Raphael’s Party Rentals

Great experience with Raphael’s post tradeshow. I was notified after the show by Emily (wonderful help!) at Raphael’s that our tradeshow materials were left behind but that everything was picked up. The process in having our items shipped back to our company was easy and pain free! Would recommend these guys and gals after our first experience for sure!

Couldn’t be happier! I was able to find and reserve 300 5 oz brandy snifters, under 30 hours for a clients last minute detail of event tour. Most places won’t even work with you within that short period. Customer service reps were easy to communicate with via phone and email, and I was even given a dispatch number for non operational hours.
Rentals were dropped off and delivered to account without any problems, and within the time frame I specified on the invoice. This was also 1 of 15 + Southern California rental companies that were actually able to accommodate me on such short notice and greater quantity (100).

I recently spoke with Raphael’s to get some tables and linens ordered for a company party and they were very friendly and helpful. I did not pay the additional fee to have the tables set up, but the delivery men were so kind and did it anyway (we didn’t ask them to, they just did it!)! I will definitely use Raphael’s in the future! Thank you!

I was really surprised at how nice the staff were when we decided to rent a bounce house. They came exactly when scheduled and everything was set up perfectly for us. They allowed us to have the rental the whole day and came to pick it up the next day for no extra charge. I would DEFINITELY do business with them again!

Ordered tables and chairs for my baby shower. They’re quick and easy to work with. Delivery and pickup were prompt. No problems here. I’d use them again.

considered using them for our wedding, but after talking to the rude customer service person i’ll be looking elsewhere for our rentals.

Used to use them at least once a year, but have decided to shop around from now on. They are very expensive — surcharges for fuel, etc can add up even further.

Got married at the La Jolla Financial Building and chose Raphael’s for my furniture and lighting rentals because they had done events there before.
The venue is a blank canvas so I had to rely heavily on rentals.
I worked with Golan and he was quick to respond to emails. It was very easy to get my estimate, diagram of the event and to make changes through the process.
Unfortunately he was not so quick to respond at our walk through. He missed the scheduled meeting as well as all my emails and phone calls trying to get a hold of him. Only an hour after our meeting time did I get an apology email. After this incident I spoke with the owner, Philip, who reassured me this would not happen again. When we were able to reschedule the walk through all went well.
A week before the wedding I emailed a very detailed document with venue information, contact information and exactly what needed to get done. In that document and the body of the email I stated in bold that if there were any questions or concerns on the wedding day to contact my day of coordinator or venue manager, because I did not want to deal with any of the logistics on my wedding day.
Wedding day rolls around and at 8am I receive a phone call from a Raphael’s employee that is dropping off the rentals. He has a question on how to get into the venue. I tell him I gave the venue manager’s contact info and he should reach out to him. He calls me back again 2 more times in the next 30 minutes… I finally had to tell him that it’s my wedding day and to not call me again. I gave all the contact info I possibly could have and should not have gotten any phone calls from them.
Overall, the rentals came and everything was as expected and described. Unfortunately service could have been a bit better, especially since this was one of my top wedding expenses.

So glad to know I can count on Raphael’s when needed. (So far, twice).
On latest event I had a last minute change and they took care of it flawlessly.

Update: The day after my Unilocal review, Christina, the office manager, called me to discuss the customer service experience I had. She said that as a result, they were giving their employees more training and gave me a discount. When I picked up my order, the employee who helped me at the counter was very professional, friendly, and on top of things. I think it’s just hit or miss here.

I am giving the highest rating as we were extremely happy with Megan’s guidance and expertise throughout the planning & ordering process. She returned phone calls & e-​mails immediately. We appreciated the decoration suggestions and help in putting together a party for 30+ people for a rehearsal dinner event. It was a huge success. Everything was delivered & picked up on time and any little quirks, which there weren’t many, were taken care of… I highly recommend this company based on our experience.

For my 4^th of July party I asked to have red and blue table cloths and they assured they have them in both colors but I just got the blue ones at the end. Not a huge mistake though!

Raphaels provided the tables and chairs for our May 2015 wedding. We weren’t blown away by their service, but they held up their end of the contract.
Their a bit pricey, but easy to deal with and have a huge selection.

This place is amazing.

