Where do I start… We booked a two queen room for Memorial Weekend and a two day Sea World trip. I called the Thursday before to ensure the reservations were good, all was. Called again on Saturday (day of check in) to see the latest we could check in, was told 3am and gave them my info so they knew we would be in sometime around 5 or 6. Everything was all good! They called me around 4 and said my card was working, I still don’t know why (mostly because my itinerary said I wouldn’t be charged til we got there) but I gave them another card and they ensure my room yet again, and we told them we’d be there in the next hour or so. So we leave Sea World with soaking wet kids, so we can get settled in the hotel and go out for the night Old Town. When we arrive no one was at the front desk, so we call the number and he says he’ll be right up. Ten minutes later he arrives and gets our info, he states they gave away our room and they were sorry but the had a one bed for us with a small couch. I explained that wouldn’t work because of the two different couples and two kids. He said that’s all they had. I let him know I had confirmed my room multiple times and was never told different. I told him we couldn’t stay, he said we would still be charged for canceling. I got angry because we didn’t cancel, they gave away the room! He gave us the supervisors number who NEVER answered or called back. He stated also that this happens often and he’s always trying to pick up the pieces as he is the late shift. We had to find a hotel last minute Saturday night on memorial weekend, we did thankfully! Shortly after we left Port Loma Inn charged our card! We kept calling the supervisor who wouldn’t answer, since I booked with Priceline I called them and they fought the front desk to ensure we wouldn’t be charged. However they didn’t release the 0 charge for a week and a half so that money was unavailable for use. The sup still hasn’t called, no offer for our troubles, nothing. Not even a sorry! I should also add that the outside is VERY grimy and nothing like the pictures make it appear. The parking is horrible and the area isn’t so great! And if what the front desk man says is true this happens more often than not! Do NOT stay here!

Ok, I looked online and of course the place look outstanding, I was supposed to get a Military Discount which I didn’t, the room is small and smelled funny. No extra pillows for the pull out sofa, and parking doesn’t exist. My wife and I kept our Lysol and hand sanitizer ready. I chose this place due to it’s location to an event my family and I were going to. Next time I’ll suffer distance over comfort!!!

Customer service was good the first night I checked in. I got there and there was no one at the front desk but there was a # to call just in case that happened so I called and the employee came less than 2 mins. I really liked the rooms. Very cute.
They charged my debit card twice. Why? Idk. But it was inconvenience because we could have use that money while we were there for the 3 days. But the money was put back into my account later on. Still didn’t like that though.
On the 2^nd day of our stay, we had left to get sight seeing and when we came back, some plumbers were in our room saying the toilets (in multiple rooms) we were flooded. This is what I didn’t like. One of the plumbers came up to us and told us he was going to ask the front desk for another room. That was nice of him but it wasn’t his job to do that. He had nothing to do the customer service of the hotel. Well we didn’t switch rooms, we switched hotels! I was so mad. We had to pack our stuff and to go a sister hotel, which was not far at all. BUT STILL! We had our 1 year old with us. we ended up continuing our stay at hotel aqua Mar (that was my 1^st Choice and their sister hotel) which was nice.
Bottom line, do not stay here. If you do, make sure to call if their plumbing is up and running. Such a diaster

Worst place ever! Do not stay here. I was charged $ 19 because they said a wash cloth had a small make up stain possibly eyeliner, that they could not remove. First off, what wash cloth cost $ 19?! This place which has poor conditions to begin with, only intends on ripping you off with bogus charges. Please save your money and stay somewhere else. Also they do not notify you of charges either, you just check your credit card statement and surprise! Charges! Shady business practice.

My husband and I were moving cross country (Colorado) over Christmastime. When we got to San Diego we went through a couple hotels first that either were horribly priced or didn’t have room over the 5 day stay we needed.
The staff during our stay was very pleasant and the gentleman that checked us in (Donald) was very fun and personable. Everyone was very helpful during the stay always checking on us to see if we needed anything (but –not– overbearing which was important!)
The room itself, while small, was very clean and cozy. It had looked recently remodeled and during our stay they were remodeling the 2^nd floor rooms. They never started construction before 9 am which was very thoughtful and finished around 5 so it didn’t disturb us. At night it was very quiet even though there were other people staying in the rooms beside us. The only thing about the room I didn’t like was there was no 2^nd hinge lock on the door, just the deadbolt. (But the room was behind a 2^nd door, not open to the public like most motels)
The location was amazing! While we couldn’t see the water where we were it’s a stones throw away from the marina. We were woken up every morning by sea gulls (we had the windows open all night) and it really brought a beachy feel to the place.
Overall I would most definitely stay here again!

