We couldn’t be more pleased with Scripps Ranch Security. Joe came over and explained everything to us, answered all our questions, and set up an alarm system that was exactly what we had wanted. The couple of times that we set off the alarm by mistake we were immediately called by the service, which made us feel very comfortable with how quickly they responded. The installation by Joe didn’t take long at all and he demonstrated how the entire system worked. We would definitely recommend Scripps Ranch Security to everyone.

I was told by multiple friends that a certain large security company would be at least $ 3,000 to start and to be prepared for high pressure sales tactics to increase my costs. No thanks.
After looking at reviews on Unilocal and speaking to two of my neighbors who have SR Security, I gave Joe a call. After walking around the entire house, he listened to my concerns and didn’t try to sell me something I don’t need. A week later I have a new security system that is very user-​friendly and didn’t break my budget. Joe even removed and hauled away the existing out-​of-​date system, including keypads, motion detectors and a ridiculously large hub that took up a good portion of my coat closet. The entire process took less than 4 hours and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve been doing a lot of repairs on my house and it’s incredibly rare to find someone as nice, polite and easy to work with as Joe. I was impressed enough that I immediately called my sister and told her to hire him to install her system asap!

Scripps Ranch Security was the 3^rd company we had out to talk to about a security system for our new house. We got really bad vibes from the first two, but Joe at SR Security could not have made us feel more comfortable. He was personable, listened to our needs/​wants, and recommended the system that checked all our boxes while also staying within budget. Very no pressure style… I was ready to sign that day, but Joe said to talk to my wife and just let him know. We scheduled our install shortly thereafter and Joe handled that personally with great care for our house. I would highly recommend contacting them for any security needs!

Holy moly am I pleased with my service! As others mentioned, the install was wonderful and the service has been great. I have had my system for around 5 months and over that time have had several questions on the system and requests for changes to how it is configured. I love being able to email Joe (instead of call some customer service center like with the national companies) with my concerns. He is prompt, researches if needed, and always gives me a very complete answer about what my options are. He has always been exceptionally helpful and polite. Could not be happier with my system and the support from Scripps Ranch!

Called this company based on reviews from other people to install cameras in my home. Spoke with Joe who was awesome! After discussing my current system he determined that he couldn’t tie his system in to my existing system. After telling me this he spent a significant amount of time going over pros and cons of what I wanted to do. What an honest and great guy… probably am not going to use because I can’t but highly recommend this company and Joe!

When we decided to get a home security system we met with Joe and also a competitor from one of the big companies. After meeting with both of them my wife and I agreed that we would go with Scripps Ranch. This decision was largely based on Joe and his personality. He is simply a good and honest guy and that goes a long way with me. We’ve had the system for a while now and have been very pleased.

Joe at Scripps Ranch Security was great. Extremely professional, prompt and courteous. He installed a security system in our office in Little Italy. It’s state-​of-​the-​art and very user friendly. When my 30-​year old system died, I shopped around for a replacement system. I found several small companies that could provide a new Honeywell system with monitoring for a fraction of the cost quoted by the alarm company I had been with for over a decade. I picked Scripps Ranch Security for the following reasons.
1. When you call, someone answers the phone (usually Joe Ryan, the owner).
2. The monitoring company they use has their center in Poway.
3. They are current on the latest technologies.
4. If you have a problem (which I did), they get it resolved quickly.
5. Scripps Ranch Security signs are popping up all over my neighborhood.
I highly recommend.

I’m very happy with my security system. I’ve had it for over two years. It works, it’s stable and I haven’t had any problems with it. I have set it off a few times and got a call from the monitoring station quickly. The cost is very reasonable and I like working with Joe Ryan.

When we moved into our new house, there was an existing system already installed. We had seen terrible reviews for other companies but great ones for Scripps Ranch Security. Joe was not only super helpful, but friendly and informative with great rates. We had him come out to re-​install after we got new windows and again, great rates, great service and great team!

