Great place that offers professional development certificate programs at a good price! You have the option to take any type of program you want ranging from accounting, contract/​project management, human resource management, or even craft beer. There are also several healthcare programs like EKG Tech and Pharmacy Tech. Keep in mind that these courses only prep you for required exams or are refreshers of you are already in the industry. When you finish all the required courses in a program, you are awarded with a certificate of completion. In my opinion it’s worth getting a certificate from a known school like SDSU. I just finished my accounting certificate; I’m so glad that I was able to take their accounting program online as I work full-​time during the day. Now I have something to put on my resume and move up the pay ladder. :)
Most of the programs are non-​credit and are non-​transferable to 4 year degrees. They have an Open University Program where you crash credit courses in the first day. Those courses are much more expensive but still cheaper than going to school as a full time or half time student. Never tried the program, though, but it’s a good option for anyone who wants to knock some units off and or transfer to a 4 year/​2 year university.
I will say that all the courses aren’t cheap and you have to pay out of pocket for the most part. They’re still cheaper than some other places that’s for sure. Overall I recommend checking them out.

It would seem that doing business with a big name (i.e. brand name) would be a guarantee that services promised would translate into services provided. We always hope that academic institutions be about integrity and not money. It turns out that you would be wrong if you were taking Health Certificate programs at San Diego State University College of Extended Studies (also known as CES).
I have heard of small «Mickey Mouse» colleges failing to deliver, but you would think that if a reputable institution couldn’t meet class size and had promised to «work something out,» they would do it, right? No. Those smaller for-​profit schools just disappear leaving students standard having spent time and money. CES doesn’t do that. They just promise they will help and «do the right thing,» but it doesn’t happen.
Eventually, they just stop responding to requests and e-​mails. Save your money! Take the longer courses for credit. On the other hand, that can be a hassle too. Education/​Higher Education has become a scam. They want your money, but you might not get anything in return. Even if you were to get the promised education, no jobs or careers are guaranteed.
I don’t know why others reviews are so positive.

I’m about to finish my 5h and 6^th classes taken through Extended Studies now. Hopefully will finish the certificate program I’m taking in spring of next year!
I was an undergrad at SDSU before so I was a little shocked at first to see how updated the extended studies classrooms were compared to the rest of the school. The chairs are a lot more comfy. There are electronic signs outside of each classroom to show what class is going on at that time (in addition to the electronic sign up front).
Classes run from 6−9PM (at least all of mine have been that way). The instructors are all knowledgeable and friendly. The class sizes are pretty small so you get to know everyone and are able to split into groups for group projects (if there are any).
You get a parking permit to park in the parking structure right next to the building which is nice. You can also find street parking on either street as well. Sometimes there might be concerts/​events going on, so it gets a little congested around that area.
There is a small coffee cart in the patio area that closes around 7/7:30PM.

Great kids summer reading program! This program is great for those starting kindergarten. My little girl turned 4 the day the program started so they allowed her to join. The program has not only been great for my child but also for us the parents. There are books that are read in class and stories are acted out. Kids can’t be dropped off and left in class. There is only 1 teacher and Parent participation is necessary!!!

Taking an EHR cert class, and am very pleased! Enrolling was easy and classrooms in the extended studies building are big and clean and well-​equipped. there’s tons of parking and close-​by. oh and my teacher is awesome! He really knows how to explain the topics in a way that is easy to grasp… and the class size is small. always a good thing.
It’s too bad the class is almost done…

Digging my first course here! Got my undergrad at SDSU and now topping off my skill set by pursuing a professional certificate through CES.
The CES office has been very helpful in responding to my questions and getting me the materials/​info I need ahead of starting the course.
Building/​classrooms are really nice, clean, and feel up to date. Parking structure is conveniently located right off the building, which makes me feel safer walking to my car at night after class.
