Kristen did the makeup for my wedding and she was awesome from start to finish! We did a trial in advance and she listened to what I liked and created a beautiful look. The day of the wedding she made everyone look fabulous while keeping us all on schedule. I don’t normally wear much makeup but I felt completely natural and beautiful with Kristen’s makeup job. Also, that makeup seriously stayed put because I was going from 6am till 2am the next morning and still looking fab! I would recommend her to anyone! Thanks Kristen!

My makeup was wonderful and I felt beautiful in my save the date photos ! I was treated very well and pampered! I appreciated all the patience she had with me as well as guidance with makeup help and tips for the future. I requested a last minute time change and she accommodated me… which I greatly appreciated too!

Kristin is incredibly talented, kind, and dedicated. Finding a great makeup artist for my wedding was important to me — I have melasma and didn’t want my makeup to look «caked on» and unnatural. I am rarely happy with my makeup when it is professionally done — and I LOVED my makeup on my wedding day.
Kristen was in a car accident a day or 2 before my wedding. Even though she was in a lot of pain, she still showed up on the wedding day — cast and all! I can’t thank her enough for her dedication — as much as I would have preferred that she prioritize taking care of herself during such a time, it was really amazing to have the peace of mind of having my melasma covered up flawlessly and naturally on my wedding day. I developed the melasma on my face (spots of hyper-​pigmentation) a couple of years ago, and I had been very self-​conscious about it.
Before I found Kristen online, I had a make-​up trial with another artist who works with celebrities in LA. The trial with this other artist went horribly, my makeup looked awful, VERY «cakey», and overdone. She didn’t take the look I was going for into consideration — she went with the whole «more is better» style, which isn’t me. My face felt like it was suffocating and I looked ridiculous. So I did more research online and found Kristin — I am so glad I did. Not only is she an incredibly talented make-​up artist, but her prices are very reasonable and she is wonderful to work with.
I showed her a few photos of the look I was going for and she nailed it. Which I didn’t think was possible given my melasma! A combo of glamorous and natural.
My bridesmaids also wanted very natural looking makeup. They looked beautiful and were very happy with their makeup as well.
I highly recommend Kristen — she is a talented and wonderful person.

Kristen is absolutely delightful to work with. Her communication style is professional and laid back and she carefully listens to what her client wants. I hired Kristen and Meghan (a hair stylist that works with Kristen) for my recent wedding. They were both punctual, friendly and mega talented. I really appreciated it when Kristen checked in with me the day before and then on the morning of the wedding. Obviously, she knows that things can get hectic and tries to keep the stress level down for the bride. For the make-​up, Kristen did an elegant, romantic look that perfectly matched my bridal style and she did it all with very little guidance. She also worked on my sister with the same creativity, patience and style. We both loved the results. The make up stayed on all night. Meghan, the hair stylist, did a fantastic job on our hair. These girls work nicely as a team and I would definitely recommend hiring them for your big day

Kristen is one of the best makeup artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with! She did my makeup for my wedding and it was incredible! We had a trial a couple months earlier so I could see what I liked, and she NAILED it. The final result was unreal… I felt absolutely beautiful. She knew what colors to use with my skintone and my eye color… my hazel eyes POPPED (which is my favorite feature). Thinking back, I am still in awe of her talent and expertise. Plus, she’s super nice, bubbly and fun– we got along famously :)
She came to the hotel where I was getting ready, and did everything there. We were running a little late and she totally made it work and helped to calm me down because I felt so bad that we pushed things back a bit– but she was cool as a cucumber– super sweet and understanding!
She did my mom’s makeup too, she looked gorgeous and natural! The makeup wasn’t caked on, just light and natural looking. We felt like rock stars!
I would recommend Kristen to anyone who is looking for professional makeup or just makeup for a night on the town! Love her!

I had a photo shoot for my website and contacted Kristen to do my makeup. She came highly referred so I was excited to try her. I’ve not always had great makeup experiences with trying out new makeup artists, but this was great! She listened to what I wanted and delivered. I can’t wait to go see her again. I would highly recommend her.

Went to Rock and Royal for my engagement makeup and then went back for my bridal makeup. I had my hair and makeup for my wedding done with this studio and they were absolutely amazing. I have pretty bad skin and redness from acne scars, but after she was done with me, OMG no one could tell. My face looked flawless. I got married in August, so it was really hot, but even in the heat my makeup stayed on. She is a little bit on a higher end in terms of pricing, but i think that it was totally worth it. She was great to work with, made suggestions and listened to my concerns or input. She was not at all upset, if i asked her to change something. She just made it easy for you to feel comfortable with her. I loved it.

Thank you, Kristen for doing such an amazing job on my make-​up this past weekend. I was in La Jolla for the weekend for a wedding and was looking for a local makeup artist and there she was — located in a super convenient area and she suggested a hair place — Blow Darling — that was 25 ft away from her studio. I was super happy with the results AND we had great conversation as she was applying my make up. One of the things I appreciated most was that, she was super honest. Thank you so-​so much. If I’m ever in La Jolla again for a wedding or any big event, I will definitely come see her. :)

Kristen did my makeup for my wedding last week and it was seriously amazing! I just showed her a few pictures of the general style of makeup I like and she instantly understood what I wanted and how to do it.
She came out to the house I was getting ready at and did the whole thing there. She also did my sister and best friend’s makeup — they both came out totally beautiful too! Our skin glowed, our eyes popped, and everything just looked so glamorous but also natural, not like you looked like you had a ton of makeup on.
I got fake eyelashes for the day too which were perfect, you couldn’t feel them once they were set and they definitely added that extra oomph that is great for wedding photos. I really liked her laid back personality and her talent… she is truly a skilled makeup artist and I would recommend her to anyone!

