Prime Dental Care

Before my first appointment with Dr. Majd, I hadn’t been to a dentist in almost 3 years. My teeth and my smile are extremely important to me, so of course I was anxious to know if there was any tooth decay. Dr. Majd made me very comfortable during my X-​rays and cleaning, they even have Netflix, which is a bonus. The receptionist is also very nice, and was very helpful when answering any questions regarding my dental insurance. I’m glad to have found Dr. Majd’s office and I will definitely be back soon!

I have been a patient of Dr. Majd for about 9 months and I think she is great. Super conscientious, very patient and listens to her patients. I have been in sd for a few years and been to multiple dental offices. At each office I told the dentists that my teeth are sensitive at the gum line. All hacked and used a very heavy hand when cleaning my teeth. Even after repeated requests for a softer touch my teeth would ache, gums would bleed etc after cleanings.
Dr. Majd listened took it easy on my teeth and now my teeth are clean healthy without the pain. Thanks Dr. Majd!
My only criticism is that she is a solo practice so sometimes I can’t get an appointment when I want. The office does try hard to fit u in, so it’s ok. She is worth the wait. 5 stars

I visited this this dentist a few times. She seemed like she knew what she was doing in the beginning, but that definitely changed when my teeth were in pain days after. She worked on both of my teeth and they both hurt now. Both of my teeth hurt now. She took 3 hours to do a tooth. I was pretty disappointed because she seemed good in the beginning.

I would not recommend going to this dentist at all and my reasons are threefold. For one, Dr. Majd seems to need an assistant because each appointment ran way overtime, one almost making me late for work because she had to keep getting up to leave the room to do other little things, including answering her personal phone. For another, I had some shoddy work done on a chipped tooth. I am extreme about my teeth looking good, but this filling she did on my tooth is uneven and bumpy and is now turning yellow in contrast to my own teeth. It is frustrating to say the least. My last reason to not recommend this place is that each time I had a cleaning or work done things were showing up on my insurance bill that were not actually done. I am now going to another dentist and it is quite the contrast going to an actual professional office. My experiences here have been not good and I would suggest you find another place.

Michelle Majd is a great dentist. Contrary to other reviews, she does not operate a busy dentistry, but actually takes time to complete her work in its entirety. I would rather have her take care of my teeth and go over 30 minutes than to shoo me out the door just to accommodate another request. If there was any downside, it would be that she may have a backup when something goes over the time limit. This is a business decision and I understand that you can’t hire a full time backup just for the rare occasion you go over.
Her office is simple and clean and she has a very kind and gentle demeanor. I have been in high traffic, corporate offices in the past and you will REALLY notice the difference in customer service between theirs and Dr Majd’s office. It is night and day.

I saw Dr. Majd today for problem on several of my teeth she was very friendly and accept my insurance and her job on my teeth was great. I really appreciate her.

Today was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a dentist. I chose this provider based on the Unilocal reviews. I have been experiencing tooth pain for almost 2 weeks and needed to see a dentist. I mentioned to Dr. Majd that I had seen another dentist prior and that I would probably need a root canal. I just needed a second opinion.
Coming in, I knew Dr. Majd would be under staffed, the appointment would take longer, but I read she was gentle and meticulous… so I thought better quality than quantity.
I was not expecting disorganized, dysfunctional, and disturbing! Waiting 3 hours to be seen is not acceptable! Only to see me for 10 minutes, take 3 xrays, and tell me she didn’t know the problem?! She even had the nerve (no pun intended) to ask me what kind of pain meds I would like? Welll isn’t that what a dentist is there for!!! Then suggesting I need a deep cleaning?! WTH!!!
Lady, let’s focus on the problem at hand.
Dr. Majd was clearly clueless, extremely overwhelmed (4 patients in the lobby for her and her 1 assistant/​receptionist), and just wanted to get me out of there. How can any medical professional say, «I give you this or I can give you that? I can do root canal, but I don’t know the problem? You have perfect teeth but it might be gum disease? Come back later for a deep cleaning. But I will refer you to specialist for the problem you have now?»
I waited 3 hours for you to have NOTHING and offer me an option of whatever pain meds I want as compensation for my time? And sell me on a deep cleaning!!! WTF?
After walking out of her office, I immediately called my primary dentist, I was seen right away. Within 15 minutes I was told I need a root canal. And I don’t need a deep cleaning. And I don’t have gum disease.
Wow! Let this be a fair warning to anyone that reads this. Run away! Run far far far away!

