Residence Inn San Diego Rancho Bernardo/Carmel Mountain Ranch

Great staff and comfy clean place to stay. The two bedroom suite was a little on the small side but it was enough. Didn’t get to use the pool or basketball court but they were clean and available. The dogs loved the yard and its proximity to starbucks was great.

Great experience here. Shout out to our housekeeper Conchita who kept out pad super clean, and to the extremely nice maintenance guy Jaime for bringing us extra towels.

Stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and had plenty of space except for one of the bathrooms which was rather small. I am 6 foot 4 inches so had no luck with the master bath but luckily the second bathroom was larger in size. Bathrooms were also outdated but what makes this place 5 stars is their wonderful staff who keep the rooms meticulous. Upon checking in front desk were extremely friendly and accommodating. Bernard was also extremely helpful and was exceptional in assisting in making sure room was as requested. Room was extremely quiet. I am an extremely light sleeper so I always request a quiet room prior to checking in. Breakfast buffets were also very well maintained and food was great. Staff are amazing.

Small rooms and dining area. No place to stand or sit at 6:30am for breakfast! No lotion provided in the rooms. Also dont forget to get your own wooden log for the fireplace. Bahahaha

Stayed here a few nights for work. Room was comfortable and clean, plus all the amenities worked. Its close to the freeway, groceries, and stores. Theres even a gas station in the same parking lot. Parking lot was just fine… a little tight for turning, in my opinion. The only negative thing was that my room was facing the side of the main entrance and i literally overlooked the lobby; unfortunately, they make deliveries at 330 in the morning Mondays & Thursdays, and the noise below woke me up and kept me up for about 45 min. I cant and wont blame the hotel for receiving supplies it needs to function, but id suggest getting a room away from the main lobby. They serve snacks in the evening which looked fine. Breakfast was more or less continental, and the food was fine. Clearly, the residence inn isn a resort, but i can tell they work hard to provide a good stay.

we were a group renting out the conference room along with some hotel rooms, and there was something with the sinks that my group couldn’t use them. the next year we come back and we find out that they changed the sinks just for us! also the staff really communicate which is amazing cuz that way no matter who is working the front desk, they know what your needs are. also the rooms are amazing with a truly full sized fridge and freezer, a dish washer, a stove with two burners, a toaster, a coffee maker, and plates, utensils, strainers, mugs, and glasses are provided. also they have a great service where you can leave them a grocery list and they will buy your stuff for you for free (you have to pay for the items itself, but not for the service)!

The accommodations here were very nice and the complimentary breakfast and sometimes snacks were pretty good. One breakfast I had was biscuits and gravy but both the biscuits and gravy lacked flavor. The sausage was pretty good and the muffins and waffles were the best items available. There was also a evening snack of Bree cheese and bread with some vegetables, wine and beers. I was a little disappointed that there was not any salami to compliment the cheese or to at least have some protein instead of the carbs. The TV has only basic cable channels available with few options. There were also channels that were only in standard definition instead of high definition. The shower was the best shower I have ever had. The water was clean and refreshing and there was a massaging option that worked many knots out of my shoulders. The soaps were also very soft and the shampoo a high quality brand. I wish I could go again to relax.

I’ve stayed at several Residence Inns but sorta dislike this location. Yes, it’s right off the freeway but can be a bit hard to find being that this hotel is tucked behind a shopping plaza and Chevron gas station. The «front» of the hotel is not clearly visible as it blends in with most of the buildings.
This is a 3-​story Residence Inn and the rooms are smaller than the other Residence Inns compared to the La Jolla and San Marcos locations nearby; however, the price can’t be beat.
They do have parking spaces available around the establishment vs being in just one area, which is great when you have a ton of bags and luggage a to carry around. There are a ton of stairs here so I wouldn’t recommend it for families with strollers – unless you have the first floor.
Overall, same amenities as with most Residence Inns (kitchenette, free parking, breakfast, small gym, etc). I’d say this is a better place to stay if you’re in the area for business.

— Stairs (considering strollers/walkers/wheelchairs)…can be a Pro for those who prefer stairs

The suites are extremely small not your typical suite size, I was expecting more space and a bigger bed. I believe the bed was a full size but stated in the description as a queen (no way) When we arrived at our room we were greeted with a big wet stain on the carpet, besides that the room was extremely clean.
The breakfast was good however the lounge was so small. I just don’t understand how do you expect customers to eat comfortably when you’re elbow to elbow, I even witnessed a father sitting his 2 y/​o on the floor so she could eat, since there was no room at any of the tables, even the chairs by the pool was all occupied.
But I loved the walking distance from the hotel to the strip mall and various restaurants.
The staff was great! The only one I can remember is Patricia since she was the last person I interacted with prior to checking out.

We had a 1 bedroom and the outside room had a pull out. Towels were very rough and worn. Floors dirty. The blanket that was for the roll away was very worn with holes. The whole place was a bit worn in general. Elevator smelled (someone must have thrown up) and the carpeted elevator floors were filthy. Minus 2 stars
Ate breakfast at 8:45 (says it closes at 9:30 on Saturdays). Scramble eggs, patty sausages, oatmeal, waffles, cereal, bagels, yogurt, minimal fruit-​food ok– did not get sick. They were out of several items or at least were not replenishing the areas in due time– even drinks-​minus a star. (Btw they should have a sign to tell parents to not let kids handle their waffle –I saw a 7 year old almost burn his hand reaching over to pour his batter! I know it’s not the inn’s fault)
Area is convenient with a large gas station right across the street. +1 star
I don’t think I’ll stay again unless I hear it’s been redesigned.

