Our mission at Ribeiro La Mesa is to empower our students with the knowledge and training that embodies Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu. Our goal is to feed the spirit as well as the body. We seek out others who share the core values of Ribeiro Jitsu; Attitude, Dedication, Respect, Family, Loyalty, and Honor, so that we may grow strong not only as a school but as a family.

History

Established in 2014.

the Ribeiro Jiu-​Jitsu Association (RJJA) was established and overseen by world renowned Jiu-​Jitsu fighters, Saulo Ribeiro and Xande Ribeiro. Saulo Ribeiro is considered to be one of the premier BJJ instructors in the world today and one of the greatest BJJ champions in history. Saulo is the only Jiu-​Jitsu fighter in history to win world titles at five different weight divisions; a feat many believe will never be replicated.

Lead Instructor Julio Villanueva — Black Belt under Saulo Ribeiro

Julio has been teaching Jiu Jitsu to both adults and kids for the past few years. His passion for the art began years ago when he was introduced to his first class by a family member. Julio instantaneously fell in love with the martial art. Coming from a wrestling background Julio had some knowledge of the art of grappling but he had never been exposed to the various submissions that are associated with Jiu Jitsu. He dedicated countless hours to developing his newfound craft always willing to test himself in various tournaments. Julio’s willingness to pass on the knowledge he had accrued over the years made him a perfect fit as an instructor. Through teaching he has seen the impact Jiu Jitsu has on his students’ lives and is eager to share this powerful art with all who seek it.

Julio is also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps
