Jim was really a pleasure to work with and very understanding. We had a smaller project, but he treated us like a big customer. In the end we got everything we asked for and at a lower price than we expected, which never happens! Thanks Jim!

Jim Battaglia and San Diego Scape have been there for me for all my landscape needs for 3 years and 2 major projects. Jim is helpful at all stages– from layout planning, irrigation and plant selection, to execution, and change management– and even ongoing maintenance.
His style with clients is honest, upfront, and relaxed, while his work style is detail oriented and hard-​charging. Jim and his crew can design and build beautiful, water wise San Diego landscapes out of nothing (in my case!) in an amazingly short time.
I have, and will continue, to recommend San Diego Scape to all my friends. Many have used his services, and agree with me!

I’m a backyard person and always wanted a beautiful backyard. I spent weeks creating a design that I like on paper. I found this place online, they came over and we went over my design. They gave me so many really good suggestions that I got even more excited! We made a plan and they got started on the job. It took a couple of weeks but I’m extremely happy with the results.

Two years ago, we bought a major fixer in Point Loma. We’ve put a lot of time and money into this house. The yard was the final project that needed to be completed.
A few months ago, we had a large landscape company do a TERRIBLE job on our yard. The quality of work was poor and they over charged us for plants. This well known larger company improperly installed a sprinkler system which caused many of the plants to die.
After extreme disappointment, we interviewed 5 new landscape companies to fix the mess this larger/​well known landscaping company left us with. SD Scape and Maintenance was one of the new landscaping companies we interviewed. We called them on a Wednesday and Jim Battaglia, the owner of SDSM, returned our call the next day (the 4 other companies took several days to return our call). Jim came to our house on Friday to look at the yard. We were so impressed with his suggestions and cost effective methods for fixing the awful yard done by the previous landscape company. The next morning (Saturday), Jim was at our house with a computerized design of what he envisioned for our yard (based on what we told him we wanted). Other companies we interviewed either charged us for the computerized design or outsourced this service to another company (which we’d have to pay for). Additionally, all the other landscaping companies use a 3^rd party designer which is the route we went with the first yard project. Jim is a one-​stop-​shop and does it all!
Jim listened to us and came up with a design that we loved and would work for our yard (our yard is a funky shape).
Here’s what we love about Jim Battaglia and SD Scape and Maintenance:
— Jim is honest and looked for the best quality plants at the cheapest prices. He spent hours at numerous nurseries looking for the best plants and the best prices.
— Jim had plants from another job and sold them to us at a reasonable cost and gave the proceeds to the owner of the plants. Jim didn’t make any $ from this transaction and just wanted to help both clients.
— Jim provided us an invoice that line itemized all costs. The previous company that screwed up our yard charged us for things they never did, overcharging us about $ 1600.
— Jim and his crew were always on time and worked hard.
— SD Scape and Maintenance does excellent quality work and they are grateful for the job
— They are easy to work with
— Change orders were no problem
— Jim offered many suggestions and options to make our yard look better than we thought it could.
— Worked well within our budget.
— Jim has come back to check on our yard to make sure all sprinklers are working and all plants are in good condition.
It has only been 2 weeks since SD Scape and Maintenance finished our yard and we have already referred them to 2 people. Both of these referrals will be using SDSM and called to tell us how impressed they were with Jim.
I wish I could give SD Scape and Maintenance 10 stars!!! I HIGHLY recommend them.

We love our backyard! Jim and his crew were awesome. After realizing the DIY route was out of the question, we called Jim (thank goodness). We had a vision of what we wanted and it’s truly better than we had hoped. From the landscaping to the custom built in grill, we have an amazing outdoor living space. I highly, highly recommend Jim and his crew. We’ve now hired them for our maintenance as well and look forward to the next project — front yard.

You will love this company! Jim (the owner) found our place and showed up on time. We had some ideas of what we wanted to do and Jim added some that we hadn’t thought of that have worked out great! They start work early and work Monday — Friday. They got all the work done a half week early! A highly recommended, professional company!
