Great food, great service! The phở is phở-nomenal! I recommend the rare steak, and the spicy phở. The owner is always very nice, and takes pride in the quality of his business. He also remembers us by name every time we go. This place is run by people who love what they do, and it shows.

I went to Saigon expecting a quick and delicious meal; however, I was greeted with poor and slow service. We waited for 20 minutes initially for someone to take our order; yet no one did. We finally asked and the woman said yes someone will be right with you. We waited another 15 minutes until we asked again. Meanwhile, others were being served and we were being ignored. In total we waited 40 minutes with no service. Finally, my group and I had to walk out. I have never seen such horrible service and would not recommend Phở Saigon Grill to a friend.

This review is based solely on a take-out order. I ordered the chicken phở and eggrolls; overall, I was not impressed. For the chicken phở, the portion size was decent but the broth was just okay. The chicken, unfortunately, was pretty dry. Also, they didn’t include the ginger dipping sauce with my order, so that kind of sucked. Always thoroughly check your order before you leave! The eggrolls were pretty small and just not that great. They use iceberg lettuce for the wrap, which I did not like at all– especially since the pieces they gave me were pretty brown at the bottom. I asked for an extra lime and found out that it costs an extra dollar. I don’t know if this was just for take-out, but I thought that it was kind of strange. None of the other phở places I’ve been to have ever charged me extra. Just nit-picking here, but, I still only got 1 full lime in my order(which means, 1 extra lime for a dollar actually means ½ a lime). So, I guess this place isn’t terrible, but if you’re already this close to the freeway, then you might as well take an extra few minutes and go to any of the other phở places on Mira Mesa.

I work at the gym next door and I live for their spring rolls. They’re a tad pricey but so very delicious! Everything else is fairly reasonably priced and tastes great! Atmosphere is relaxed and the employees are sometimes hard to understand but always friendly.

The owner here is very nice. I came in just to try their grilled pork chop as it’s my all time favorite food and he was happy to accommodate my small request. I would definitely come back to try their other food but so far, their grilled pork chop got my 2 thumbs up.

I’ve gone here twice so far and loved their vegetarian phở more after every visit.(They don’t cheat on their broth, this is the real deal.) Their shrimp fried rice as well as their shrimp pad Thai was amazing. Personally I’m a fan of spices so I ask them to add some which makes it even better. The owners are super friendly as well which is always a bonus. Parking can be tight due to a nearby popular gym but its worth the extra effort.

great local phở place finally in Rancho Penasquitos, tucked away in the corner right next to the local 24 hour fitness. Very attentive and polite staff. actually was the first phở place around the RB, Poway, Mira Mesa area where the proprietors actively went around their restaurant and engaged the customers and made them feel welcomed. I know folks are so particular with the phở spots they go to and feel comfortable at and this place deserves an opportunity to make this your place to go for some phở

Decided to be spontaneous and try this place for a good bowl of phở. Table for 2 and was seated immediately. None of the tvs were on so it was quiet but there was a very loud crying toddler and a group of guys talking very loud. So it was pretty annoying dining here. I got the phở tai nam with the tai on the side. The broth was good. Noodles were a little undercooked. Portion was smaller than what I usually get. The owners/workers are nice and smile but they didn’t pay attention to my table at all. There was no pepper at our table. We didn’t receive the sautee and extra lime. I think I’ll stick to Phở Cow Cali down Black mountain.

My review is solely based on my Togo order. I came here a few nights ago excited to get phở. I ordered a chicken phở for my baby and a special one for me. I even requested for them to add meatballs to mine. The reason for my 2 stars is because first, they only allow you to order the large portion when ordering Togo. 2nd, they forgot my meatballs which I know I was charged extra for because my bill came out to $ 21. And 3rd, there was not enough phở noodles in the order to compensate for 2 «large» orders. The reason I know it was not enough was because within 2 days, I only made 2 tiny bowls for my baby to eat and I only had 2 half bowls. At other phở restaurants when you order Togo, even a regular order, you have enough food for at least 2 bowls. That’s how I know I got ripped off here. I’m. Not gonna lie, the food here was good. I just won’t be coming back here back again.

