Ross H Dixon, DDS

I am grateful for having found Dr. Ross. My son goes next door to see Dr. Eric Dixon and so it was quite fortunate to find out that his brother works with adults and their offices are right next to each other. Dr. Ross is straight up honest and will tell you things as they are. I appreciate this because he’s not trying to «sell» you something that you don’t need. Dr. Ross is an excellent dentist and I the best one I’ve ever seen — I’ve seen many.
The office is very clean, quite contemporary and comfortable. There is no sterile feel to this dentistry office. This makes things a bit easier when you’re having a tooth drilled into. The entire staff is always professional, friendly and quite helpful.
I live in the College area and it’s worth the drive up the 805 during traffic to see Dr. Ross.

As we all know, going to the dentist is not something we look forward to. With that said, Dr Ross and his staff make it a great experience. He is so efficient, knowledgable and always on time. My mouth is happy and healthy thanks to him! And my smile has never looked better…

Dr. Ross is absolutely amazing! I have the best dentist ever! He is so nice and pleasant and by the way he does the most beautiful work. His office staff are so sweet. Especially his assistant Sharon. To top it off… The office décor is beautiful and calming. I can’t imagine going anywhere else!

Excellent. Office is comfortable, clean and modern. Flat screens with headphones help you pass the time. The dental hygienist was thorough but also took great care in my comfort. Dr. Dixon took time to inspect each tooth via Xray and then conducted a non invasive inspection of my teeth. He did a great job of explaining what he was seeing (in plain English) as he identified old fillings and a few areas of slight concern. He also had an assistant taking notes to make sure nothing was missed. Very professional.
Pros:
1. I appreciate the early hours on Wednesdays and Fridays. For those living and working in the Mira Mesa /​Sorrento Valley area, this is a great location.
2. They have forms online for first time patients which is great for those who want to skip the standard waiting room process.
3. Right next door is a very impressive pediatric dental office for your kiddos. (family owned).
4. I had to change my appointment a couple of times, and they were very helpful with this.
All in all, this was the best dentist I have had in my entire adult life.

Dr. Ross Dixon runs an amazing dental office. His staff is courtesy and professional. Always giving details on what they are doing and why from routine cleanings to fillings. Just had my initial fitting for Invisalign and wouldn’t do this process with anyone else. Best dentist in San Diego.

Dr. Dixon was very thorough and explained all of my options in a clear way, unlike other dentists I’ve experienced. His calm nature made the whole process much less stressful as I had anxiety associated with my visit. I would highly recommend him if you are needing a very good dentist you can trust. I checked his reviews before coming here and the high marks were well earned.

In my past, I have been known to be somewhat critical of medical professionals. When I turned 16 my parents let me drive and choose my own doctors. I did a bunch of research online and decided to give Dr. Ross a try. I went into his office and HELLO it was amazing. His office can squeeze me in with my crazy student schedule and they are fast, pleasant, and have a variety of free products so I never have to buy toothpaste!
Dr. Ross is kind and considerate. He will help you with what you need and not make you get things you don’t. I would recommend him to anyone even though more patients means less time for me.
He has TVs in his rooms so when you lay down you can choose what you want (plus for teenagers or people who enjoy television).
I just want to say that besides Dr. Ross basically being a cool dude, his staff is fantastic. They are so nice, like so nice that you want to bring them baked goods, but can you bring sugary things to a dentist? Eh?
Also side note, Dr. Ross is obsessed with apple products so if you enjoy them, you guys can talk about them all day.
I am sad that I am moving so I won’t get to see Dr. Ross, but I know that he will still give me free toothpaste so I feel okay about it.

I was recommended to Dr Dixon by a friend after a horrible experience with another dental group. Dr Dixon fixed what the other dental group did and did a wonderful job on my teeth. I feel comfortable in his care. Tonight I had an issue with my gum/​tooth and left a message with the after hours line. Dr Dixon personally called me about an hour later. Can’t say enough great things about Dr Dixon and his friendly staff.

