SCORE – Business Consulting

I was matched with a one-​on-​one mentor, Greg LaVae, to give me ideas for growing my business. I came to the meeting with some skepticism, unsure exactly how I would walk out the door feeling differently. Greg really helped me put everything into perspective, and gave me some scenarios to think about. He is extremely knowledgeable and insightful, and has a handle on various aspects related to managing and growing your business. And he’s very down to earth. I have a sense that other consultants in the office are at the same level. Lots of other great resources that I’ll explore in the future.

The SCORE women’s breakfasts are just great! The speaker is usually inspiring and there’s a lot of networking. You get one on one interaction with about 24 women. Definitely a worthwhile event!

My husband and I want to start a new business and we had no idea how to begin properly. I went to the seminar «Business Plan 2 How to Write Winning Buisness and Financial Plans.» It was the best money I could have spent and I know the knowledge I gained will save us thousands in the future from missteps we can now avoid. I would recommend this company to everyone looking to start a business. I can’t wait attend future workshops and seminars. The speakers/​instructors were amazing (this coming from a college Public Speaking instructor).

I’ve been thinking about attending a SCORE workshop for years and finally put my money where my mouth is!
The «How to Start and Manage Your Own Business» workshop was phenomenal. Not only are you getting access to great information at a ridiculously low cost (gotta love non-​profits), but the instructors and speakers are all accomplished experts in their fields. I would much rather learn from people with experience vs. people with only fancy education. (When those student loan bills are due each month, I often regret my decision to go to college.)
The San Diego chapter is one of the top in the nation. We’re lucky to live in the most amazing city in the world that attracts amazing entrepreneurs who donate time to people seeking knowledge in this realm. Just one more reason I love San Diego.
I can’t wait to take as many classes as possible to learn how to properly start my NPO this year!

I recently started a couple of small businesses and didn’t have a clue about what to do to take my business from idea to cash positive. A friends suggested I go to a SCORE class and signed up for their Business 101 — Competitive Advantage workshop. They held the class at Point Loma Nazarene College in Mission Valley in one of their large training rooms. The class itself help me define my business where I used to think that price mattered more than anything, but they convinced me that quality is number one.
