Red Roof Inn Pacific Beach/SeaWorld Area, San Diego

Very cozy rooms. Affordable. Although the rooms are a bit small and have very little room to walk around. You get what you pay for. Overall had a pleasant stay. Not to mention free continental breakfast lol

Worst night ever. Paper thin walls. Alarm from electrical room went off around 5 am. Breakfast bar is garbage. Based on employees and occupants looks I would have never booked here.

The parking had really narrow parking spaces.
When we first walked in the room there was this «stench» I had to OD the room with Lysol. The tub looked «dirty» but it’s just old.
The deadbolt & TV did not work in our room. We couldn’t get another room since the hotel was fully occupied.
I guess it’s true you get what you paid for But still does not excuse the room to be this bad.
We’re just disappointed w/​this location since the reviews we had seen on this place wasn’t bad but everyone has different perception of clean or dirty.
Update: Staff are extremely nice I’ll give this place that.
Was able to get different room
Guests upstairs @ 2:12am decided to have their friends over & hung out & partied on the balcony which is right over our room. Called front desk 2x Those guests were thrown out off of property but the guests above decided to retaliate by throwing things around @ 7:44am and stomping It sounded like they were moving the furnitures. Which I know the hotel isn’t responsible for these people’s actions.
Overall this hotel is in a good location Staff are friendly. Not sure we’ll be staying here again

So admittedly this reservation was made with CHEAP in mind since we needed to stay 5 days for s family event… I guess we got what we paid for! First night the people above us were so loud we had to move to another room for the rest of our stay. Also in that room the shower mechanism did not really work without being in danger of jerking it out of the wall! Third floor room was quieter but the sheets were worn and ragged and UNCHANGED until I insisted after 3 nights that they be changed. Really small rooms. Ice machine is only on the first floor and in a dark laundry room real near the street so kinda creepy at night. Luckily we really only occupied the room for sleeping.

2 stars for the staff being courteous… –5 stars for room quality. The pictures are very misleading. The motel not hotel is not worth more than $ 50 a night. I would not recommend the place for a family to stay. This is more of a party hotel for one night stands.

Horrible. Tiny rooms, tight parking spaces, off busy main street with no turn in, ceiling and walls are paper thin. People complaining all the time of noise. Rooms have no carpet but vinyl wood floors that are cold, slippery and noisy. No bathtubs for kids but showers you find at a campground. Nasty pets yapping next door while smokers hang outside on balcony. It is close to Sea World but so what. There are like 100 others right around Sea World. It’s cheaper than most places but just ask yourself — why? And is your sanity and safety worth it? You save hard earned money for a vacation — not another thing to add stress to your life. Will never stay here again.

The photos are definitely misleading the rooms are pretty tiny! However the room is modern. It’s located on the busy street so you can hear the traffic, and the walls are thin you can hear conversations and loud foot steps from the upstairs rooms. If you are looking to sleep and be close to Seaworld this is a good location. This is walking distance to a nice Thai restaurant named Lanna. Highly recommend this restaurant so you don’t lose your parking space since parking is limited. The free breakfast was good Teresita was very gracious and kind and made us waffles both nights!

Horrible hotel motel 6 is way better and the price with it. Shower didn’t work Tub in bathroom looked dirty as well as the floors. Feels grimy

This was a group of 8 of us and we booked 3 nights in 5 rooms and chose this motel because of its proximity to the beach (about 2 miles I think) and to a sailing charter we were going to use near the airport. The reviews were not bad on this site and I never read further.
To start with the positive, the staff were accommodating and tried to make things right within their ability to do so
For the negatives I need to preface this by saying that I almost always stay at hotels that are basic amenity or small mom and pop motels. I don’t need fancy, but I do need clean, and this motel was the dirtiest I think I have ever stayed in.
All the sheets had black marks and black hair (some long black hairs) between the sheets, and all the bedspreads were stained (source not apparent). The tub in our room was filthy with long black hair in it, toilet lid was dirty (something black and sticky) and the clean socks I had put on got short black curly hairs on them from walking around the main room floors which are laminate. Same story when we changed rooms except the tub was a little cleaner.
Many of the passage ways smelled like the dumpster area of a restaurant and some of the air conditioners clattered really loudly.
Second issue was related to safety. When we pulled in there were no less than 4 police cars in front of the motel and in the motel parking lot. There were several officers searching the area and searching through a car in the parking lot with windows that were shattered and broken out. We waited awhile for them to finish the investigation, but finally decided to go get something to eat across the street and drive around. This is not something that inspires a feeling of safety and security.
Those of us who had booked through third party sites were stuck for the first night, but gratefully able to cancel the next 2 nights citing safety concerns. The really sad part was the loss of at least 4 hours out of our trip trying to get the accommodation situation straightened out for all 8 of us when we should have been able to check in after our long drive and start our vacation.
We ended up booking a little further north at a Holiday Inn Express in La Jolla that was amazing. It was a longer Über ride to the sailing charter, and there were only a couple of larger rooms/​suites available so we just bunked in together… but well worth it. Very very nice clean place and just 1 blocks walk to the beach.

Very average hotel… But you get what you pay for in my opinion. The rooms are small, but I just needed a place to sleep and it provides just that. There was free wifi, lots of power outlets, and some free breakfast. And when I checked in on Unilocal I got a free bottle of water!