Pat is AMAZING at eyelash extensions! I’m completely addicted because I get so much attention when I’m wearing them! I haven’t had to wear eye makeup in over a year. Pat always remembers my preferences and ways to make me comfortable on the table since I have health problems. She takes her time and always makes sure my lashes are stunning. She’s meticulous and a perfectionist. A lot of my friends have had lashes done by other people who use super heavy lashes and inferior glue and have had their lashes break off. Pat uses high quality glue and only the lighter lashes that won’t damage mine. You will love her work!

I went to rock&royal to get eyelash extensions. It was awesome! Pat did them for me. She took the time to ask me what i wanted and collaborated with me using her expertise on eye shape and the condition of my natural lashes. Throughout the process she always made sure i was comfortable. When it was all said and done, I loved the way they looked. She gave me great tips to have longevity with the extensions. I have received a million compliments on my lashes. I have been back since to get touch ups and the quality of service has never wavered from day one.

Came to Rock & Royal Makeup Studio for my engagement party make up. The studio is tucked away in a cute little row of cottages with various beauty salons. The owner, Kristen, was very professional and friendly.
I gave her some direction on what I wanted and she did an even better job than I could have ever expected. Best make-​up ever! All my friends and family complimented me on it. It looked so natural yet she subtly had enhanced all my best features.
Loved the make up so much I hope she will be available for my wedding.
With such amazing skills and great rates if I lived in SD I would get my make up done weekly by her.

I went to Rock and Royal on a suggestion from a friend. I wanted eyelash extensions and Pat did them for me. WOW. It was an amazing experience, I love the lashes, do not even notice they are there, no weight to them at all.
I have gotten sooo many compliments…

Kristen did a fantastic make up lesson and consultation for us. She has a great manner about her even though there were tons of things my friend and I had been doing wrong! She have us lots of useful tips and step by step instructions on how to apply and what to use. So helpful! We both walked out of there with exactly what we needed and feeling like fresh, pretty new women! And Kristen really went out of her way to spend extra time with us. A great experience!

Every time I come in, I come out looking like a rock star, Kristen has a great talent, she’s fun, the studio is fantastic and intimate, and I love the fake lash deal. She’s doing my makeup for my wedding.

I stumbled upon this salon and then looked up the Unilocal reviews. Kristen’s Unilocal reviews really impressed me so I booked a trial. Kristen really took her time at my trial. My wedding ceremony was at 2pm but my reception lasted from 5:30pm-11pm. Kristen was able to do makeup that was light enough for an afternoon ceremony in a church but dramatic enough for a large night reception.
Kristen only does makeup but during my trial I told her I was looking for a hair stylist for a very simple half up/​half down do. I had bridesmaids that wanted services too so she brought in one other person who could do hair and makeup and one that just did hair the whole time. The girls were at the salon early and all set up waiting for us. Kristen set up a beautiful table outside her salon with candles and a tablecloth with chairs so that we could set up some breakfast food and mimosas and the girls could hangout while services were being done.
Kristen is super calm and happy, perfect to keep stress levels down morning of the wedding. The salon had iPod speakers which Kristen encouraged us to connect to. The morning was great and Kristen was sure to have us out by our 11am deadline.
Overall it was a great experience and we all looked fantastic!

Kristin, was amazing from the beginning I have meet her for the make-​up trial till the day of the wedding. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to do my make-​up for my special day. Kristin, is very passionate about her job, she listened and took in consideration the look I was going for on my wedding day. I never say this about myself, but Kristin had made me look like an amazing bride, and for that I am very grateful for everything she has done for me. Not only did she do my make-​up but also my sister, my mother, and aunt who all looked beautiful. I would highly recommend her to everyone and anyone. Not only would she make you look great on your special day but you also would gain a great make-​up artist who you would go back to for any other special occasion. Kristen is a total gem! I went here for my makeup for the Marine Corps Ball. She is a true artist, made me feel beautiful, and is hilarious on top of it! Her and the girls working there are so friendly and talented. The décor and atmosphere is incredible as well! …plus she gave me a delish glass of red wine, hard not to love her :) thanks so much Kristen!

Kristen Hefti is amazing.
She was sought out for Fashion Week San Diego 2012 to do make-​up for our team and friends. She was booked to do make-​up for 3 people and ended up doing 12 faces. The entire time she was enthusiastic, flexible, and all the make-​up was flawless. We all photographed beautifully. Kristen is extremely friendly and professional, and possesses all of the skills and qualities of a master make-​up artist. We highly recommend her recently opened make-​up studio for your beauty needs. She is now our go-​to gal for beauty and make-​up in San Diego. We can’t wait to work with her again!!!
