Planned Parenthood First Avenue Family Planning

Came here because my Paraguard came out so I decided to switch birth control the next day. PPH was already closed so the following morning I called to schedule the earliest appointment today. So I scheduled it for 1pm. I got there 1:05 and was called in at 1:45. Got my depo shot and was out by 2:30.
The facility is clean. Everyone is nice and answers all of your questions.

Staff was so nice, genuine, and helpful before, during, and after the procedure that I came in for, making the overall experience so much better and less nerve racking than I had expected. The facility itself was clean and looked like an actual doctor’s office inside which was a plus for me. I definitely would recommend this location!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I had to wait over 3 hours to be seen. At first they told me an hour and a half, which is a long time but understandable. Then when I asked how much longer they said 2 more hours! When I called in advance they said my visit should be a total of 3 – 4 hours not 6 hours, 3 of which were spent uncomfortable in a wait room. The staff is not helpful, you would think planned parenthood would be a place of comfort, especially for women in a state of stress. But they were unhelpful, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I should be able to consult with someone privately without having the whole waiting room listening in on my personal information. What an overall horrible experience, thank you planned parenthood for making it all the worse.

I had a miscarriage and had to go in to have the extra tissue and empty embryonic sack taken out. I told them when booking my appointment. Once j got there they did another ultra sound (they did it 3 times because they didn’t believe be. Or they just had no idea what they were doing). I had to explain to 4 differ supervisors that I was aware there was no embryo and I’ve known for a few weeks. They tried to talk me through the fact I had a miscarriage like I was an idiot when I’ve been trying to get them to understand for 2 hours straight.

I had an abortion procedure here 2 years ago and it was a good experience. The nurses and Doctor were all very compassionate and made me feel very at ease, despite my hysterics. I am so grateful that I had such incredible care from these kind individuals during a really tough time in my life. The only thing that was a bummer was that they would not let my boyfriend be with me during the procedure. However, I completely understand why not. Thanks planned parenthood!

They called my gf in for an emergency for something with her blood work on her pregnancy. We get here and they claim that cause of hippa they have to take her in alone. This place is a sham, there are no hippa laws that prevent a spouse from being present during a dr visit. Now she is scared and alone waiting for the dr. She texted me that she went into the room and the room hadn’t been cleaned from the last patient and the dr picked up the soiled sheets with his bare hands to dispose of them. I’m not sure what their goal is here but it’s no surprise hat they are in all kinds of shit if this is how they conduct business. We are leaving to get a second opinion.

Been going here for a while now. Just sat in the waiting room for over an hour and a half to find out they couldn’t help me unless I waited another half hour! All the other places helped me right away! But that pregnant doctor was so rude and didn’t even care. I’ll find a new place that actually cares about their patients.

Wow, I recently had the worst experience ever here. They wasted nearly two hours of of my time for what should have been a very quick appointment, and I walked out with nothing. I was on time for my appointment but waited half an hour to be taken back — and watched another patient reschedule after waiting an hour! I was eventually taken back to have my blood pressure taken incorrectly, and then told the clinician was at lunch and it would be another 15 – 20 minutes. Over half an hour later, Vanessa finally came in, and I had the same experience another Unilocaled did; she was rude, curt, did not listen… I waited some more for yet another staff member, then more for Vanessa to return, only to be told that she couldn’t prescribe what I needed (because of the measurements that she should have been thrown out as invalid). She blew off my concerns about side effects, the validity of the measurements, etc. There was no real discussion, no regard for my needs, no consideration of my history — or of the fact that I was naturally highly stressed since the long delays made me late to return to work before I even saw a provider. I went in expecting to have a succinct discussion with a clinician who would listen to my needs and concerns, but I don’t think she even heard me. This wasn’t about real concerns for my health (if it was she might have listened to me), only about rules and getting me out of their hair as fast as possible. Not once did anyone apologize for the delay, or for not providing the health care I went in for. Now I have to rush out to find a provider who will listen… and provide actual care.

After my visit today for a sensitive matter I must say I was very well pleased with the overall practice. All of the team members were very nice and comforting. I was amazed by how much technology they have, I’ve been to other planned parenthoods and by far this one was the best. I love how they go about each individual’s privacy. My service was done in a timely matter. I would defintly recommend this location to anyone.

The practitioner Vanessa was rude and condescending. She was short when speaking with me and acted as if I wasted her time. Won’t be returning to this location.

