What a gem to have such a delicious and authentic phở place in this area! My only complaint is that they only serve phở and sometimes I would prefer to have a different Vietnamese dish while my boyfriend enjoys his phở. HOWEVER I will not take a star away because this is simply a personal preference. Their thai tea is delicious and the phở is the best outside of Kearny Mesa.

This place has stayed standing for decades, I love walking into the time capsule! Parking is a nightmare but totally worth the great flavors and service you receive here.

I ordered phở with rare steak and brisket – was very good, tasty, better than average. Portion and flavor were good. The service is awful in respect to the attitude/demeanor of the waiter we had. He literally did not say one word to us. He only shook his head no.(We asked if they serve spring rolls, and the answer is no. this is a phở-only spot) No one checks on you to see if you need anything. You go up to the cashier to ask for your bill and to pay it. The parking situation is not the best. It wasn’t super crowded or anything but the process of getting out of the parking lot is difficult, you could potentially get trapped or have a hard time timing yourself backing out into a busy street. The atmosphere reminds me of Vietnam and other spots in southeast Asia, open room, not-private boots. It makes it feel more authentic. Phở was good, but I probably won’t be returning anytime soon.

FAVORITE(and best, in my opinion) phở joint in SD. We’re here at least once a week! Fast service, and most importantly, consistently delicious broth/phở! Yum. I want some now. The only potential downside is the tiny, cramped parking lot that is shared with Domino’s. Don’t be intimidated by the location or appearance! It’s what’s on the inside that matters. And boy, is it delicious. PS. Ask for the chili oil! It’s not very spicy(to me) and adds an amazing dimension of flavor to the phở.

I woudve gave phở hoa 4 stars because their phở’s great! Good portions! I gave a 3 star because of their customer service! Out of 5 guys my family and i interacted with we got 1 smile out of 1 guy. We sat ourselves and while our order was being taken we weren’t asked what we would like to drink we pretty much just told him everything. While eating no one came by and asked if everything was going good or if we needed anything else. When we cashed out the guy that rang us up kept looking at my fiancé and I like something was wrong. He then gave my fiancé’s receipt to him with a look on his face saying«here». No thank you, no come again, no have a nice day? My fiancé grew up in east side SD and always came here growing up. He said customer service went wayyyy down!

Ladies and gentleman, I’ve come back from my 2 weeks in Vietnam and I can say I went to the original Phở Hoa in Vietnam on Pasteur street in Saigon, VN. The owner/father of Phở Hoa was taught to cook Phở by the lady that owns the original Phở Hoa. In Saigon, VN: Phở Hoa, we trek 1 miles in the hot and humid weather of 95 degrees to go to Phở Hoa. At the time we didn’t know it was actually the original Phở Hoa. The lady who owns the Phở Hoa in Saigon was the one that taught the owner of SD Phở Hoa to cook phở! Amazing coincidence for us. We arrive, phở was 65,000 dong(about $ 3USD). It was the first thing we ate, and it was amazing!(But sadly, not the best Phở ever). Broth was fresh, all ingredients were fresh. Beef was natural. One thing was the beef broth was not as deep in flavor as what we are currently used to in SD. In San Diego, CA: Phở Hoa, this is our go to phở place. We come here almost every Sunday. The broth is deep in flavor. When I tell you this Phở is better than the original one itself in Saigon, it ain’t no lie. We talked to the son of the owner and he said his father was taught to cook phở by the lady that owned phở Hoa in Saigon, the OG one. We were amazed at the coincidence. We thought we had a similar vibe when we went there. We told him Phở Hoa in SD is better than the one in Saigon. He then told us that the cows grow differently VN. They aren’t as fat as our cows or steroid up, so the broth will be lighter and different… And we can understand that because all the phos there were good but you can get some really better ones in Vietnamese concentrated areas in America. Trust me when I say Phở Hoa is legit. It really is… Although prices went up substantially! It used to be around $ 6 for a bowl now it’s almost $ 8! Big price difference, but hey… Im glad they are capping on their popularity. All along I took phở flavors for granted, but now that I’ve been to many Phở places in the motherland, I love places like Phở Hoa that can bring a little bit of VN to America. It’s amazing how everything in this world connects.

Best Phở place in town hands down! I do wish they had vermicelli though. I ordered the x large Dac Biet. Broth was great and the amount of meat was insane! Thai tea was great also but next time I won’t get Boba, it seemed too gooey for my taste

My go to phở spot for this area, the parking lot is pretty tight and small, its right next to dominos as well. They only serve phở here, no rice places or anything else. The guys that work here are always nice. Its a pretty big restuarant but keep in mind this place can get PACKED. Definately come give this place a try. Its not fancy or anything but their phở is delish.

Best phở in town! I love soup and rare steak. It just perfect. The soup is awesome, I can’t imagine if there’s other places better than this one. Rare steak comes in very red but it will be cooked after put it under the soup. And don’t forget to request for chili oil, it is great with rare steak. I always request for 2 or more. Restaurant is clean and every time I come here, my orders always come super fast! It is faster than fast food restaurant! My number one favorite phở place in the US!

Hands down the best phở I have ever had! You know it’s going to be good when they only serve PHO& nothing else. Although I do wish they had them egg rolls doe. Broth is super tasty and the service is fast. Can’t beat that! –1 star for the small parking lot. It’s a trouble getting in and out of.

