Radisson Hotel San Diego-Rancho Bernardo

This was a very nice hotel, the rooms were very clean, up to date and had a lot of room. The area is nice and quiet and tucked away in a corner. Everything was clean and up todate it was a very comfortable feeling. The only bad thing was there were a lot of young people there and they were running around screaming and yelling and making way to much noise. This isnt really the hotels fault but it was irritating

Great rooms and great guest service. From the time I checked in to the time I checked out I had nothing but a positive experience with all the staff members. Rooms was very spacious and beds are comfortable. My only complain is that the parking spaces small. If you have a mid size car or larger it will be very difficult to fit into a parking space.

We stayed here for a wedding in SD. The staff was courteous and professional when we checked in. They even asked if we had a preference of floors Excellent room. It was spacious with a very comfortable King bed. Very clean shower and bath. they also had a really decent in hotel complimentary breakfast. Wasn’t free, but on par with some the local establishments. I have no problem driving the extra distance to SD, with accommodations this nice. Intend to stay here again when we come back to SD

Very beautiful place to stay at. My room came with a king size bed and a pull out couch. It was very clean and open. The restroom was nice and came with a bath. The bed was definitely comfortable and so were the pillows. I had complimentary drink stubs and breakfast.

Great rooms– very spacious and comfy beds. Was more like a suite, double the space of most SD hotel rooms we’ve booked. Definitely worth the extra 20 min. drive to stay in Rancho Bernardo area rather than Downtown or La Jolla.
Breakfast had a ton of healthy options (spinach omelette, that’s a first!). The pool and spa were well-​kept, towels stocked well and the hotel was quite quiet in the evenings. Really a place to relax and get away from it all… and feel like a vacation! Also free ample parking– should be a given, right? Another reason to avoid the downtown four star hotels. This place was even better than the 4-​Star Rancho Bernardo Inn that had small, old rooms and a ton of ‘resort fees.’

Ok experience overall but loud neighbors next door. Also the receptionist was racist which I really didn’t appreciate.

Horrible experience… loud crowds… tv doesn’t work properly… Dirty bloody bed sheets… just horrified and also they charged me for smoking when I don’t even smoke never again. Long waits for check in as well if u like having a good nights rest don’t stay here seems more like a cheap motel not worth the 150 per night at all

I felt conflicted about writing this review taking into account that the front desk staff was cordial. However right is right and wrong, well is just that.
I learned of the Radisdon «Hotel» through the Welk’s Resort Marketing department. They offered me a 2 night 3 day stay at the Radisson if I agreed to participate in a presentation for the duration of 2 hours.
I agreed as my intention was to take my daughter to Legoland.
Upon checking into our assigned room there was a strong unfamiliar chemical odor!
I insisted the door be propped and left OPEN, in effort to eliminate the odor.
After mildly achieving that, we closed the door. Just as I begin to relax I wake up to my significant other with my sandal in his hand trying to kill a roach on the T. V!
I wish I could say that it ended there. Once the manager was called to the room they opened the mini fridge only to find a family of them! It looks like we were not the only occupants! That was the first and last time I will ever stay at the Radisson Hotel despite the amount of money they use to renovate their place. My daughter was right in saying this is a motel!

Very Very pleased with the size of the room and how clean it was. Complimentary breakfast and Wifi. Along with letting us checkout late. It’s in a good area, kind of isolated from the city.
Would really recommend it to people visiting out of town and don’t want to deal with a bunch of tourist.

This is an old yet very charming hotel.
Parking is free and conveniently located next to your room.
The lobby is fancy and very cozy. Several lounge chairs and unique wood fixtures designed as tables.
I came here twice for wine and painting and loved the ease of getting in and out of the hotel.
The bar/​restaurant is small yet very filling.
The beer and liquor selection is wide.
There are only a few items available for dinner but all are great selections. I enjoyed their fish and chips my wife had a chicken platter with fries.
I enjoyed a few beers.
I’d be back again. Remember to tip the servers and bartenders well… You’ll be rewarded with more ounces!