Let me preface this by saying I have been to Dr. Majd’s office somewhere between 5 – 10 times from Nov 2013-​June 2014. The reason I saw her so much in this timeframe was because I had 2 insurance companies and she was on the provider list for both of them. I had several cavities filled in Nov/​Dec, along with a deep cleaning, X-​rays, etc. under my HMO/​PPO combination. While she was gentle and explained everything to me and allowed me to watch Netflix during procedures, she was extremely unprofessional when it came to promptness. I would schedule appointments, arrive on time and not be seen for 30+ minutes. That is extremely inconvenient when I’m taking time off work to come. There was one time I had an appointment scheduled for 9:30am, and the dentist didn’t even show up to the office until 10 because she forgot. Even the receptionist remembered to show up on time, but we were both locked out of the office because only Dr. Majd had a key.
I returned to Dr. Majd’s office in May for my 6 month cleaning. The cleaning went fine though it was delayed, as usual, but she incorrectly billed both of my insurance companies for the procedures. This means she was paid twice for the same thing, and I am out $ 100 on my insurance plan that has a fixed annual limit. I also cannot get x-​rays done on my plan until May 2015 because she used up my annual limit without my permission.
I didn’t know this had happened at the time, because the beginning of June is when I returned to have fillings done. We’d decided on one for my upper jaw, and one of the fillings from the fall had fallen out, so she was going to redo that one. At this time, I had switched to having an indemnity insurance policy along with my HMO (rather than the PPO I’d had in the fall). An indemnity policy is one that pays certain amounts per procedure, either as a reimbursement to the client (me) or as payment directly to the dentist. Dr. Majd claimed she did not trust my policy to pay, so she asked me to pay half the cost of my upper jaw filling up front, and if the insurance paid, she would send me a refund. She did not ask me to pay anything for replacing the lower jaw filling. I find this ironic because she had billed my cleaning from a few weeks prior to them as well without asking me to pay anything. Regardless, I paid the half payment up front because I work in insurance and knew my plan would come through. She did my two fillings, and I went on my way.
A few weeks later, I checked on my insurance plan, which is when I found out she billed my insurance for my cleaning, and not one but two fillings! Instead of them paying $ 75, they paid $ 250, which is ¹⁄₆ of my annual limit! When I called to find out why they had gone behind my back and done this, the doctor claimed that they can bill whatever insurance they like regardless of my express wishes. When I advised they’d already been paid by my HMO for my cleaning, they said that amount was so little that they needed the $ 100 from my other policy. I pointed out that she had an agreement with the HMO to perform services for whatever they offered her, but she refused to listen. When I pointed out that she had said there would be no charge to redo my lower jaw filling, she claimed she meant I wouldn’t have had to pay anything, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t charge my insurance. I find that hard to believe because they had already claimed they didn’t trust my insurance to pay in the first place. I’m of an opinion that they had my insurance information available to them and decided to see how much they could get out of the plan.
I’ve already filed complaints with both the BBB and the Dental Board of California due to this deceitful and unethical behavior. I am following up on both of those claims because as stated, I work in insurance and know what fraud is. As a final note, I’ve yet to receive my refund. They claim I can come to the office at any time to get it (why they can’t mail a check is beyond me), but once I said I would file complaints, I was expressly told I was no longer welcome in the office. That’s a rather mixed signal if I ever heard one.
In summary, I wouldn’t send anyone to her ever. While she was gentle on my teeth, she lied to my face and defrauded my insurance company. I won’t stand for that.

This was my experience. You can use it for your own judgement. I went there for the initial exam and the equipment wasn’t working. It seems like everything is computerized. So I waited 45 minutes. After the exam she tried to push for a root canal and crown but I turned it down. While I was in the waiting area, I heard her and the receptionist call me a «big dummy» for not getting a root canal (I was the only patient there). I’m sorry but I don’t have $ 1,000 laying around for a root canal and crown. My children’s teeth come first and I spare no expense with them. I don’t want them to ever have toothaches. I have insurance but she charged me a $ 15 «pain relief prescription» fee. On my follow up visit for treatment there was a foul weird urine smell coming from the back. The people in the waiting room told me the equipment wasn’t working AGAIN and they were waiting for 2 hours. There was a Russian guy scratching his bare feet in the waiting room so I just left. This place has too much of a Third World feel to it. If a dentist is going to be injecting my gums with novocaine the place has to be sanitary. I’m not sure if she is a good dentist because I didn’t stick around to find out. Will be changing dentists immediately. I wouldn’t trust the positive reviews. If you click on «these reviews are not recommended» at the bottom you can see she gave herself a 5 star review. How can you review yourself?! Worst dental experience I have ever had. My appointment was at 5pm, but I was not called until 5:45pm because the patient ahead of me was still being worked on. It was a good thing I did not schedule anything after my dental visit that day, but I highly consider that unprofessional. I at least commend Dr. Madj on taking her time in reviewing my medical questionnaire, but like for the previous patient, she takes WAY too long on her dental procedures. I was there from 5:45pm-8:45pm (almost 9pm) and all I needed was a prophy cleaning. What the heck? :(Even her dental assistant left before I did. It was kinda creepy. I probably could’ve gone out earlier with a root canal procedure in another office. Only prophy (general cleaning) was done, and I had to re-​schedule my free x-​ray exam which I have decided to forgo because her services are THAT bad. One thing I found distasteful — I purchased a topical item from her that is publicly sold (non-​perscription). She opened the item with my permission and applied it to my teeth, and then later told me she will keep the item and it will only be used every time I visit her office. Shady! She eventually allowed me to keep the item I purchased. When I got home, I found out that item (a tube which is supposed to last at least a year) will expire in a month !! I had insurance, but she charged me for my prophy cleaning because she needed to use the scaler for that procedure. Isn’t that supposed to be a standard in other dental offices? In any case, I will not go back to her office. My previous dentist did a better job cleaning my teeth and felt super clean. This one was mehh and way more expensive. Wasted lots of time and money and had lots of frustration with the mistake of taking a chance at this dental office. Not going back!