Okay well at first I was completely satisfied with the 3 week stay besides the closet smelling like fresh cat spray and the mattress causing us back problems. Bought a mattress topper fixed that problem, cat pee smell remained the entire duration of our stay. Okay so all the employees were great with one exception the skinny, long black haired, big brown eyed young girl. She had a problem with us from the moment she had to honor a weekly quote at $ 600.00 dollars, she wanted to charge us more than that, but stuck to the reservation lines price. So the week was coming to an end and again we called the reservation line and we’re told to call the front desk which told us to call the reservation line which said there were no rooms available, then we called the front desk back and were told no more weekly rates so we booked it for 3 days. When those days were over I then went online and reserved 2 days more days, the morning of Aug 1^st I went to th office to pay and the skinny girl with long black hair started to take my payment only to stop and tell me that they had a 19 day policy and I had to be checked out by noon that day. I was shocked I asked if I could see the policy in writing for peace of mind. She informed me that they didn’t have one. So for 3 weeks failed to tell me I had to leave at 19 days. So here I was Saturday morning no reservations and a ton of belongings to move and less than two hours to find a place to stay and pack up everything talk about a workout, I had never sweated so much in my life. I was completely frantic, so incredibly stressed, and without a place to go. I was in tears If someone would have kindly let me know ahead of time, I would have been prepared for it and had it all planned out, not last minute having to pay hundreds of dollars for a last minute hotel room. I practically live in hotels and every one has had a 28 day policy. And had it in writing for guests to see and read. So all in all the lack of informing guests of policy regulations destroyed my day off, my happiness, along with my wallet. Point loma inn and suites needs some kind of new parking plan the Staff was kind except for the skinny black haired girl. So I recommend if you have reservations to stay here get dropped off because parking is slim pickins’, also bring a memory foam mattress topper, a tub stopper, your own toilet paper (they supplied us with sandpaper), febreeze for the pungeny pet pee odors and a lamp (the lighting was nonexistent, it sucked). The ice machine worked once that I know of. Also they say sleeper sofa, well I say false advertising because this couch was miniature and there was not a pull out couch bed under the cushions. Stove was missing the knobs and mini fridge didn’t even keep stuff cold. The thing is I am not exaggerating. I only stayed for that long because they had weekly rates in July unlike every other hotel in the area. Disappointed because I liked the all the other employees just not the one chick who didn’t like us for some reason. We were quiet never had any visitors and cleaned the place better than it was when we arrived. More advice stay at the Ramada across the street it’s newly renovated and fairly reasonable prices. Even daily breakfast with do it yourself Belgian waffle maker pretty awesome huh? Ramada limited on Rosecrans across from the point loma inn and suites. Sincerely, disappointed shay shay

Where do I start. We booked this room because we are from out of town and we’re in the area for a wedding. We booked thru hotwire. First thing, we go to check in and there was no one at the office. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for someone to come. Finally we get to our room and as soon as we walk in, the room had a nasty smell. The carpet was gross and it did not look like in the pics. There was no way that room was worth $ 240, $ 40 yes. They also wanted us to pay $ 100 deposit. Ummm no. We decided to go back to the office and ask for a refund. We we’re told we had to call hotwire and complain. We showed the employee the pictures and we we’re told that was one of the upgraded rooms and were asked if we wanted to see it, well duh that’s what we paid for! Anyway we changed rooms and the new room was waay better… Or so we thought. In the middle of the night I was woken up to something crawling on my arm. I smacked it off and it fell on my boyfriend. (The TV was on so i was able to see.) I was freaking out and I smacked it so it can fall on the floor. I turned on the lights and there was another one on our blanket! Needless to say we grabbed our stuff and left at 3 in the morning. Worst hotel experience ever!
If I could give it — stars I would. Moral of the story, Do not stay here unless you want to be woken up by cockroaches crawling on you.

