Julie S.

Business Owner

Founder, Julie Simpson, graduated with a B.A. in Applied Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Jewelry and Metals. Followed by an apprenticeship with two master jewelers that are now part of the Scout Mandolin team, she started a fashion jewelry company with her pieces selling in hundreds of locations around the world. A decade later, she sold her fashion jewelry company, following her passion for creating one of-​a-​kind custom engagement rings and fine jewelry. Scout Mandolin is this next chapter.

Julie’s vision of transforming the way custom engagement rings and jewelry are created has come to life in Scout Mandolin where her bespoke design process captures the art of love. We take the guess-​work out of the process by giving he or she a platform to say what they want, while preserving the element of surprise.

Scout Mandolin is AMAZING! Designer/​Owner Julie took my jumbled mess of a Pinterest page, filled with ring ideas ranging from Art Deco to funky/​ethereal, and made truly the perfect ring! In addition, she was able to incorporate elements of my mother’s ring into a masterpiece. I love, love, love the ring!
As a result of our experience with Scout Mandolin, my fiancé and I are once again turning to the Scout Mandolin team for our wedding rings. I’m excited to work with them again because I know they will create great pieces that symbolize our love, will last a lifetime, and are priced more than fairly.
Bottom line: I can’t gush enough!

Engagement ring shopping is amazingly frustrating and more difficult than it seems. Most men including me know nothing very little about precious metals and diamonds. Couple the fact that there is some unseen matrix that dictates why one similar ring cost only a few grand versus the other a down payment to a home only intensifies the situation.
After visiting a lot of stores from the mall shops, dedicated ring stores, to fringe Asian ones, I was recommended to check out Jeweliany.
Jeweliany differs from every store I’ve been to in the sense that Julie owns her own small shop and when you walk in there are no rings to be found. Instead, she chats with you and finds out what you are looking for and begins sketching up designs.
Deciding that if I’m going to drop the same amount of money I spent on my car when I purchased it, I figured, «I want a design that NO ONE in this world has». So I began to describe a ring that I liked. It involved wild gesticulations and random words such as «curly wrappy ring thing», «low in setting because she’s a dentist (what does that even mean?)», «Don’t make the prongs to evident or prongy», and best «Not to BLINGY, but… bling?»
When I saw the ring, I was blown away. It was really gorgeous. Plus it turned out exactly like I described (No clue how she did that). More importantly, the fiancé absolutely adores the ring.
That would be good enough for a 4 star since we are such happy campers.
However, Julie goes above and beyond.
— Met me at my office to show me diamonds
— Allowed me to purchase in parts and not all at once
— Dropped off the ring after it was done
— Put my diamond in a plain band so I could show the parents when the original band wasn’t ready yet
— Met my schedule 100%
Getting engaged and married is a once in a lifetime thing. I’m extremely blessed to have found Julie and use her services.

I worked with Julie to design a custom engagement ring for my fiancée. I live and work in the OC and Julie made the trek to me to show me diamonds. She went out of her way to provide excellent customer service. When I found the perfect diamond, she was able to turn it around in six days. On top of that, she personally delivered the ring to me in the OC so that I could propose that night!
Julie was awesome to work with and she made the process so easy. I referred her to one of my close friends and he got an engagement ring from her as well. I’m also working with her to get my wedding bands, so my fiancée and I are excited about that. Definitely give Julie a call and she’ll do an excellent job for you!

I had a vision for the earrings that I wanted for my wedding day, but I couldn’t find anything in a store that was just right. I searched on Unilocal and called countless jewelers who all quoted me long time frames and crazy prices to make the simple earrings I was looking for. Finally I found Jeweliany and after speaking with Julie on the phone, I went into her shop. She listened to what I was looking for and then brought out all of the components to show me the options and let me pick out each piece. She made my earrings in just a few days and when I came to pick them up and felt that I had chosen a length that was a bit too long, she quickly offered to shorten the chain for me. She was so sweet to work with and really wanted me to have exactly what I wanted. It is so special to have a personal, handmade pair of earrings for your wedding day and I am so thankful for Julie! Love the jewelry. Saw my girlfriend with a beautiful necklace, couldn’t stop thinking about it. The next visit to San Diego, made it appoint to buy the same necklace. (I am the proud owner of the necklace and wear it every day !!! I get so many compliments.)
On the same day, worked it out with the owner, Julie Simpson, for her to make my and my fiancé’s wedding rings. The customer service was outstanding. The rings came out beautiful and just what we wanted.

In an effort to get an amazing Christmas present for my girlfriend I went to Jeweliany for some much needed assistance. The owner, Julie, was such an amazing help in pulling out of me what my girlfriend would want and together we were able to design the perfect necklace within my budget. I couldn’t have been happier with the final product and more importantly my girlfriend was thrilled and wears the necklace every day.

I absolutely love the Jeweliany line. The owner Julie Simpson, is a great person and I always enjoy stopping by her studio.
Her jewelry is all handcrafted and all of the pieces make great gifts. I’ve given necklaces to all of the women I know. And her men’s jewelry is cool but not too flashy. I can wear it everywhere.