Great, stress-​free stay. Management was nice and accommodating, rooms felt clean and location was convenient. It was enjoyable and easy stay for my roommate and I but won’t recommend for big families /​groups. Price seemed reasonable and the location didn’t feel unsafe.

We just needed a 1 night stay in town and ended up here. The rooms have the same layout as the photos but are not as like the photos. There is a foul smell, dirty moist sticky floors, and extremely small room. The beds are not comfortable and there were a few crumbs on the bed and on the night stand (room was cleaned by Tracy). There is also a homeless guy sleeping in the parking lot near someone’s car. The staff that checked us in was friendly and polite so that received 1 star but I do not recommend this place…

Looking for a hotel near SeaWorld and this place is a clean, nice hotel. Main complaint is rooms are very, very tiny. They also have free parking onsite, but only 1 car per room and only exactly enough spaces for 1 car per room. The free breakfast is okay, nothing great. WiFi is actually really good (for hotel wifi). Decent place if going to SeaWorld (about a 8 minute drive).

LOCATION: close to the freeway, Sea World and if you plan on going drinking in the bars in Pacific beach you can take Über, Lyft, taxi (less than $ 10/​ride)
FREE BREAKFAST: the waffles were delicious
STAFF: very friendly and helpful
PETS: allowed without extra cost
ROOMS: they have a small refrigerator and microwave
Bathroom: clean
FREE Parking (but limited)
Cons:
ROOMS: very small
— Walls are too thin. (our first night — i woke up at 2am to a girl mourning and screaming for more sex– heard all the action for at least 30 mins)
Bathroom: Towels are not clean (Good thing i always bring my own towel)
Notes:
Bring Mosquito repellent because i saw 2 – 3 mosquitoes that were in the room
Free breakfast is from 7am-​10am

Got the hood of car heavily keyed in their parking lot. It took quite some effort to get the manager co-​operating and looking into this, but the result was that the security surveillance recordings have been spotty and they have apparently not registered all the guest cars
Total damage 1,300 $
Will never stay at this hotel ever again.

The staff was very friendly. Once we got up to our room the phone rang, it was the sweet woman from the front desk making sure we were pleased with the room. Very nice of her. It’s little things like that that count.
From the outside it didn’t look like much, but I was very pleased once I saw our room. Very clean. Microwave, refrigerator, spacious bathroom. I was very pleased with our stay here. For being on a budget we still got to stay in a clean, updated and comfortable room.

We love Red Roof Inn! Especially after this stay. It’s just been all around wonderful. The location is pretty central, you can hop on a bus two blocks down and be downtown in 15 minutes. It’s close to 7eleven, McDonalds, and In N Out so that’s pretty convenient. We’ve been here a week and haven’t encountered a single bug. So clean and comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly! Like seriously they’ve been amazing. It’s affordable at $ 65 on weekdays and $ 89 on weekends but the best part is that there are NO PET FEES OR DEPOSITS! It has really exceeded all of our expectations for a «budget» hotel. Oh and they offer free breakfast with fresh, huge, waffles made by a sweet attendant. Thanks Red Roof!

My experience here was good. The staff was super nice and helped us out whenever we needed. It is located at a very convenient place (close to bars & beach).
The bad things were that the walls are super thin! I could here everything our neighbors and upstairs people did. The upstairs people were so noisy and loud they would wake us up throughout the night. Luckily, I called the front desk and she handled it. For a min only then they started up again. Also, you cant leave any time after 5pm because you will lose your parking and have to park in the street. When I asked if it was safe to leave my car in the street, the guy was a little rude it said it wasn’t his responsibility. I get that but I feel it is their responsibility to provide more parking. The pictures are a little deceiving. The room was pretty dirty but I’ve stayed at worse so was nice compared to others.
Other than those things, I might stay here again. I’m a very light sleeper and don’t know if I’d be comfortable here again.

Very friendly staff.
Rooms are small :/​crowded with the furniture. Mattress not the most comfy one but all was very clean. The walls must be made out of paper cause you’ll hear the next room neighbor getting undressed. Not to mention the noise of footsteps from the room above.
Good for one or max two nites since it is located on a busy road and adjacent to a car dealership that has a busy body-​shop. You’ll hear their callings through the speaker throughout the day. Breakfast leaves many unfulfilled wishes. and the most disappointing part: no milk for coffee. Just powdered coffee mate

Pretty good deal, $ 99/​night for a queen, one bedroom.
Room — pretty small, you walk in and that’s it. The photo looks just like the room, but minus your expectation by like 30%.
Air conditioning is the unit on the wall which could be a little loud throughout the night. The room is quite clean but very small. They’ve updated the hotel so everything looks pretty new. They also allow pets, which is good to know.
The bed is a bit firm for my taste, but not bad for a reasonably priced hotel room. Pillows are the poly filled, but clean sheets, clean pillow cases are always a plus.
Too bad they only put one bath towel in our room (I’m sure you could call front desk to ask for another one, but I brought an extra towel… so no problem there.
Bathroom is not as pretty as the bedroom, older tile floor, but clean nonetheless.
Breakfast:
Pretty good, great selection of muffins, danishes, breads, cereals coffees, fresh fruits, believe it or not… there’s a lady upkeeping the whole breakfast area and will also make you fresh waffles! pretty good deal for a hotel breakfast!
