Stopped by this morning for a Southern Hospitality(cold brew –medium roast, sugar, mint, milk, ice). What the menu doesn’t mention is that it is crafted delicately by hand — fresh mint leaves muddled with sugar(not syrup, yay!), cold brew and milk of choice added(cow, coconut, almond), and then hand shaken like a craft cocktail in true barista fashion. Waited behind two pour over orders which are by no means quick orders, but definitely worth the wait. So tasty — smooth and refreshing. Lightly sweet and perfect amount of mint. Way better than any syrup-based coffee drink. I’m in town for a 3 day conference and have found my coffee spot for next few days! Definitely created some jealousy among my colleagues who made a different choice this morning at(rhymes with) Barstucks.

Fantastic pour over. We went every morning of our visit. It will take a few minutes longer than your average coffee joint, but well worth the wait.

Great pour over coffee. Ever so smooth tasting. The staff at the cart are cheerful and excellent conversationalists. The swami is an excellent medium roasted blend. The death before decaf was a full body dark roast. They use brown sugar and cream so be sure to tell them your preference on sweetness and creaminess. Can’t wait to come back and try out the other flavours.

This is one of my favorite brewers. I am thrilled to find out that they are opening two new locations. I am hoping that the new locations have better parking. They are a great place to just chill and kill an afternoon, or to set up and get some work done. If you do come here, you have to try the salami sandwich. It is shaved just thin enough, and is not fatty, to make the perfect sandwich.

Really glad I stopped by today and tried their pour over coffee I went with the Batista favorite since I couldn’t choose. It was the swami. I had her add a little bit of sugar and some cream and it came out perfect the first time. One of the best pour over coffee I’ve had. It was a medium roast with a bold body flavor. Def recommend It for anyone who likes a good medium roast!

Seriously, bypass all the other coffee joints downtown and try this roast coach stand b/c the coffee is unbelievably delicious. The Dealer’s Choice poured over ice was phenomenal… it wasn’t too sweet, and not overpowering in flavor(cinnamon). They make their own simple syrup and infuse it with fresh vanilla beans – YUM!

I ordered Death by Decaf pour over coffee. It was the smoothest, most delicious bold coffee I have EVER tasted. I’m sad I can’t get this coffee every morning! Next time I will ask for the water to be a bit hotter, since when I add cream it cooled down the coffee a bit.

I’ve had this bookmarked for months and gave up since I don’t frequent San Diego… until this past weekend. I walked up the street, looked over and literally screamed on the inside, let out a squeal and turned my husband like a deer in headlights Hahaha !! The pour over coffee is fresh, smooth and soooo delicious. Service was friendly & our questions were answered politely with an unpretentious knowledge of coffee.

I just love the name of this coffee stand! Forget Starbucks & walk the two blocks to Roast Coach for a good cup of coffee. They have some unique blends such as the Mt. Soledad and Torrey Pines. Plus, Ivan is super friendly.

I was very disappointed after reading all of the great reviews. My coffee was $ 4.00 and it was Luke warm to cold at best. I always thought that coffee roasters had the temperature right. However, the server was very nice.

There were so many coffee places to choose from in downtown, but I was closest to the Roast Coach. I Tried the Dealer’s Choice(dark roast with cinnamon, vanilla, and cream) and The Turk(mint, cinnamon, cream, sugar). I enjoyed the Dealer’s Choice which had a great mocha cinnamon flavor and wasn’t overly sweet(I do wish it was a little more bitter/stronger though). The Turk however, was underwhelming– it tasted like a watered down Mint Mojito from Philz. The place itself seemed cute and the customer service super friendly.

Fast, low key and walk up coffee stand right off 6th, just down from J. Reasonable prices for some fine smooth coffee. I got the recommended Swami pour over and it’s was perfect. They have a small selection of treats as well. Try the rugalah!

When I travel, I am always on the look out for a source of good coffee. Roast Coach satisfied my every caffeine need — delicious iced coffee mixed drinks, fantastic espresso, and pour overs. Even more fortunate, this coffee bar was located a mere half block from my hotel. I went every morning and recommended to my friends and colleagues. I wish we had a roast coach in DC!

Fast service. Convenient location. Excellent coffee. I wanted a cold brew so I asked the barista what her favorite was. She recommended the Dealers Choice. I agreed. She made the coffee quickly and gave it a good shake. Coffee was really good. If I’m ever back in Gaslamp and need some coffee I’ll be back.

During our stay in SD, we stopped here for coffee almost every day. I tried all three special cold brews as well as an iced latte and an iced chai made dirty(with a shot of espresso added). I also tasted my hubby’s mocha & cold press coffee. Everything we tried was fantastic. Try The Turk! The service is friendly — Ally is great!, the coffee is delicious and the aroma is so enticing. Each drink is individually prepared so be ready to allow time for the creations to be made. They’re worth it!

Girls here are incredibly sweet. I just asked for something cold and something sweet and they quickly pointed me to Dealer’s Choice. Dealer’s Choice is a dark roast with cinnamon, vanilla, and cream. AMAZING. SOGOOD. Don’t waste your time with a cold drink from Starbucks down the street! Support a local business. It’s so good it’s almost bad because I know that I’ll be a frequent customer since it’s incredibly close to my office.

What a great little find while walking around downtown! We were headed out and randomly passed by this little coffee stand! Watching them work their magic pour overs behind the counter is part of the fun experience of ordering. We ordered a «death before decaf» and an iced chai. Both were delicious! The coffee was very strong but was very flavorful and fresh along with sweeter instead of bitter. I always prefer smaller local coffee houses then big corporate biz. Try it out!

When working at the Solamar half a block up 6th ave, I used to come to this coffee cart about everyday. The coffee was the best in the Gaslamp, and the people making it were even better. The combination of coffee and good conversation(you’re the best Allie!) often made my mornings, and I ALWAYS left happy. I usually would stick to the single-origins. particularly the Central American roasts. Their cold brew is also some of the best and strongest I’ve ever had. I even got all of my coworkers to drink it as regularly as me, sometimes going 3 – 4 times a day. Oh, and the pastries! I’ve had them all, and they’re all great. If I could, I’d commute for their coffee. For now, I’ll settle for once a month and sending every person I know towards the coffee cart on 6th and J. Thanks Roast Coach!

Delicious pour over coffee and house made pastries right on the street. I got the Dealer’s choice– pourover with cinnamon, fresh vanilla, and a splash of cream. Yum. It’s little pricey but great quality. I really wanted to try the Turk too– I think it has mint, cardamom and sugar. The only downside, make sure you have some time. There’s only one barista who is awesome at multitasking but even if you’re in front of others she makes most of them at the same time. I was on my way to a course at the convention center and I was definitely late. But my coffee was good so it was hard to care. The best I had had during my week long stay in SD.