First off I made a Unilocal just for this review. I have been staying here for the past week while my house is under construction and up till yesterday it was a pleasant stay. I came back after work to find that something was stolen from my room. It was not an extremely expensive object but it had value to me. I went to the front desk and talked with the receptionist and I know she did what protocol she had and I knew I probably wouldn’t get it back. I am sad to say I am very disappointed that I have to stay here another 2 weeks and I have to carry all my belongings on me for fear of them being stolen. So to whomever stays here I would not leave any valuables in the room while you are gone.

So thankful they allow pets. During the fires in May, we were evacuated and out of our home for 4 days (My husband, I, and 2 cats). My company was so gracious and paid for our hotel while we were evacuated.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was chaotic with so many people being displaced, but the staff kept on top of everything. The free breakfast they offered every morning was wonderful! A awesome variety of breakfast food: diy waffles; eggs; bacon/​sausage; fruit; cereal; toast etc.
The rooms were amazing, small suites with a full kitchen. It really was nice to have a little home feel while being homeless. It also helped to keep food cost down since we were able to cook in our room. They also have onsite laundry at a reasonable price. I was at work during the evacuation and only had the clothes on my back during the evacuation.
Because our stay was so nice during this time, we will now be using Residence Inns when we travel with our pets.

I’ve stayed at other residence inns that were overall much nicer than this one. The room wasn’t bad, but the front staff and the bed were one of the worst of any hotel I’ve stayed at. There was also a lot of noise in the hallways you could hear early in the morning.

I didn’t stay over at the residence inn, but it seems to be a very nice place and especially great for family stays. However, with the receptionist there speaking poor English and do not really understand English properly is a huge turn down.
Had to drop off some guest and left my credit card for incidentals, which was normal, but they end up charging my card for the rooms. I had to go through alot explaining and calling to get my my refund, and by the end they still charged me $ 20 in-​room movie which they claimed that it’s just a hold.

Great hotel ruined by bad bad receptionist.

This place is nice if you’re staying for an extended time and want to have the convenience of a small kitchen for preparing meals. It’s also clean, and close to lots of restaurants. The complimentary breakfast is decent, with eggs, waffles and sausage in addition to the standard continental offerings.
The bed is small, and ridiculously uncomfortable! I think it’s the same size as my full bed at home, but advertised as a queen…
It’s a pet-​friendly hotel, so the rooms have a slight odor to them, and there are dogs barking at various times. My little daughter got freaked out by the larger dogs on a couple occasions, and she also pointed out a pile of poo which papa had almost stepped in.
The maid servicing my room also ignored the «do not disturb» sign on the door and woke my little daughter from her nap. That’s a major no-​no in the parent-​travel handbook.

Stayed here last weekend (5÷18−19÷13).

Nothing can make or break an experience like one’s first encounter. Sadly, this was customer service. We arrived around 10pm and were looking to get checked into our room we had reserved.
We walk into the lobby, notice nobody around and a lady sitting in the back of the office. So we stood around the desk waiting to see if anyone shows up. Eventually this lady notices us and comes to the front explaining she was busy. (Busy with what?)
To make things more frustrating, she couldn’t find our reservation, even though it was printed out right there on the print out we brought with us from home. My wife had to actually point it out to her on the paper (even though it was the largest print on the paper itself, ironically).
The final frustration came from this lady’s «instructions» on how to get to our hotel room. Take this elevator, turn here, go there. (As opposed to «make a right once you exit the elevator). Needless to say, her directions were about as helpful as yeast infection.
After a wrong turn and walking down the wrong area, thanks to her helpful instructions, we finally arrived at our hotel room.
The rooms themselves were good, above average I’d say. The only drawback we experienced was the black widow spider lounging in the bathtub.
TL;DR — Customer service is shit, but the rooms help take the edge off that.

This Residence Inn is A-​OK. No complaints. Comfortable beds. Nice accommodations. Good breakfast in the lobby. Pool.

I stayed here with my family over the summer for a short vacay to SD for the fact that it was close to the beaches, zoo, and Coronado. We knew it was a pet friendly hotel. What we didn’t know was that we were going home with flea bites on our bodies, and that it was going to smell like dog urine in both our bedrooms.
Everything else was nice. Our room was a good size. 2 bedrooms/​2 baths with a living room and kitchen. There was also a complimentary hot breakfast buffet every morning. One morning there was even a pot of rice and soy sauce, which I enjoyed with my eggs. Many Asian tourists perhaps?

Not bad… but I wouldn’t pay for the hotel myself.
So in the winter time (when it’s actually cold), it’s not much fun because your room leads directly to the outside. And… the heated swimming pool and jacuzzi aren’t that appealing either, since they’re outdoors.
I do enjoy their free breakfast every day of the week – I think it’s a standard Residence Inn thing that they prepare. The dinner (served Mon-​Fri) is mehh… unless you can call a baked potato with the same sour cream, salsa and cheese they have out for breakfast, dinner.
Something really minuscule but I found strange is that… they don’t provide complimentary lotion here? And I feel like I definitely need it here because the water’s kinda hard.
My bigggesstt complaint is that there’s no wi-​fi. the ethernet cable is only in the living room area. My laziness requires using my laptop on the bed, and it is not possible here. Thumbs down.