My husband and I stayed here, along with my brother and his girlfriend, for my sister’s wedding. We drove together and booked our rooms at separate times. We booked it through Groupon (to get Groupon bucks) and they booked it directly on Radisson’s website. We paid the exact same price. When we checked in, they were told they got free breakfast every day, but we didn’t. But because they did, the staff went ahead and gave us breakfast vouchers too, which was really nice. They were also able to give us rooms next to each other too.
The rooms were really nice. Very spacious and comfortable. We ordered food a few times from the restaurant and it was pretty good and decently priced. The reason for the 4 stars is this: in the bar we ordered drinks, and my husband ordered a Remy Martin, neat and after he had already been sipping on it, he discovered there were a good 15 – 20 dead little flies at the bottom of the glass. He was instantly grossed out. He told the bartender. The bartender poured another shot in another glass and there were STILL dead flies in the bottom. I don’t think it was in the glass; the glass was clean. To me, it seems like it was in the alcohol. The bartender did not even apologize or anything. And still made us pay for the drink. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. The hotel was great, but if you’re going to order a drink the bar: beware and drink at your own risk.

We recently spent a weekend here for 2 nights and myself and my family really enjoyed ourselves. The check in was very quick I literally walked in and walked back out with the room key in a matter of 5 minutes. Has plenty of parking we parked right outside our room. The rooms were nice and clean, beds were very comfy, everything felt clean and was nice looking. They give you complimentary coffee and tea in the room, I didn’t know it was free until our last day when I called the front office to ask if there was a charge for it and the guy that answered didn’t know himself he had to put me on hold to ask. It would have been nice to have been told that at the time I checked in but no biggie. The pool was nice and clean nothing about this hotel felt dirty or dingy so props to the housekeeping crew that maintain this facility very well.
So the minus 2 stars are because…
1. I’ve been reading other Unilocal reviews and it seems that there is a complimentary breakfast given but I was never given that information during my stay.
And …
2. I stayed here with my family which included my husband and my 3 kids of 13 yrs old, 10 yrs old, and 10 months old. I received a phone call from the front desk somewhere between 5pm, to inform me that one of my neighbors complained that my children were making too much noise. First of all we spent a good amount of the day at the safari park and when returned we changed and headed to the pool to cool off from the hot day, we had only been back in our room about 5 minutes before we got the call. I’m sorry but I had a 10 month old with me what am I suppose to do? Put tape over her mouth? Babies cry and they are loud, my other 2 are just like any other pre teen just glued to their tablets and they definitely weren’t making noise. And come on give me a break it was 5 pm are we expected to sit in our rooms quietly and not make a sound. I don’t even think it justified the front desk for calling to question me. It just put a lil damper in our mini getaway. I felt a little singled out because I did have a smaller child. I’m sorry Radisson but your rooms have very thin walls.
All in all my kids had a blast which is the most important thing and my son had already named the Radisson in Rancho Bernardo the destination for his birthday lol!

I got a room from Priceline and it was a really good deal for my staycation. The deal was so good that I wasn’t really expecting much from the hotel. To my surprise, the staff was friendly, there was plenty of parking, and the room was spacious and clean. The pillows were fluffy and the bed was really comfortable. The room also had a lot of channels on the TV which was nice. I had dinner at the restaurant and the food was decent. I paid about $ 11 for my buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. I really liked that the AC system in the room was nice and we got to pick exactly how hot/​cold we wanted our room to be. It was loud but I like loud AC systems because it soothes me.
I don’t really have any complaints but that the shower water pressure kind of sucked. The walls were a little thin but most hotels have that problem. Otherwise, everything else was great!
I would definitely come back! Thank you Radisson for making my staycation a good one!

Booked a week here in April 2015.:
Rooms open to the outdoors, like an old garden motel. This setup unfortunately allows for more road noise.
King bed was softer than I prefer.
No microwave in the room. Important to know if you’re the type of traveler who heats meals in their room.
Old-​style HVAC unit provided ambient noise like that of a jet plane. It doesn’t bother me but might be an issue for those who are light sleepers.
There was no hotel guide in the room, to tell you what’s around or where things are in the hotel. They do at least hand you a map for locating your room when you check in and it does show you where things are in the hotel.
There is restaurant on the premises. With the exception of one pasta dish, there is nothing on the entire menu for vegetarians or vegans. Not representative of California’s health-​conscious lifestyle.
There is a fitness center that is better than most: treadmills, ellipticals, stairmaster, weights and mats for floor work, open 24 hours.
Around the corner there’s a guest laundry, each machine taking $ 1.75 a load.
Comparing this hotel to the Holiday Inn in not-​so-​far-​away Miramar, I definitely think the ten or twenty extra bucks a night there are worth it. More comfortable bed, better towels, nicer layout, quieter. Plus a microwave.