We booked this place through expedia for the 4^th of July weekend.
When we checked in I asked for a down stairs room cause we had our 15 month old with us.
So they upgraded us to a suite down stairs pass the dumpster and down this sketchy walk way behind the building.
After being in that room for 15 minutes I was over it we ended up calling around to switch hotels we ended up staying on shelter island at a way nicer place for the same amount.
We were there for no more then hour and a half and they kept 250.00 when my husband went back to get our stuuff to move it to the new hotel people were dumpster diving and junkies were hanging out in the parking. and we had the big ugly rusty shed right outside our front door.

Save your money by not coming here. They over charge their customer to the point that is ridiculous. I booked a room for $ 198 through
like a lot of other people did, and some were paying even more than that for a room that they had for $ 99 on their website.

Terrible place. Excited to check in for our stay only to find out the room I booked was not available. Rude staff. Dirty grounds. The alternate room they provided me is grungy and smells like marijuana. Do yourselves a favor Unilocalers. Stay away!

Stayed here because all the other hotels in the area that excepted dogs were booked and it was a horrible experience. The room was just gross. I understand its dog friendly but seriously the carpet was just gross i couldnt even walk on it without my shoes on. The sheets in the bed felt nasty and had a funky smell. The tub of the shower was nasty and didnt even have a shower curtain! We had to call the feont dress to get a shower curtain and towels. Parking is a joke. You’ve got to park and stay if you want somewhere to keep your car there. For the price of the room they really need to step it up a notch because i felt like i was in a 50 $ motel.

Stay was 6÷2÷15
I used to be a regular when Rosa worked here, but it seems she’s gone and this place has gone so downhill. i live locally and literally went here almost once a month, now never again.
our last stay: General rudeness from staff at counter. Bathroom didn’t have a bath plug, we asked staff and they seemed really put off and inconvenienced. Eventually brought us one that still didn’t fit, from their own maintenance sink, eew.
after getting flustered, my husband enters showers. … and there are absolutely no towels. So he goes back into the office, yet again, this time dripping wet. No apologies and the girl gives us a couple towels and absolutely refused to give us more.
so we’re in this terrible room with a bath that continually drains (talk about drought, had to fill tub 4 times, hope it cost their water bill, a real plug would have solved this), and forced to share a towel because apparently this place is broke or under stocked.
Then I found a syringe cap next to the bed. LoVely.
Next morning we went to collect our deposit. The gIrl at the counter tried to act like a parent looking for drugs in their Kid’s room; «well we’ll just see what we find wont we?» She sneered. They had the audacity to try and charge us for their pathetic towels but we called them out and they hastily retracted her argument because she knew it was lies.
Thanks for ruining a perfectly good motel in point Loma. I work and Live locally and I’m making sure to let people (and tourists) know where not to go.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.
We initially booked our stay via the app «Hotels Tonight».
Check in was no issue, then we went to room 109, down the side of the building (a kind of alleyway). The receptionist was lovely but forgot to mention the only way you can open the room is by lifting the handle up.
On our first night, the smoke alarm went off at 3:53am. Then we had a taxi driver smash on our door three times around 6am, not that the hotel could be blamed for that…
The tv remote didn’t work, had to ask for that to be seen too.
We asked if someone could check the smoke alarm and replace our towels in the morning. The alarm went off a couple of nights later. Rather than being repaired or having us move to a different room, they just took the entire smoke alarm off the wall. Also, they took the old towels and didn’t leave fresh ones.
The room smells odd.
The room was only serviced once during our 4 night stay (the day before we left).
The bed is hard and the pillows are flat, and you’ll only get 3 with no spare in sight. Also, you will only get two towels at a time.
The room is riddled with small cockroaches.
It’s a self service room with no plates.
I asked for management to address these issues on our departure. I rang the day after, they said they had had someone email me (which they hadn’t) offering a future 20% discount at the sisterhood of their motel/​hotel network in the San Diego area. I explained that was useless as we’re from Australia and don’t plan on returning. They told us to direct our issues to Hotels Tonight. After a couple of emails, we were offered a $ 50 credit to our account with them.
Moral of the story: DO NOT STAY HERE.