Found my new Phở place after my last visit with Poway Phở went horribly wrong. Great broth, nice amounts of tendon, tripe and raw beef. Great service.

I’m old friends with the current owners. You’re in good hands with delicious Vietnamese food! Came here for lunch and much to my surprise, I recognized the owners from years past. The food didn’t disappoint. Had my favorite, ph tai. Gotta love a big bowl of hearty ph!!! With basil, jalapeños, sprouts, and like, it was awesome! The owners are very friendly, down-to-earth peeps! You’ll be guaranteed to have great service! If not, I’ll be shocked!!! Prices are comparable to any other Vietnamese restaurant. So there’s no worries there. Enjoy!!!

I came here yesterday with a friend after a weightlifting session at 24 Fitness which was nearby. Was having a good time so forgot to check in. My friend had gotten there a few minutes earlier than me. It’s been getting cold lately so some phở sounded like it was in order. To be honest, I actually did not like phở the first time I had it back in NY. I always thought it was too much or me to finish. Apparently after weightlifting — different story. The place was pretty empty as it was getting late. I did see a lot more people in the place when we were in the gym but it was pretty much cleared out when we got there. Ordered the small #35 while my guy friend ordered the large#35. #35 is listed under the Soup Phở — Traditional Vietnamese combo of sliced –rare steak, well-done, flank, tendon, brisket, tripe, in a fragrant beef broth with rice noodles. It felt like the food came out pretty quick — might have also been because I had good company but hey, quickness is a always a plus. Presentation was beautiful and it tasted pretty good. Soup was quite fragrant and it was just great to eat something on a cold day that was warm. Very filling! Price was okay — pretty average. Would recommend to anyone that’s in the mood for something warm on a cold day in California that’s in the neighborhood.

**DISCLAIMER: REVIEWISFORTAKE-OUTONLY** I didn’t dine in for this review rather, I called in the order and picked it up. Was craving some chicken phở and was in the area running errands, so I decided to give this place a call and try them out. The hubby said he had tried them years ago and that they were not good at all then, so he never wanted to come back. Since I never tried them though, I suggested that maybe we ought to give them another try after all these years. We ordered 3 phở ga to-go and it was ready when we arrived. When we got home and opened up the bags, I tried out the chicken broth and it was delicious! It was clear and not overly oily, didn’t taste like MSG and most important of all, it was CHICKEN! A lot of places, I’ve noticed, will give you BEEF broth with your chicken phở. Although that’s good too, sometimes a girl just wants a bowl of real chicken phở. Anyhow, another pleasant surprise awaited me when I opened up the box with the toppings(the chicken, green onions, etc). They gave us SOOO much shredded chicken! It was fabulous! In fact, the portions they gave us were so big that we could only manage to eat half the bowl in the first sitting. One thing that I would suggest that they add to their to-go orders would be the little containers of hoisin sauce/Sriracha. They didn’t put any in ours and those condiments do make a big difference. I’m glad I tried out this place. It was delicious(the to-go chicken phở at least)! So nice to know there’s at least one decent phở spot in the 92129.

Good phở, great service! Staff here is really friendly and service is quick. I’m not usually huge on phở, but when I am, this is the place to go! I can’t pinpoint what it is about their broth that sets them aside from other places, but I do know that it is sooo good! Before finding this place, I’d never finish a bowl of phở or would have more add ons to make it more tasty. Here however, I never need any add ons and I(almost) always finish my bowl because of how good their broth is! I usually opt for the steak, I believe #38 or #39? Anyway, there’s always a copious amount of meat, I hate when other places skimp on the serving. Especially for the inexpensive price of $ 6 – 8 per bowl, you most definitely get your money’s worth! I sometimes even have pieces left over because of how much they put in. I’ve also tried their fried rice dishes which are pretty good! Again, generous serving and good quality. Staff is friendly, and one of the guys(I think owner?) makes the effort to talk to his customers and usually remembers us when we go which is cool especially since we don’t go all that often. The service is quick, and we’ve never waited long for our food. The last time we went, it was out within minutes! I highly recommend trying this place if you’re looking for quality inexpensive phở!