I work with a lot of Rental Companies, and honestly if I could give more stars here I would.
My company made a very last minute switch to Raphael’s from Classic Party Rentals for my last Festival, and worked with Steve Jurt who was an absolute life saver.
Not only did they come in at a fraction of the price that Classic was insisting was necessary, the haste in which it was done and the over and above customer service I received was unlike anything I have experienced in event rentals.
Steve was more than a huge help; he bent over backwards to assist me with 2 very last minute needs, including thinking out of the box to make it happen. When I at the last minute needed a refrigerator and they were sold out– he personally cleaned out 2 of the Employee fridges and had them delivered for my use. Dishes not delivered for a dinner 2 hours later– he personally drove them down from Miramar himself. He was the perfect team mate during an intense event with several moving parts. I was blown away with the Customer Service given.
They have hands down, without a doubt won my business in the San Diego area.

I was not presented the choice in rental companies for my wedding at La Jolla Cove Suites. As my only option, Raphael’s provided tables, chairs and a set up for our sand ceremony. They set up the tables and chairs, but did not set up the special table cloth that we ordered for the sand ceremony (said table cloth was left in plastic bag and we barely noticed before the ceremony).
After clean up, the caterer or stranger appeared to have confiscated the single table cloth we rented from Rapheal’s. Our other table clothes came from the catering company. My Raphael’s representative contacted me during my honeymoon about the missing item, and I immediately contacted the caterer. 10 days after the wedding (while in email exchange with the caterer and rep from Raphael’s) they charge my card I had previously authorized for use of the rentals without telling me, which unfortunately overdrew my account. Having just paid for a wedding, I was not expecting another charge on the card, and payday is still 3 days away.
I am disappointed that while in contact with the caterer, who had not confirmed if they have the table cloth or not, I was charge $ 65 for it. They did not mention at all in these back and forths that I would be charge for it immediately, and I was not given an opportunity to provide another form of payment.
I am very disappointed in this level of service for the over-​priced fees that they charge (seriously, where are these $ 65 table cloths coming from?). If you are required to use this company, make sure to count all your items before and after your event, since you’ll have all that extra time to do so.

The company where I work has been using Raphael’s Party Rentals for years and I am always excited to attend any of those parties because I know they will deliver to perfection. So my opinion is not based in someone who has hired them for an event but a user of person attending those events, and I am very observant and picky, however all I can say from these people is that there is always a (great) surprise factor for me: from the lights to the flowers to the vases, to the tables and tablecloths, everything surpasses my expectations. So every time that I see the Raphael’s truck coming close… I know a good party is on the making!

Shortly after my original review, I was contacted by Gloria from Raphael’s Party Rentals. She researched the issue regarding the possible shortage of champagne glasses during my event. Since my sales representative retired in December, she was unable to obtain the full details. In the end, she issued a good faith credit for the amount of glasses that were possibly shorted.
I appreciate the attention to my review and the courteous and prompt response. I value high customer service and Gloria exceeded my expectations.

We used these guys for my wedding, and Thanksgiving.
Affordable.
Friendly.
Efficient.
Went above my expectations.

Raphael’s is a go to for me both with work and personally.
I’ve rented here half a dozen times for events and a couple times on my own as well and I’ve never had a single issue. Generally I pick up my rentals and surprisingly fit them into my Prius. MUCH cheaper than delivery fees if you have a car that can handle it. The pick up door is super easy and the warehouse guys über helpful. I’ve never had a billing issue (Even before the knew I was Trish from Unilocal) and I found the prices and quality of the rentals exactly what I wanted them to be.
For the times I’ve had things delivered they’ve never been late and it’s always been exactly what I was invoiced for.
I highly suggest you talk to Laurie if you’re planning a big event. That broad walks around like go go gadget with magical third arm that turns unto a utility knife. Her purse is like Mary Poppins, I’m pretty sure she’s got a tape measure, an extra extension cord and a hockey stick in there. She can bust out anything from creative booth draping with table-​cloths (True story) to full stadium style lighting. Also recommended is the Lounge Furniture partner they work with. I’m a fancy lady, and when I need a velvety chaise lounge during Fashion Week, they’re who I call.
A couple of highlights: If you shop local and like family owned businesses this is one of the oldest and most established in SD. They’ve got a huge warehouse full of event possibilities, they handle all their linen and floral onsite, and have every color of everything you could need. Including Unilocal Red. Holla!