Exceptional phở at exceptional prices! Probably the best, or close to it, phở I’ve ever had. Totally legit place in the hood. Amazing rare steak, brisket eyc. The only reason for four stars is they literally only have phở, drinks and if you ask, a loaf of French bread. Which is fine. But I’d love some spring or egg rolls or rice or something.

For our lunch break, a group of colleagues and I decided to try Phở Hoa. It’s an authentic Vietnamese Phở restaurant where they only serve Phở. The restaurant is pretty large so waiting for a table was not an issue. You seat yourself and a waiter comes over with a menu. Being on a time crunch, it was amazing to see our food came out within 3 – 4 minutes of ordering. The customer service was excellent. I got the #16 Phở which was super tasty. The broth was hearty and perfectly seasoned. The basil, leaves, bean spouts, and jalapeño you throw into your Phở bowl were fresh. The large noodle size hit the spot and I appreciate they give you a decent amount of meat. For those of you who like your noodles spicy, don’t forget to add a healthy dose of Sriracha! This restaurant is super casual and basic with their décor but their Phở is pretty delicious. Parking: they have a small parking lot adjacent to the restaurant but the parking spots are super tiny and often you see cars having trouble getting in and out of the lot. There are plenty of street and residential parking close by. Payment: They charge a 50 cent credit card fee for any purchases less than $ 15.

When I’m craving phở, this is definitely the first place I tend to lean towards. Phở Hoa definitely doesn’t look like it’ll offer the best bowl of soup ever but looks are deceiving. Parking can be rough at times so make sure you plan ahead to make sure you get adequate parking. You know your phở is about to be bomb dot com when the menu only caters specifically to Phở! They all come in different specifics to see if you prefer which meat over the other. I also get the steak, brisket, tendon and add the meatballs. One word of advice is to kindly ask for Satè on the side. It’s spicy garlic chili oil that adds such a unique flavor to the broth. I love just how flavorful and simple the broth is. You know a bowl of phở is full of MSG if you find yourself downing multiple waters after your meal but Phở Hoa I feel never makes me feel that way. It has a such a beefy broth that doesn’t need a huge dose of siracha or hoisen sauce. Based on other reviews, If your looking for service to cater to all your needs you might be disappointed. But all my experiences with the service here were all positive and that the servers assisted me with everything that I needed. There’s a reason this place has a high star value, everyone knows just how amazing this hidden gem really is!

I can’t say enough about phở hoa. I did a feature story on them and it was well deserved. Anh cao and his dad have been perfecting that broth for years. Anh and his cooks get up at 4am everyday to prepare it. All they do is phở. You’re not going to find spring rolls or rice dishes. Just phở. Amazing, pure phở. They also serve her authentic phở vegetables that make all the difference. Ong choy. Yum. It’s that long Leafy looking thing. Some things to elevate your experience. Try their home made hot chili oil and try the rare beef on the side where you cook it in a separate bowl of broth moments before each bite. Delicious. Some of the Best phở I’ve had. And I’ve eaten phở all over the country.

Had to come back to the best Phở in San Diego. Always consistent always great! As I have always mentioned I wish we could get awesome veggie plates here in Utah that are as good as Phở Hoa in Cali.

What else can I say that hasn’t been said about this place? It’s as good as it gets! As the name of the restaurant says — all they serve is phở. They make it really good. Broth is not salty yet very very flavorful. They definitely don’t skimp on the meat or noodles. Service is quick and efficient. Parking can be really a pain, so grab the first spot you see. It’s also very reasonable. If you’re craving for some phở, this is the spot :)

They changed noodles to a more firm style. Still too many in the phở, but better texture and flavor.

One of the best phở restaurants in San Diego that I’ve been going to since I was practically born! Fast service, lots of phở options and drinks! I love coconut juice. What sucks is that sometimes you feel like eating an appetizer like spring rolls or egg rolls but this place ONLY serves phở. I love the phở tai. It’s packed with lots of meat and noodles for only $ 6.50

This is the best phở in San Diego. I got the #1 Phở Dac Biet on the menu which comes with rare steak, tripe, brisket, flank steak, and tendon. First of all, the portion size of this phở was huge and piled high with meat. They were not stingy at all here. Secondly, the broth had a deep rich flavor and wasn’t all watered down like some other phở places in town. Thirdly, they take AMEX, I love that. This is my go to place for phở. I’m even going to bring my coworker who is 100% Vietnamese and knows his phở. That’s the level of confidence I have in this place. Great work, keep it up! *They only do phở here, nothing else. * Limited onsite parking, but you can park in the streets. *Also, don’t be scurred.

Small parking lot, big resturant, big bowls. The staff doesn’t speak much english. If you don’t speak Vietnamese dont expect your server to have a chat with you. The bus boy was a little clumsy and spilled a bunch of water when servering us water, and didn’t even acknowledge that he made a mistake. I don’t know if my life of privilege and wealth has made me harsh to the ways of a bus boy who made a simple mistake. But I was offended! I know he doesn’t speak much english but he could have made at least the slightest gesture apologizing that he mest up and spilled a bunch of water and not acknowledge it. Moving forward, I ordered the beef biscuit and flank it was 6.50 for a medium. The noodles were cook perfectly and the briscuit was very lean. The flank is too fatty for me, I usually don’t eat this kind of meat. I also ordered a thai ice tea. It was pre-made and sitting in a refridgerator for who knows how long? Its served with whipped cream and boba. The quality of meat is a B. There was a lot of oil, I have a pucture of the phở separating in the soup. Noodles were a B+ I have mixed feelings about this resturant. I think this resturant has a lot of potential, but it wasn’t being executed today.