I had one of the noodle bowls — meat and egg rolls. Everything was great except for the amount of meat and egg rolls. There was barely any of either. There was only a smattering of meat. The egg roll, meanwhile, was pencil thin and barely a couple of inches. Maybe other entrees are better portioned, but I felt this place wasn’t a good value when it comes to their vermicelli(bun) dishes.

I came here during lunch time and it was not busy at all. There workers are young, like high school students. I ordered yellow curry and egg rolls. there Egg rolls were too skinny. Smaller than most. My yellow curry looked bigger In the picture and they didn’t give that much rice. There were Only 2 people in the restaurant and the workers did not check up on us once. Did not give refills for water. The Young waitress who did not say a word while giving us our order even when we said thank you. I find it disrespectful. I will not be coming back here. I could get way better phở and service from a different phở location. This place doesn’t stand out.

Phở Saigon and Grill is probably the lone Vietnamese restaurant in Rancho Penasquitos(or PQ as we San Diegans lovingly call this part of town). I’ve passed by this little restaurant several times but have never had a meal here. They are located in the same plaza as Stater Brothers and 24 Hour Fitness. The parking can be a disaster during peak hours of people working out(obviously I don’t work out anymore because when the heck are peak work out hours). Visited recently for a quick early lunch. I ordered: #44BEEFBALLPHO $ 6.50 You can get the larger version for $ 7.50. I asked for no noodles in mine which stumped the owner a bit when I ordered it. Usually I see an option for just a bowl of meatballs in phở broth but I didn’t see it that day. The phở broth had a nice beef sweetness to it and the abundant fresh cilantro + scallions made this soup tasty. The beef meatballs were nice and squishy(from the pockets of fat or tendons). #54GRILLEDPORKCHOP $ 7.50 I was mostly craving pork chop that day so I was excited to try this dish(especially after the owner said their version is pretty good). I was disappointed with the portion size as there was only 1 small piece of pork chop on the plate. Not sure if that’s the general portion size other Vietnamese restaurants would charge for $ 7.50. But I must say that the pork chop was prepared nicely. I want to say I could taste fish sauce and sugar in the marinade. There was a nice layer of fat on the edges of the chop so it made this cut of meat even better for me. The plate also came with rice and a small salad of cucumbers, pickled daikon/carrots, and lettuce. The total bill was about $ 15. It wasn’t a bad overall price. The service was nice and attentive. I was taking another look at the menu and saw that you can order a side of 6 meatballs in broth for only $ 3.95 so perhaps that would have been a better option for me as I didn’t want any noodles in my phở that day. So I’ll probably take a better glance at the menu next time I visit.

My go to phở spot in PQ. I’ve been coming here since they opened. They’ve had their ups and downs when they were new, but they worked out all the kinks and are now one of my favorite phở places! The owner is great, builds great rapport with the customers and provides superior customer service every time. Then you might run into him at 24 from time to time. Their phở broth is on the sweet side? I think sweet is how I’d describe it to other shops but I like it a lot. My regular is rare steak on the side… so I can keep the steak rare. Then my girlfriend and I always get the shaken beef or the shrimp fried rice. They have brown rice available which is a plus. Their egg rolls are tasty and their fish sauce is good. Overall it’s nice to have a legitimate Vietnamese option in PQ and I recommend this place to anybody in the RB, PQ, Poway area. Oh yeah and I love the mango smoothie, order one lol.
