I love Dr Mubarak amd trust him 100% with my daughters care for hip dysplasia. He did lots up follow up appointments to makw sure everything was perfect. We just got the all clear from him today and won’t have to see him for a year! I drive all the was from Riverside County to see him. Plus his office staff is great and my daughters love going!

I was very surprised when I read Dr. Mubarak’s Unilocal Rating. I find it odd that people would turn to Unilocal for rating doctors in the first place.
1 star for a scheduling complaint? The Orthopedic surgeon has nothing to with scheduling an appointment.
Please take the previous bad Unilocal ratings with a grain of salt. Rady Children’s Hospital Orthopedics is one of the leading orthopedic hospitals in the world and Dr. Mubarak is one of the reasons for this high rating.
Dr. Mubarak has treated my kids for years. He’s an amazing surgeon and an even better person. I would highly recommend him for your children

My son has cerebral palsy. Dr. Mubarak was his orthopedic. After much research, I chose to have my son undergo an elective neuro-​surgery out of state. We needed some serial casting done right after the surgery. Rady’s would not take an out of state prescription for the casting so we set up an appointment with Dr. Mubarak to have him issue the prescription for the serial casting. At the appointment, without solicitation, he told me he would never had recommended this surgery for my son. I think it is appalling that a doctor would criticize a parent’s choice for their child. Especially after the surgery is complete and when the surgery is not even in his field. And, of course, he refused to issue the presciption for the serial cast. I would give 0 starts if I could.

I haven’t used Dr. Mubarak yet. I was referred to him yesterday by a podiatrist for my 7 year old. I called the number given to me at 11:35 am and had to go through about 4 – 5 long winded prompts to get to the appointment department. Once there I got a message that they were out from 11:30 — 12:45. I called back at 1:30 as I got on the 5 north and was on hold for 24 minutes. There’s no hold music but every 5 minutes a message comes on to thank you for holding through the silence. My call ended after 24 minutes when I drove through a bad cell coverage area. :-(I called right back and held for another 15 minutes until I had arrived at my destination in El Toro! I will have to try again today but I’m very disappointed b/​c if this type of customer service is any reflection on the doctor’s availability and ability to help with my daughter then I’m not going to see him, even if it means traveling out of the county to find a doctor who gives a better first impression.

I hate to give anyone this low of a review but this guy unfortunately warrants it. Actually LOWER…
I don’t know if it’s because I was 16 and some doctors don’t respect your opinion at that age or what… (Sorry, this story might be a little long but it’s worth reading)
I have had pain/​disconfort in my left knee since I was 14 or 15 years old. I finally got to go see a specialist after begging my primary care pediatrician to refer me. Dr. Mubarak seemed like a very nice guy but also seemed like he didn’t really have much time for me. He told me on my first visit that I had flexibility problems and just needed to complete some stretches and had me get a stretch book to do them at home. I knew something wasn’t right. Stretching didn’t help and actually caused me more discomfort.
On my next visit I told him the stretches weren’t working and I still hurt. My leg would give out sometimes. He told me there wasn’t anything wrong with me and denied me when I asked if I could get X rays…
Shortly after that I was admitted to the ER as a walk in trauma for a horseback riding incident in which I broke some ribs and my tibia. I also saw Dr. Mubarak for that… It really pissed me off when he gave me two options for treatment (either pin it or let it heal with a cast) and not give me his professional opinion on it. He said «either one» and I said «no, give me your educated opinion» and he said for me to pick one. I was really mad. Doctors can usually tell you what they would recommend for you… That’s why the go to school and you seek their medical advice. But anyway, I had it casted and let it heal for a few months.
When I returned I was still having knee pain (even with my leg immobile) and had a brilliant idea. I claimed that I thought I had injured my knee in the fall and thankfully Dr. Mubarak brought another Dr. in to see me. The doctor (I don’t remember his name) simply walked over to me and felt my distal femur with his hands. «You have a big lump on your bone» he said.
An X-​ray, MRI, biopsy, and two weeks later I found out that I had periosteal sarcoma a rare type of bone cancer. If Dr. Mubarak had even felt my leg or taken X-​rays as I had requested I would have known that 6 months prior. PLUS if I hadn’t fallen off that horse or that other doctor been there I wouldn’t have even known I had the bone cancer. I was lucky I didn’t lose my leg/​life.
I also wonder if I had found out sooner if I would have had less extensive surgeries (4 so far) on my leg and not have to live with the pain and problems I do everyday (6 years later)…
Of course I could have sued for malpractice (which my grandma recommended) but I was young and dumb and said no because «everybody makes mistakes». What a dumb ass. I could be sitting on a couple million right now and have money to have health insurance and get my leg fixed. They should have informed me what malpractice insurance was all about…
Don’t bring your kid to this guy… He probably doesn’t have the time to devote to a patient, just there to see as many people as he can in order to make that big check…
