History

Established in 1978.

The Old Aztec Rugby Football Club was founded in 1978 by San Diego State University alumni with the intent of supporting the student rugby program. Through the years the Old Aztec Rugby Club has become an international men’s club by incorporating players from throughout the United States to go along with its contingent of international players.

The Old Aztecs were recipients of two consecutive Southern California Second Division Championships in 1989 and 1990, and then moved into the first division. The Aztecs returned to the second division in 1993 and reached the Pacific Coast Semifinals that year. In 2010 the Old Aztecs returned to glory by going undefeated and winning the Second Division Championship once again.