Planned parenthood is very clean and nice place. All the staffs are very accommodating and kind to all the patients out there. Its my first time to have D&C here in San Diego and a bit nervous, anxious and scared but the staffs that are taking care of you made you feel comfortable and at peace… Thank you so much Planned parent hood for all you kindness and comforting me while I’m there… God bless your clinic and the staffs…

I’m new to San Diego so I was a little nervous overall. I just left from my appointment and they do run things a little fast paced, but I think that’s pretty normal for such a busy place and nice too! I was able to get in right away and got through everything quickly. They were all very kind and helpful.
There was one woman in particular that I wish I’d caught her name to thank her personally, but I hope she reads this! She has blonde hair and was helping me check out. I had made an oopsy on my financial information and she helped me fix it. She was totally nice and awesome the whole time. I’ll admit I was a bit overwhelmed with my initial total, but she said good karma would come my way and I just want her to know she was right! Thank you all for a great first visit :)

This office was clean, respectful, and followed all privacy rules accordingly. They even assist with state-​funded payment if you cannot afford services with no waiting. There is instant approval if you qualify. Excellent staff. Also, there is security to protect visitors and a well-​guarded parking lot in the back.

I felt so comfortable here. I was very scared before my procedure but they explained everything and were all so very nice. I really felt like I was cared for in the best hands ever here. Although it was freezing cold they provide you with a blanket and heat pad upon request. My procedure was fast and they are striving high in patient care. Thank you so much Silvia !! She was so sweet. I hope I don’t ever have to come back but if I do I know what its gonna be like. Thanks once again

I highly recommend this site. It was so great I wanted to take the time to let others know about my visit.
I called to make an appointment over the phone and the lady was very professional. She told me about possible egibility for benefits. I got an appointment like 2 weeks later. The staff was helpful and professional. The office was very clean and in a discreet location. I had my IUD removed by a very professional clinician. The clinician was very gentle and cared about my needs. My total appointment was a little over one hour. I got a year worth of birth control pills and some condoms. I was offerd an emergency pill until the pills get into my system. I qualified for assistance and I paid $ 0, however I did leave a donation. These people care

the guy secretary is very rude and told me i could not be seen when i walked in. i thought planned parenthood’s job was to provide service to everyone whether they had an appt or not!

I’ve had to go through a lot of stress due to the immense lack of communication between clinics with this specific location. I’ve delt with absolutely no problems with other locations (Kearny Mesa & Mission Bay) The main lady at the front desk (i forgot to get her name) was very tense, rude, and most definitely was not trying to help anybody in any way. She was simply assertive. I have spoke with all previous doctors/​nurses and given them all the information needed and made sure they spoke with the supervisor of my appointment. This lady had to ask my information over and over and denied to use my community health group because there was a «paper» that she printed out that said i had another insurance. She took no time to research that insurance and i had to come a week later to let them know that it was for dental insurance only. And as i was waiting for confirmation, she didn’t even bother calling me back to tell me that she confirmed it. I waited an hour in the waiting roo, before i got impatient and asked her myself.
The other thing that really bugs me is the wait. I understand that this location is the only one that does any surgical or major services, but don’t you think they should simply not book so many appointments so that there aren’t more than 10 people with family, friends, or kids, waiting around for 2 – 3 hours? Not very good time management.
I came in for a procedure that takes only 10mins to do and I had to wait 4 hours. Does that make any sense?
Other than these, the other nurses and doctors were very friendly and talkative.

Free condoms, flavored lubes, morning after pill, and memoirs for your diary. Say goodbye to your virginity and hellooooooo annual (or monthly/​weekly/​howeva often u think u effed a bish bareback) exams.
Some dr’s are chill & the others could care less.

Lettme say this… if you’ve ever worked for a non-​profit you can understand why the staff acts a little like they’re on Day 1 of quitting smoking/​sex/​coffee/​happiness.
Its packed ALWAYS and on top of that its packed with kids who are still using the pull out method, just the tip game and other ill informed roller coasters of doom as their birth control and then come in to cry, get hella aggro or dismissive with the staff.
That being said, if you want to get a lifetime supply of fruit salad flavored rubbers and lube… THIS IS THE PLACE!!!

I got 3 years worth of condoms in a brown bag and some watermelon flavored lube for free! What’s not to love?
OH, got a free sucker too. Score!