One’s smile says it all. So, you’d better take care of it right.
Dr. Dixon has been taking care of my teeth for at least 12 years. Once I made a mistake of going elsewhere, and wound up very disappointed. Since then, I have never left Dr. Dixon’s practice.
What you can count on:
A kind, professional, expertly detailed and skilled Dentist who you will be happy to get to know.
He’s the type of Dentist, who, after a particularly intensive procedure, will personally call you to follow up and see how you are doing. He takes the time to explain what he sees, suggests, and listens to be sure his patients are informed and comfortable. Let’s face it, not everyone loves going to the dentist, but going to Dr. Dixon’s office is a good experience!
His office is especially inviting, modern, and very clean. When you are in the chair for your cleaning or exam, you get to lay back, have headphones on (if you like) and watch cable TV! Or, you can talk (nod along) with your friendly hygienist, who has you in good hands before you follow up with Dr. Dixon.
If that’s not enough, the office staff is great! They smile, are welcoming, follow up, set up text or voice mail reminders for my appointment confirmation, and generally help to make the appointment run smoothly and on time.
All in all, I highly recommend this office. It’s conveniently located right by the freeways and the best part is that Dr. Ross is a 5 star dentist.

In short: Dr. Dixon and his staff know what they are doing and do a good job, they are nice and understanding, the office is clean and the equipment and dental techniques he employs are modern. Very good dentist for checkups as well as crowns and other dental work.
I have been a patient of Dr. Ross Dixon (and previously his father, Dr. Howard Dixon, for pediatric dentistry) for a couple years now, and I have been very satisfied with the dental care I have received. After a nasty bike accident, I had to have seven or so teeth fixed. Dr. Ross repaired them using composite material and they’re close to good as new – about as good they could be given the circumstances. This happened over three separate appointments, each an hour or two long.
Another two teeth were split down the middle due to the accident, and had to be completely removed. Dr. Dixon referred me to Dr. Bruce Johnson, a periodontist in Rancho Bernardo/​Poway, for the implant work (Dr. Johnson’s prices are high, but he’s probably the best in town at what he does).
After the implants were in, I was back to Dr. Dixon to get crowns put on the implants. Because of all the time and money put into this work, I wanted the implants to be as good as they possibly could be. Dr. Dixon was understanding, and when I was dissatisfied with the first crowns – the color was a bit off – he asked Jason (I only know him by his first name), the man that makes his crowns, to come in and color them in person. This resulted in excellent crowns that blend in with the rest of my teeth. None of my friends can tell the difference.
The implants and crowns were both done with state of the art dental technique, as everything is done in this office. The crowns are retrievable, meaning if they need to be repaired or replaced this can be done without impacting the rest of the implant. Dr. Dixon employs modern digital Xray machines; the Xray is taken and immediately shows up on the computer screen for viewing.
Dr. Dixon is understanding of my dislike for shots, and is always careful and gentle in my mouth. I have also been consistently satisfied with his staff. The hygienists know what they are doing and do their jobs well, as does the receptionist. There are two TVs (two!) in each room so that the patient can watch either sitting or lying down. The office is clean and organized. I usually do not have to wait to be seen by a hygienist for my checkups. In fact, I am usually seen early if I arrive early. Sometimes Dr. Dixon himself seems to be running a bit late, but hey, there’s only one of him.
Overall, very happy with Dr. Dixon, his staff, Jason, and Dr. Johnson. I am disappointed that they no longer take my insurance, Delta Dental, but I will most likely continue coming here for the excellent care, at least in the forseeable future.

I am very picky when it comes to medical professionals, especially when it comes to dentists. Dr. Ross is honestly my favorite medical professional. He is kind, considerate, patient, and he makes good conversation. His staff remembers stuff about me even though I only go there three times a year. His office has ample parking and his office is always clean and welcoming. He makes a habit of getting to know you and not rushing his services. He doesn’t do things for money, he will work so that you don’t have to pay an excessive amount. He spent about two hours doing my bonding when the other dentist spent a half an hour. His staff is fantastic about getting appointments in quickly.
I really have enjoyed my visits with Doctor Ross. I would recommend him for kids and adults. Luckily, his dad is the dentist next door for pediatrics. Doctor Ross is the best dentist and I will truly miss him when I leave San Diego.
The only thing bad about him, is that he’s a Padres fan. I will overlook that one flaw for all of his other awesome qualities. YOU ROCK DOCTOR ROSS!

I have always been wary of dentists and I found a great one with Dr Dixon. He is calm and takes the time to explain what needs to be done. HIs hygenists there are great as well. In fact the whole office is great.
I recommend him to friends and family all the time. I feel that I dont ever have to search for another dentist ever again.

Dr. Dixon deserves a solid 5 stars. When choosing a dentist, I look for a clean office, great staff and a doctor that can give me great professional advice. I experienced all of the above!