I have reviewed this hotel multiple times. I have to say that this was the best stay I have had by far. Now, granted we got an upgraded room without the upgraded price… so that’s always nice but you cannot expect things like this. Appreciated it all the same. I know after last time I was like no more, I cannot… wellll when coming to SD and researching places this one always works best! 1) price is totally reasonable 2) locale to the 5, beaches, shopping, shelter island (great for walks etc) and restaurants. 3) It takes me 10 minutes to get to the beaches and 10 minutes to get downtown. (And no freeways cuz there are back ways to everything!!!) 4) Rose at the front desk is super helpful and not only with me! You see with other guests and hear them say thank you for this or that. She is attentive and always has good suggestions on things to do! My room was awesome! It was large and comfy and had everything I needed. I know other Unilocalers have reviewed PLI&S and they hated the parking lot… I have never not had parking and never had an issue navigating it. Drive smaller cars people! Do you really NEED that Hummer? *eye roll* anyway, great stay, great room, great staff! Keep up the good work!!! I will be back hopefully soon

Let me begin by stating I rented the room with the kitchen and inside the room, the appearance was very nice and very clean. Very aesthetically pleasing. The staff was also nice. Unfortunately, that’s the most positive thing I can say.
I was in San Diego for 4 days for school seminars and when I first pulled up to this place, I was shocked at how small it was. Now, I don’t mind small, because that generally means things are controlled better. The price was right and the location was fabulous for where I needed to get to every day.
Staff:
The staff was very nice and was quite accommodating where they could be. The younger woman at the front desk at chick-​in/​check-​out was very easy to work with and was extremely helpful.
Room:
As I said the room itself was aesthetically pleasing with a new looking refrigerator, great wood floor looking tiles, etc. The stove worked well which was good, the oven however, had it’s knob stolen and the staff was at a complete loss as to replacing it so it was a rather pointless fixture in the room for my stay. Honestly, a cheap $ 3 knob could have easily fixed the issue but it’s not my job to do that. This was unfortunate because it was one of the reasons I stayed in this place to begin with. Aside from 3 pans, there were no supplies in the kitchen area, not even cooking utensils. Usually at places that have kitchenettes, there are at least 2 mugs, plates, and silverware. This place didn’t even have dish soap or a sponge so I used shampoo and a washcloth to wash the pans, after having to go out and buy plastic utensils, napkins, and paper plates.
Parking:
The parking situation is a joke. They have 3 parking spots in front of the rooms, 3 off to the side of the building, and the remaining few are tandem parking spots, meaning one car pulls in behind another. The up side is there is a tiny exit ramp in the curve so 2 of the 3 tandem spots can allow the front car to exit without needing the back one to move. The other spot… well, they are just screwed. Now I have a truck and the parking lot is not very accommodating so I chose to use the front tandem spot and just determined that I’d drive off the curb to exit in the morning, which is what I did 2 of the 4 days I was there.
Noise:
Generally, you rent rooms so you have a place to sleep in the evening. My room was 103, which apparently shared the office wall. When I’d return to my room after six in the evening, I could hear clearly every single conversation that took place in the office, which unfortunately also means I heard very noise that took place in their bathroom. The first two nights, I heard the woman talking to someone on the phone until well after 11pm which I assume is when the office closes because I heard her say she was on her way home, heard her walk, heard her close the door, then heard the car start up and drive away. Now let me express again, how clearly I heard this conversation… it was if she in my room talking. The remaining two nights, perhaps the woman was off, because I heard a male voice until closing time hit at 11. The fourth night was pretty spectacular as there were multiple men talking so maybe they had a little gathering or something.
Outside noise was just as horrible. All night, every car that passed was heard clearly. This was especially terrific as I was trying to sleep before a big test.
Bottom line, it was the noisiest place I have ever stayed and as the nights wore on, my irritation grew. It won’t happen again
Cleanliness:
In general, I am a clean hotel guest. I don’t tend to leave messes and I don’t expect the staff to come in and clean up after per se. However, after the second night, I had no housekeeping service at all. Day two, I came back to a wonderful clean smell, new towels, and an empty trash can. Day three, not even my trash was taken out. Knowing I can hear everything they say next door, I loudly stated that my trash was full. When I returned the next day, the trash was empty but no clean towels, or cleaning had taken place. It was very disappointing.
Why did I stay?
I prepaid for this hotel on
and there were no refunds allowed. So rather than eat the charge and spend more elsewhere, I instead went to the seminars with very little sleep.
Will I stay again?
No way

This place is ok. It offers all of the essentials but I believe it is a little pricey for what you get.
I experienced 2 different rooms here: one room was updated and about the size of a closet and the other room was larger, with a kitchen, but definitely dated (and smelled like old cigarettes).
The parking is horrendous. Basically, if you plan to go anywhere at night, you might want to either park on the street or plan on walking to your destination. It is a tiny parking lot and cars park behind one another blocking you in.
This place definitely needs an updating, but apparently they are working on that slowly. Also, make sure you do not mess up your reservations in any way because they do not offer refunds for anything.