We decided to have a home security system installed after hearing about a rash of break-​ins around our Park Village neighborhood. Who to choose? We turned to Unilocal for some help and found a few with good reviews, including Scripps Ranch Security. From there, it was a case of soliciting bids from the three best, all of which were local small businesses, (we deliberately avoided the big guys because of the poor reviews we saw on Unilocal). We also checked all three out on BBB.
Price-​wise, all three were in the same ballpark, but in the end, we selected Scripps Ranch Security because Joe, the sole owner, operates his business in the local area, and the monitoring company that he works with is also located locally (Poway).
The latter factor seemed important to us. Although, theoretically, all monitoring companies are just a phone call away, it seemed to us that other factors local to the monitoring companies could impact their capabilities. For example, the monitoring company associated with one of the other bidders is located in Oklahoma, and this was around the time when that area was suffering a rash of horrendous tornadoes and floods. Our rationale was that if monitoring company employees are preoccupied with imminent danger to their own families or property, it could possibly degrade the company’s ability to effectively perform its monitoring duties.
After selecting Scripps Ranch Security, Joe showed up on schedule and had the system installed within a few hours. Then he patiently walked us through it to make sure we understood how to use it. Since then, he has been in contact to make sure we are okay with using the system, and if we have any questions.
Having the system installed has certainly given us peace of mind both during the night, when we arm the system in «Armed — Stay» mode, and when we go out and put it in «Armed — Away» mode. There has been one false alarm so far, when I forgot to disarm the system one morning before opening a window. But that at least checked out the system and proved that the monitoring company was doing its job. Within a short time from the alarm going off, a representative phoned and politely asked for password to let him know that everything was okay.
We strongly recommend Scripps Ranch Security to anyone thinking about having a home security system installed.

We had a few security companies walk through our office for quotes on a new security system recently. Listening to job pitches from other companies was unpleasant to say the least. They came in like robots, regurgitating the same sales speech they probably have given for years. Joe Ryan from Scripps Ranch Security was the last company to walk through our office.
Joe offered a clear cut explanation of what we needed and what we could expect from his company in the future. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions without trying to up-​sell a bunch of useless (and expensive) extras.
When Joe was installing the system, he was quick and efficient. He took the time to explain what he was doing and to answer any questions we had. When it was time to go over how to work with the system, Joe was patient and never seemed in a rush to leave or frustrated by our questions.
Joe Ryan practices true customer service. When he noticed a glitch, he let us know right away and came over the same day to fix it (before we even had the chance to realize there was a «problem»). He also keeps in contact with us, making sure that everything is going well.
We highly recommend Joe Ryan if you’re in the market for security, especially if you don’t want to end up another little fish in a big national corporate pond. And a big bonus, the system is very easy to use and if you’re tech savvy, there’s even an app for your phone to engage the alarm with.

Joe installed our alarm system about a year ago.
Recently, we changed our phone system from Time Warner to At&t.
The installer did not reconnect the alarm.

For the past 20 years, I’ve had my home alarm monitoring provided by 2 of the bigger alarm companies (you know who they are… A. and P…_) but recently switched to Scripps Ranch Security. The cost is so much more affordable and the customer service can’t be beat.
Joe tested all my equipment, set up the new burglary and fire monitoring and reduced my annual fee (all in under an hour). Yea! Can’t beat that with a stick. (FYI, one of the «big companies that start with an A» failed to test my equipment for an entire year when I discovered that my phone signal was not properly being sent/​received. That is an example of bad customer service.) SR Security will be doing regular tests of the alarm and signal. That is an example of GOOD customer service.
Also, I explained that some family members have a hard time remembering the code, so he is going to install a device that allows them to arm and disarm with a remote control device. There is absolutely no hard sell, just recommendations based on my needs.
I give this company a 5 star rating and recommend them to all my friends in the Scripps Ranch and Poway area.

Scripps Ranch Security is the best! Joe helped me incredibly, I asked if we could get things installed and up and running before we left town and we worked with us and had it all completely done before we left.
Scripps Ranch Security, I feel, a lot better than an ADT service, WatchDog and any other big name brand ones. Joe personalizes your service, he comes out himself and you build a relationship. You can not have that with any other Security Companies. Joe is not your typical sales man. He tells you the truth and gives you only what YOU NEED.

I have had a couple of different alarm companies in my house over the years. I have never really been happy with them. My contract just ended so I started looking for a replacement. I saw Scripps Ranch Security in the Scripps Ranch newsletter. I called Joe Ryan and he cam over to see what I needed.
I was surprised when I found out that someone could come in and rip the old unit off the wall and destroy it before it called the monitoring service. He suggested a system that would not allow that. He also told me the price and I realized that I was going to save over $ 20 a month!
I went ahead and had him out the new system in. The new system is very easy to use and it has much more capacity for pass codes.
It was a treat to have someone nearby be responsible for my alarm system. Until now it was a never-​ending group of people on the phone. I highly recommend Joe and Scripps Ranch Security.