— Location: Sorrento Valley, central in San Diego and conveniently located!
— Office: clean warm feeling from the minute you walk in. Very comforting!
— Chair: very comfortable with televisions in line of sight whether sitting up or laying down, with headphones of course.
— Dental Hygienist: will say she was the most efficient I have ever had.
— Dr Dixon: A true professional at his work. More importantly he took the time to get to know me, understand my habits and give his best analysis with great advice…
This is a tight knit, professional team and felt extra welcomed at the office. I went in for a simple cleaning (and will continue to do so) however Dr. Dixon also specializes in cosmetic dentistry as well! You can probably guess where I’m going, should I require anything more than a cleaning!!!

I was a patient at Dr. Ross Dixon’s practice for six years and I was extremely pleased with the very professional and kind service I received there. The offices are modern and up to date without being flashy, but most importantly, the friendly staff is what I will miss the most now that I no longer live in San Diego. Every visit I ever had at this office was efficient and painless — you heard me right, painless visits to the dentist!
In terms of Dr. Dixon’s approach to dental care, he is very conservative and careful in considering treatments and procedures. I’ve heard horror stories of friends and co-​workers who have gone to less scrupulous dentists and been pressured into undergoing completely unnecessary procedures. In contrast, Dr. Dixon will not recommend anything unless he is absolutely sure it is necessary, as he genuinely cares for the wellbeing of his patients. Additionally, I had problems with fillings a couple times (not his fault, as the location of the fillings makes them difficult to maintain), and he replaced them free of charge. Overall, I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Ross and his staff are incredibly friendly and professional. The offices are immaculate, which has always been a must for me for seeing a dentist/​doctor. The few times I have had to have more than just a cleaning, the procedures went smoothly and I was very pleased with the results… Plus, I love being able to watch the in ceiling TV while they are working on my teeth. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a local dentist.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Ross Dixon for 10 years and we are so pleased with their professional and yet very personal service. Our children go to the Pediatric Dentist next door (where the rest of the Dixon family practices) and we love it! We also have used the Orthodontist connected with the pediatric dentist office for both of our children and couldn’t be more satisfied.
We do not live close to Dr. Dixon’s office but it is certainly worth the drive! We highly recommend this dental office.

I have been going to Dr, Ross for over 5 years now and it’s always a great experience. About 2 years ago I moved to Vegas and thought I would try a local dentist, worst move ever. It’s hard to beat the level of service and expertise Dr. Ross brings to the table. I have learned my lesson and will not be going anywhere else. I need to plan ahead since I am coming from Vegas but it’s well worth it.
The offices are inviting and everyone on the staff is super friendly. Dr. Ross is great at communicating what is going on in my mouth and works with my schedule when putting a plan together … I am kinda a picky client, I tend to ask a lot of questions but Dr. Ross is able to answer my concerns and always gives me the best solution.
Dr. Ross is awesome. Typical visit involves very little discomfort (pain), excellent and prompt attention from all the staff and when I leave i feel confident and informed about what’s going on with my smile (I like this part the best).

This is my second visit to Dr. Ross Dixon’s office. I have received two routine cleanings. Dr. Dixon also replaced 3 fillings that were improperly placed by my former dentist.
Both visits were a great experience. Sofia (front desk) is warm and friendly. Elise, hygienist, has cleaned my teeth twice and is very gentle and thorough. And Dr. Dixon is very skilled and makes sure you are comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Dixon and his office!

When my last Dentist retired about 5 years ago I wasn’t looking forward to seeking out someone new. I was referred to Dr. Dixon by a friend of mine and after the first visit I felt great about my new Dentist.
The office is very comfortable, with warm relaxing tones, makes you feel at ease in a time when you may be going through something uncomfortable. TV’s on the ceiling so if you do need to wait a few minutes you can catch up on Sport Center… After my second visit I convinced my wife to switch to Dr. Dixon too and we couldn’t be happier!

I hadn’t been to the dentist since I stopped having dental insurance in college. I was a little worried about how much work I might need to have done, and the obligatory pain (physical and monetary) that might come with that.
Dr. Dixon was amazing. He told me that I would need to get a fairly extensive amount of work done, but that he promised it wouldn’t be too painful, and that his receptionist would happily work out payments with me.
He works fast, has a great personality, his offices are clean and comfortable, and he seems genuinely happy to help his patients (read: not bitter or jaded like my last dentist).
If you’re looking for a dentist and you’re anywhere near Mira Mesa, I highly recommend Dr. Dixon.