Arrived a little after 11:00PM after traversing the Mojave for a weekend trip in San Diego. Upon our arrival at the hotel on top of the hill, off the 15, we were met with a ruckus going on in the lobby. Drunk as F*&% Raider fans being loud and obnoxious. Their poor wives shushing… but their attempts fell on deaf ears. The clerk behind the counter apologized and said he wished he could tell them to leave. WwHaATt! It’s your joint, tell em to go up to their rooms! I prayed these motley group of silver & black would be no where near us. Lucky, they were not.
Our room was located in the back of the property on the third floor. The room was spacious, even with the two large beds inside. There was an older sort of feel to place and the attempts to upgrade did not go unnoticed. Everything appeared clean enough.
The complimentary breakfast was held at the restaurant located in the center of the property. It was tasty and very good for a «free» meal.
It’s close enough to all things San Diego and was not bad for Groupon.

If I based the review entirely off of customer service & their fantastic breakfast they would have easily earned 5-​stars.
But I have to factor the actual rooms in, as well. And that’s where the property is lacking…
As I said, the employees at the Radisson are friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was good.
The cabana where they serve breakfast was very cool. It’s located poolside, and was always oh-​so-​clean. Bonus: the breakfast was very good. The pancakes they serve are delicious. They had a wide assortment of breakfast items, in addition to the pancakes: oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, fresh fruit.
The hotel, itself was located in a secluded area. And a short drive away there’s a Baron’s Market, among other businesses/​restaurants.
Now, about our room…
It was very spacious. But that’s about all it had going for it.
Lighting was terrible, especially in the bathroom! Not good when you’re applying makeup.
The carpet was filthy. Stained.
There was an electronic thermostat on the wall that didn’t work. Seriously.
You had to manually turn on the heating/​AC unit.
The bathroom wasn’t in good shape. Not to mention that we had a handicap accessible one. There was a fold-​down seat in the tub that was broken. And there were shampoo holders that stuck out of the shower wall. I hit my head on them numerous times!
I never did figure out how the television worked? And I’m not inept when it comes to operating electronics. The tv had two remotes. Neither of which seemed to do anything except turn the tv on? And despite many attempts, all I got was static.
I called the front desk a number of times, to ask about the TV & no one ever answered.
Finally, the Radisson description says this is a San Diego hotel. But it was a good 25 miles from the heart of San Diego.
I used Radisson points for my stay. And that’s the only scenario under which I’d stay there again.
But if I do, at least I know I’ll get a good breakfast.

We stayed here during our yearly road trip. We stayed four days and three nights. The hotel is situated in a business park, which makes it extra quiet during the evening hours. I chose the Radisson due to the pricing, availability, and proximity to where we needed to be.
The front entrance and lobby is quite beautiful. Very well maintained, with a beautiful pool and restaurant. Check in was ok, I made my reservations through Expedia. The front desk attendant was courteous but failed short on manners. While she was checking me in, another customer had walked up and asked questions and left me standing there, with no apologies. I was just standing there after an eight hour drive waiting while she helped this person, who I think, could’ve waited.
Anyway, the room was decent. We had two queen sized beds and I would say it was decent. The only problems we had with our room was, the A/​C unit. It was very loud and the heater would kick on every so often, when it reached the acquired cool temp. We probably should’ve mentioned it to the front desk but we were out and about every day and the only time it was an issue was when we were relaxing after a long day.
The other issue had to with the «parking pass» they tell you that you need to have it displayed or else your vehicle may be towed. Well, we got in quite late one night and there was literally no parking in their lot. Upon close observation, mostly all of the vehicles had no parking pass in sight. I had to drop my mom off close to the room while I found parking in an adjacent lot. Contrary to what is stated, they don’t patrol the lot and your car won’t be towed away.
I’m not sure if I’ll come back, because a friend told me that I would’ve had a better stay at the Holiday Inn down the street. If Expedia had the Holiday Inn as an option, I may have considered it.

