Not the best place to be. But luckily I had received the best of service. Outstanding Respiratory nurse very nice and easy going with my 3 year old daughter. Seen a doctor as soon as I walked into to a room, everything was went perfect because there was no wait for anything since it was Black Friday. Everyone we had an encounter with was amazing, great to have people like the nurses at Rady’s that we can count on. Hopefully we won’t have to come back here :)…Couldn’t had a better time at an ER

We had to come here when my son fell off of his skate board and broke his arm. The doctors had to sedate him to straighten the bones in his arm then casted him. The nurses were wonderful and gave him IV pain medication right away. We feel blessed to have a great ER that specializes in treating kids.

Unfortunately we found ourselves in this ER with our daughter when we were on vacation. She had a respiratory infection which ended up making it very difficult for her to breath. We brought her in at 6:30am on a Saturday morning. The triage/​registration people were helpful, friendly, and swift. We were back in an exam room immediately which was nice. We saw a couple of different nurses, a respiratory therapist, & the doctor, Dr. Bema Bonsu. All were knowledgeable, had great bedside manners, & made us feel as comfortable as possible. On two different occasions they asked us if we needed or wanted anything. One of the times it was the doctor asking which really impressed me. It turned out that our daughter is asthmatic and might have had a touch of pneumonia on top of it. They did a breathing treatment, took an x-​ray & had us out the door with prescription in hand in only 3 hours. That is impressive for an ER! Anyway, I would highly recommend this emergency room to anyone who needs its services. I really hope you don’t though!

No one likes to have to take their kids to the ER, no matter how simple or complex the problem may be. In the day and age where you have to wait for eons at Urgent Care, it was not the case here.
The facilities are nice, conducive to the needs of kids and genuinely shows effort on making a hospital look and feel less scary for your little ones.
The staff here was awesome with our baby, they saw her very quickly and they were incredibly helpful. as much as 2 frazzled, worried parents needed them to be. I was so happy with the way our case was handled and as much as I prefer to not have to go to the ER at all, I know if we ever need to, we can take our baby to a place as cool and nice as this.

This is starting to become a trend for us. Everytime we head out of town, we end up in an ER with a sick little one. Ugh! Our poor little one was not feeling well on Monday night and was not repsonding to much at home treatment, so we headed over to the Emergency Care Center at Rady Children’s Hospital. This place was super busy on a Monday night! With all the patients filling up that waiting area, the registration desk and triage nurse were extremely professional, helpful and kind. They got us through the process quickly and within minutes we were called back by a care nurse.
Our son has some special medical needs and the care, concern and compassion the nurse showed us great. She quickly evaluated our little one, got him set up on some monitors and we were seen by a doctor farily quickly. The doctor was also showed amazing care, concern and compassion for our son and treated him quickly and monitored him for awhile.
Our son’s doctor at home had called in a prescription for him and we had a difficult time obtaining it. The doctor on duty at Rady’s called the pharmacy which had the called in prescription (see our Poway Costco story) got what it was and gave our son the medication he needed. She monitored him for a bit longer as he returned to his normal self and got us on our way home for a good nights rest.
Since we were from out of town and staying in a hotel, the ER doctor offered to admit our son if we would be more comfortable with his care in the hospital as opposed to in a small hotel room. It was so kind that she was as much concerned for our son’s health as she was for our obvious lack of sleep and concern for our son. If you are in need of good medical care for your little one while visiting San Diego, you can be assured you will get kind, compassionate and great medical care here at Rady’s.