We were exhausted upon arrival… no parking, super. Neighbors were loud… no insulation around the doors, great. 1 outlet, dim lighting, dirty looks when asked for a hair dryer… best of all? The dirty towels… lipstick, grease, eyeliner? Your guess is as good as mine. Was too good a deal to be true. Barely slept before burying the actual dead… the late night clerk was super nice though… so there’s a star. Location is decent, but would only reccomend for one night, if comfort isn’t your thing.

Thought I would grab a cheap room here for my girlfriend and I during a short trip to San Diego.
Through fault of my on, we didn’t end up making it and I ended up cancelling the one day reservation and incurring the late charge. Fair enough, no complaints, it was my fault.
Now 3 days later I see an additional $ 287 charge to my credit card!
1^st time calling: I spoke to a really sweet girl at the front. No manager was present, but she tried to help me herself. She was unable to find the info but she called me back several times to ensure me the manager would solve the problem when she came in at 12. Never heard from them again.
2^nd time calling: Spoke to another girl, said she couldn’t help but would pass info to manager. Never heard back.
3^rd time. Called and asked for the manager. Spoke to her and she remembered speaking to me when I cancelled the reservation. Said she would call back, and yet again never heard from them.
4^th time: Called, and no surprise, no manager on duty.
I gave them plenty of chances and never heard from them once I hung up the phone. I finally reported it to my credit card company.
They may be cheap but BEWARE!

Sure, it was inexpensive (assuming they refund the additional $ 50 «deposit»), but you really do get what you pay for. I made reservations online, but they had already charged my card before I arrived. The parking lot is a bad joke. There were about 7 spaces, and they were small – even for my compact car. I reserved a room for 4. The hide-​a-​bed sofa was HORRIBLE. I felt like I was sleeping on an incline, with the bars through the mattress, and the mattress falling through where the springs were missing – literally. We all FROZE at night as the heater only blew cold air (so we turned it off). The TV was one of those older model boxy television sets. I don’t recall seeing a landline telephone. I didn’t use the wifi. The outlet situation was an issue. We found ONE outlet in which to charge our 4 phones – not including the outlet with the lamp, the outlet with the TV, and the outlet with the microwave & coffee maker. Our bathroom window was uncovered with a clear view for all to see. We covered it with a hotel towel. I did see one bug, but it wasn’t a bedbug. The location was great – within walking distance of whale-​watching and seafood-​consumption. The staff members were super accommodating and kind. Breakfast consisted of mini-​blueberry muffins. We did have a stove/​oven, but I didn’t feel too keen on using it. The nighttime noise was so loud that we checked to see if a window was open. We could hear the bar-​goers, the clicking of a woman’s high-​heeled shoes, people talking, cars, bullet-​bikes, etc. Overall, nice service, nice people, but definitely the worst place we’ve ever stayed in our travels. I gave it two stars because of the location (proximity to the ocean) and the kindness of the staff members. Otherwise, it would have gotten a one. Like I said, you get what you pay for, and this is quite a bargain. :\
P. S. Charge was $ 155 for two-​nights for 4 guests (2 adults, 2 children).
P. P. S. The other pics posted by other Unilocalers do not reflect my experience AT ALL. So, perhaps there are other (better) rooms available. We just didn’t happen to get one.

I called last minute and made a reservation over the phone for Friday through Sunday last weekend. The rate online was about $ 90 plus $ 20 a night for my dog. I called instead of booking online and the lady at the inn gave me $ 20 off, so it was only $ 90 a night.
We got in really late, like 1:30am. The woman at the front desk was so nice when we arrived. I would not have blamed her if she was cranky, but she was super sweet.
Our room was great. The bed was comfortable, the room was very clean. Everything worked great. It did get a little loud in the morning, because we were close to the check in but that’s what earplugs are for.
When it came to check out we were running a bit late. We got out of there at about 12 but checkout was at 11. The didn’t make a fuss about it and didn’t try to charge us extra.
I would definitely be back. This place was a great price and in good location with very friendly staff.