This is the first time I’ve visited Dr. Majd’s office, and it was great! The office was clean, decorated nicely, and had lots of high-​tech equipment. (Remember those old dental x-​rays? Dr. Majd uses digital, which cuts down on the pain and discomfort ten-​fold)
I came in for a simple cleaning and check-​up, and Dr. Majd had discovered a cavity (my first). Instead of trying to push for a filling or procedure, she told me that the tooth can remineralize and heal itself, depending on my diet and immune system. She also said to monitor it, and to come back in three months to see if it has healed itself.
After my visit, I went home and did some research. I discovered that cavities can apparently heal themselves, with lots of fluoride and a change in diet. Most dentists would have tried to push for a procedure to charge insurance, but Dr. Majd genuinely cares about the patient, and doesn’t want to push anything that would cause pain or discomfort if it’s unnecessary.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Majd to anyone looking for a dentist! Also, I noticed that she does have a receptionist there, so to the Unilocalers who said that she was working alone in her office, that is no longer the case.

If you are reading this then don’t come here DO NOT, she takes so long and the experience was so painful I am still hurting from the pain, real backward office and would NOT recommend PERIOD to terrible

Pros:
–Dr. Madj is very kind, which a lot of other posters have mentioned.
–Her dental work is good, she is very thorough; a bit of a perfectionist.
–Her office is small (many times, she was the only one there in the whole office with me), so you get very individualize attention.
–She will work with your schedule, call you back promptly, and stay late if you need it.
–She’ll make time for you if you are experiencing an emergency.
–If she’s running behind, she’ll check with you to make sure it’s ok that you wait.
–She’ll take your wishes into consideration regarding what dental work you want done, usually taking the least invasive approach.
Cons:
–Each visit averaged 3 hours, regardless of what I was there for. My very first visit was a cleaning only, and that took 2 hours. This sort of time management is not due to dental «surprises,» it’s habit. I believe her practice would benefit from hiring a dental hygienist and receptionist full time, which would help with time management. There is a receptionist there sometimes, which helps a lot.
–Larger offices may benefit from more cutting edge equipment which for the smaller dental office, may not be tangible.
–Her response to another Unilocaler’s post (Du Ma M. 7÷22÷13). What he wrote does not surprise me at all, I’ve seen the same thing (i.e. time management issue). But it is very difficult for a business to respond to a customer complaint (or a doctor to a patient complaint) without coming off as pompous or reluctant to remedy patient issues. I also believe there may be some HIPAA issue with revealing (on Unilocal) any details of the patient’s visit.
Her practice is good and fortunately, there are areas of improvement which if addressed, I think can really improve her practice and catapult her into a more competitive arena.

«It is not like a restaurant that people need to be served. » This is a quote from the dentist, I guess the customer is not alway right since im not at a restaurant. Instead of saying sorry she told me that she was busy with another patient, so i have to wait my turn. I just went to another dentist and loving it.

Very thorough. Gentle. Explained everything being done and why. Accepts my insurance, great.

I went into her office because I saw a teeth cleaning special on her window. My insurance has not kicked in with work yet so the $ 49 basic teeth cleaning, x-​rays and exam sounded like a great deal. (I saw similar pricing on Groupon, but at least this way I know that she would have available appointments and wouldn’t be overbooked)
She is very considerate as she asks if anything hurts and will tell you ahead of time what she will be doing. She is also very honest about what she finds and what she recommends. I especially liked that she used a dental camera to show you what she sees. (You can see the before and after of the cleaning as well!)
There is also a TV in the dental area and she has a wide selection of movies and shows to watch. (Netflix, Hulu Plus and a lot more I can’t remember) Trust me, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER makes going to the dentist a lot more enjoyable.
Dr. Majd does take her time and she is immaculate, but in all honestly, I would prefer that over a quick rush job. I am glad that she took her time even though the service I got was not a very expensive one. That shows me that she takes pride her work… so if I ever need anything that is more complicated… I would definitely return to her.

Michelle Majd is very friendly and gentle.
She always asks if everything is fine.
You also get to choose a movie or TV show to watch the whole time — there’s a TV in the reception area and dental area.
My Blue Cross Dental Insurance said this is the only spot i can go to.
I paid very little out of pocket.
The only little problem — Michelle likes to take her time so everything is immaculate and perfect, but I rather be in and out fast when it comes to the Dentist.