My daughter and I ended up staying here this past weekend because we were able to use my brothers free nights since he’s been traveling so much and we were down visiting to celebrate my nephews 1^st Birthday.
The hotel is tucked within a heavily populated business park area so I would imagine they primarily cater to the business travelers for these places. Great spot for that purpose for sure. The lobby is very small but nicely decorated and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They had us checked in and on our way in no time.
Our room was on the 3^rd floor and our room entrance was outside with a view of the parking lot. Oh well. We weren’t planning to stay in the room much anyway. We couldn’t find the elevator so we lugged all of our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. No bueno but we did it! Once at the door we were happily surprised with our room. It was HUGE! The night before we stayed in Scripps at a lesser lower level hotel (that shall remain nameless) and the room there was much smaller and overlooked the freeway. Our room had two queens and plenty of space. I was thinking this was gonna be a nice stay! Well … looks can be deceiving.
As another Unilocaler commented, the bathroom has a pocket door which I understand that they are great space savers for they also allow for little privacy regarding sound «issues». The restroom stalls had no fan for white noise” or air flow so that was a bummer. However they over all look of the bathroom was very nice and I really liked the way the shower curtain had the clear part on top so you could see while taking a shower. I know weird to some but nice for me!
The beds were really uncomfortable. We stayed 2 nights and my daughter and I both agreed neither of us slept good either night at all. I’m always hot so I like to keep the air on or at least a fan running. The air unity in the room didn’t have a fan setting so I had the air on and it went on and off alllllll night. The walls were also very thin. I fell asleep around 11 on the first night while my daughter was out at the movies with the rest of the family. While she was out our neighbors checked into their room and I swear I almost jumped out of bed. It literally sounded like they were coming into my room. It was so loud. Oh, each room has a fridge too and ours came with a half gallon of opened milk! Yuck!
Okay, so lets talk about the «restaurant». The first night we checked in was the night my daughter went to the movies and I stayed behind to rest and check out the hotel «restaurant». It was easy to find (right by the pool) but when I walked in I was so disappointed. Yes they have a full bar and about 6 to 10 seats around it and 4 tables in the small dinning area. There is outdoor seating but no one was out there that late at night because it was cold.
As usual I sat at the bar and asked for a menu and ordered a Mai Tai. The dinning room was filled with 10 older ladies that were part of a group of 60 staying at the hotel. I noticed a few empty bottles on their table and they were a little loud and grouchy. Poor bartender was my first reaction. They weren’t very nice to him at all. If I would have had a few glassed already in me I probably would have said something to them because their indignant behavior was truly uncalled for. But I wasn’t feeling like fighting any battles tonight so I went about my own business.
My Mai Tai was very weak. I didn’t watch him make it but it tasted like he forgot all of the good stuff! Hmm … I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with EXTRA broccoli and EXTRA Alfredo sauce to go. While I waited for my dinner, I ordered another Mai Tai and watched him make it this time. Holly Cow Batman! No wonder I couldn’t taste the «good stuff». He was pouring the liqueur at half counts! HALF COUNTS!!! What kind of bartender does that? I had to wait a good hour for my order to be ready so by the time it arrived all I wanted to do was go back up to my room and eat. So I sucked up the last drops of my COKE, paid and went to my room. Another disappointment …
Remember I ordered EXTRA broccoli and sauce. I opened the lid of my order and ta-​da! There was not only no EXTRA anything, they before me sat cold, lumped noodles with a splash of sauce, a few (like 4) small pieces of cold broccoli and what they call garlic bread but I’d refer to a rock hard croûton! Terrible!
Breakfast was just as lack luster. Scrambled eggs, sausage, frozen potatoes, breakfast breads, cereals and some fruit. Some of the Unilocalers said they got eggs Benedict and breakfast burritos. We didn’t get that but the first morning we had thin tasteless pancakes with cold syrup and the second day they offered cold waffles with more of the cold syrup. It was free or at least included in the room price so I can’t compl
I don’t think we’ll come back.
