. I chose Parralax/​San Diego Cerakote for a few reasons.
1. The first thing you see on their webpage is their «Certificate of Qualification». That means that they probably coat whatever you need to have coated on the premise. Hopefully that means that your firearm will be taken care of in a timely fashion. This was not the case.
2. On the front page of their website it says that estimated wait time for a project would be between 5 – 12 business days.
My experience began with less than prompt response when it came to inquiries about their service. I decided to give the benefit of doubt and go in and talk in person. I went in May 20. I went in with my firearm and was quoted $ 105.00 for my slide. After I gave my slide to them and paid my money, I asked, just to verify the date to pick it up, when would it be ready. I was told «3 Weeks». I asked «why so long»? I was told that «if something happened it would cover the worst case scenario, but it should be done before». I was also told that I would be called and notified when it was finished. The three week date would have been June 10. I didn’t receive any calls from them at all. More than three weeks go by and I give them a call on June 11. I spoke with someone on the phone and I was told that my firearm was «scheduled to go in today» and should be «done by the end of the day». I was also told that I would be notified when it was finished. I received no such notification on Friday June 12. I called again on June 13 to see if my slide was finished. I was told that it would be «half an hour and then be ready for pick up.» I went to go pick the slide up on June 13, at around 1:30. I waited around for about 15 minutes to be told that «It wasn’t ready» and that I should «come back before the close of business». I left and came back at 7:00. I finally picked up my slide. The cerakote job was done, but I would say that I have had better service, and less run around from a bakery ordering cupcakes. The horrible communication breakdown, and utter lack of consistency in what was said, what was advertised on their website, and what actually happened did not leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling, especially considering we are talking about customizing fire arms. I would not recommend them for this service, and I would urge anyone I know who is looking for this service, to go elsewhere.

I went to Parallax to get my AR cerakoted and have a muzzle device pinned and welded. I was quoted 2 weeks for the job. I’m not patient so I paid 50 dollars to have the job expedited and was quoted 3 days. 3 days later, I just happened to be in the area and gave them a call to see if it was ready. I was given the run around on the phone, told that it would be 2 weeks, and when I reminded them that I paid for expedited service, they said it would be done in a couple hours. My theory is that this is when the expedited job started. I got lunch and came in a couple hours later and the job wasn’t done. There was no apology for making me wait, or the mixup, or any sort of explanation. I’ve found this consistent with my other times visiting Parallax.
With all that said, my cerakote came out great and I am very pleased with the job they did.

Had a minor issue with a complete upper that I purchased over 2 years ago. Without any hesitation they immediately fixed the problem and had me on my way.
Highly recommend a place that stands behind what they are selling.

Excellent shop with friendly staff! I love the fact that they are so willing to accept and process out of state transfers/​purchases.

Had to wait for a bit, but happy to have the parts that Same day. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Stock the top of the line parts and I even got a tour of all the factory.

Terrible customer service. Told them what I was looking for and got the cold shoulder treatment… and I was in uniform. Gotta love it. Now I know what all the forums are talking about with douchebags at gun stores. I’ll stick to ordering at Camp Pendleton.

Absolutely hands down the best shop I’ve ever been to. Best machining, Cerakote, and inventory selection in so cal! If you need it, they got it.

Parallax is your one stop shop for all things AR15 related. If you’re looking to build or upgrade your rifle, they have most, if not all, the things you’re looking for. I’ve found prices to be fair, compared to other shops and online, but still, do yourself a service and always compare prices. Their staff are always cool to chat with, you can go in there to ask a question and you’ll end up having a conversation with any of them. Good guys.
They have several products that they produce themselves, like rails and BCGs. I own their 13″ FFSSR, and I think it’s one of the best looking rails for the price. It’s very slim and light, and has more than enough space to put your favorite accessories on. They also produce their own TiN BCG, which I do not own yet.
If you need anything gunsmithing done, they have a knowledgeable staff that does excellent work. I had them put together my barrel, rail, and upper, and pin and weld the muzzle device. It come out looking great, and you can tell it was done correctly.
They also have a good collection of firearms for sale.
Overall, I’d recommend them for your firearm needs.

These guys are all great and extremely patient. I just sent through my first pistol purchase and since it was a SSE exemption that made it more complex. But everyone I dealt with was amazing and I’ll use them as my go to store always.

Great pricing on Cerakoting. My husband brought my rifle here to get coated as a surprised birthday gift. They got the custom color perfect. The guys working the counters were also friendly and professional.

I have now had three great interactions with PXT. First was to order parts that were missing from a rail set that I got; Joe found out what I needed and sent them to me on his dime.
Second was in-​store, and I was amazed at the variety of accessories they keep in stock. They were as friendly in person as they had been over e-​mail, and their prices are the best in the area.
My latest interaction was when I’d ordered a Parallax rail from Brownell’s. The rail system I received had a minor issue. I emailed Joe with some pictures, and the next day he had a replacement in the mail, again on his dime.
I think the quality and speed of their customer service, coupled with their innovative products, have earned my business for life.

This has got to be one of the best gun stores in San Diego.
Great selection, great prices, and friendly service with no attitude. Plus, gun stores are usually pretty fun, but this place is even more so, just because of the vibe of the employees working there, who always are happy to let you check out anything in the case, will give you an honest opinion regarding purchases, and will work to make sure you’re happy.
They have the knowledge and experience to satisfy experienced gun owners, but are friendly and not intimidating at all if you want to bring in a new shooter.
Highly recommended. They do lots of AR stuff, will do SSE, etc. Definitely swing by the store, the website doesn’t do justice to their inventory levels.

Great group of guys at Parallax… very knowledgeable. Great prices too, as I do a lot of price shopping before buying; I end up buying most my firearms/​accessories from here.

I purchased a rifle from Parallax in late 2012 and as it only being the second rifle I had ever bought I was still new to this world. The staff their set me up with one cool rig and for an awesome price, later I would modify the rifle with the great help of their staff.
But the real reason I decided to write this review is because just this year I wished to get a hold of my records for legal issues. I emailed their sales manager and gave him my information and asked if they could dig up my records and then I could drop by to pick them up. In less than 15 minutes I received a very helpful email where their sales manager wished me the best as well as got a hold of my purchase information, scanned it, and had them sent to me, in 15 minutes mind you! When an establishment is that well organized and treats someone who was there over two years ago this well, one can trust that they are a great place to spend time and purchase from.
I love Parallax and will be by again soon!

I came in on Saturday afternoon to browse the store with my wife and her cousin. I was looking to buy my first rifle. We were immediately attended to. They asked for my name and managed to remember it the whole time. And the staff was willing to let us hold and see anything they had in stock.
What I noticed was that they had a decent selection of AR type rifles in special calibers like 9 mm and .308, if that’s your thing. There is also a pretty good selection of AR-​15 accessories to choose from.
I took notice of a Windham carbon fiber rifle and went home to do the research. I determined that they were selling it for a competitive price. Another store in San Diego had the same rifle for $ 200 more. I came back 3 days later to buy the rifle and the guys immediately recognized me and greeted me. Thanks to their computer based forms, filling out the paperwork was less painful than what I experienced at other stores.
Like most people have said, the customer service at this store is top notch and the best that I’ve seen at a gun store or shooting range. The staff was willing to chat with me and my wife about random firearms topics. I definitely will come back in the future to buy some accessories from them.
