I Just had my roof installed. Steve and crew did a great professional job! I had them install the presidential roof and looks amazing. they showed up on time every day cleaned when finished. I can’t believe someone leaving a negative reviews for this company after checking out 10 companies this one showed up did a professional job .I would not hesitate to recommend them for your roofing need. I am very Happy!!!

Shake, Shingle & Roll Roofing Inc. 4655 Ruffner Street #100 San Diego, Ca 92 111 is the WORST Company I have ever done business with! I will only state facts in the review. This company was referred to me by the HOA my first appointment with them was very profession and they were prompt to the appointment. A few days later I received and estimate of the charges and approved them to do the work. The contract was signed with a completion date within 90 days I gave them my deposit and that is when the problems begin. October 2015 until April 2016 no work was even started. I would call the office and they would give me every story in the book why the work had not been done I even ask for my deposit back because it was 5 months into the contract February 2016 and Priscilla told me that I would not get my deposit back because I had signed the contact… A little background on the property, this property is a townhome that did not have any roof damage but the neighbor’s side did have roof damage and according the HOA the entire roof would need to be replace and both owners are responsible for repairing the roof. This property belonged to my sister who had passed away 7 month prior and I feel they took advantage of by grief. It was not until April of 2016 the work was started and a price increased by $ 2,000.00 dollars on a roof that was not even damaged. I asked them to leave any damage wood for me to inspect if any was found and they only thing they gave me that was damaged was 1−1×8 shiplap, 1−2×8 fascia and 1−2×6 rafter tail and the price increased by $ 2,000.00. The roofer who was doing the work would leave gas can on the roof every evening I complained and nothing was done. They workers would start work at 8am — 3pm and take a 2 hours lunch break. You have been warned about this company. In addition to all that once the work was done I told them I will be in 3 days later to pay the remaining balance during that 3 day period I was sent a certified letter saying they would put a lien on my property if I do not pay even though I told Priscilla the day I would be in to pay them and she agreed. Shame on this company!

If I could give this company 10 stars, I would! I wish more businesses conducted themselves this way. First, I met with Dave, the owner who gave me roof lesson 101. He was thorough, patient with my questions and his pride of the company shown through! Then we scheduled with Priscilla who was a dream to work with in the office. They are VERY busy and that is a good sign! Be patient, it is worth the wait. They prepared me for what I needed to do before the arrival, had teams of people who removed the old roof, replaced old wood, then applied the new roof. Like clockwork! Took a total of two to three days. They kept me updated as to any changes in billing as additional work was identified and thoroughly explained what and why. Everyone was efficient, respectful and cleaned up like they were never there. They suggested improvements like replacement of an old solar tube and even sealed an area between my porch and house. Mike was helpful with wood replacement and built up the garage to avoid water pooling. Dave came out regularly to check on the progress. I did not get this good of an impression with other estimates.
No hesitation, would highly recommend them and you want to know you got your monies worth when spending this kind of money.:-)

I had a previous roofer check some possible leaks (no rain and dry at the time) and said the leaks were inactive (we were buying the house so this was part of the inspection). A few rains later that has definitely proven to be incorrect. Had SS&R come investigate and they found very obvious issues right away; removed tiles to check issues (which prior guy did not do) — was obvious even to the untrained eye there were problems. They did a great job fixing the issues and checked the surrounding areas thoroughly. My only grumble is their pricing seems high, but I have nothing to compare it to so that is just my general opinion. They have good communication, friendly staff and did the job well — which is what counts in the end.

I posted a negative comment on this business prematurely. I was definitely wrong, I did not take in consideration up just how busy this company is, after very pleasant conversation with Priscella my entire outlook on the company changed. I would highly recommend this company to everyone.

I was very happy with Dave and his crew. The work they did was great and the materials they used were high quality. Priscilla in the office is delightful too.

Due to a small roof leak, I used Unilocal to look up the phone number of this company, which had re-​roofed my entire house many years ago. I was surprised at the 3 negative reviews, considering my excellent experiences with the company. I had used this company after having been referred by a friend in the real estate industry and after I had obtained several other roofing quotes. One section of my roof has a low slope, which made the job more challenging. The work was great and at a low price. Since then, and long after the warranty expired, they have returned and repaired two leaks for FREE, though I was prepared to pay for the work each time.
Though I have used Unilocal many times, this is the 1^st time I have written a review. I want to comment on the 3 negative reviews out of the 18 total. One reviewer complained that some dirt fell in the home they were renting. If common sense doesn’t dictate that customers cover or remove anything in the vicinity of any construction activity because dust and debris are natural consequences, the company’s estimate sheet gives instructions to cover affected areas of the home. Sounds like the landlord never gave that info to the tenant – certainly not the roofer’s fault.
Another reviewer complained about the price in relation to how long the work took, without including the time it took to diagnose the roof problems, go purchase and pick up the various materials, and clean up afterwards. Good roofing materials are not cheap and that reviewer never said how much were the supplies and materials, usually the largest expense of the job. The reviewer could have obtained several roofing estimates to confirm whether the quote was in the ball park.
The last complaint was comparing the cost of a new roof to patching an old roof. That decision hinges upon how much longer you plan to live in the house. If you just want to get past the next rainy season and then sell the house, then patch. If you plan to live there many years, then re-​roof. I’ll bet that this company would have quoted patching too, if requested.
I’ll hire them to re-​roof my home when that time comes.

We have just had our roof done by Shake, Shingle & Roll Roofing and I could not be more pleased with the work done. They were very professional, both in the initial bid process and the work performed. I had a budget and they helped me get the work that needed to be done plus some and stay within the budget. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing roofing service.

When Dave came to give me an estimate, he came well prepared with samples of the products they will be using. They were willing to negotiate bid price. The job started at 7 am on Tuesday and ended at noon on Thursday. After each day, Dave would explain the progress of job. Mark kept me informed of any additional charges that occurred as the job progressed. The company was clean, efficient and informative. Dave even left me extra shingles. I recommend this company if you ever need any roofing done. Thank you, Dave and crew. You made getting a new roof a smooth experience.

These guys must have lost a manager, be growing too fast, or simply be incompetent. They are working on our roof right now, and on several occasions have neglected to keep anyone informed of schedule changes, including both the home owner (our landlord) and their material supply vendor. Once they started tearing out the old roof, they did not cover up vents, kitchen hood etc, meaning that we came home to find roof junk on our stovetop, bathtub, bathroom shelf, kitchen cupboard, etc. The only task that seemed important enough to not forget was putting up their marketing sign in our front yard, which I’ve taken down for the aforementioned reasons.
Fail.

I’ve used Shake Shingle and Roll twice, once when buying my house, and now when selling it. They’re pros, they work with you and have reasonable prices for exceptional work. I sent them my home inspection report both times and just told them what needed to be done. They came by to verify, then helped us prioritize what needed to be done and how much it will costs. They don’t nickel and dime you, if something minor comes up along the way, they’ll work with you and it somehow just gets covered. Great guys, great service, very professional. They’re my go to.

I have used Shake, Shingle, and Roll roofing for all of my projects. Over the last 14 years I have owned three homes and have always used them. Dave (owner) is knowledgeable, friendly, and has always given me a fair deal. Their work ethic is outstanding and you can be satisfied of having a job done well. Will never hesitate to use them and recommend them highly. The only issue is the person who answers the phone, Mark, is not very friendly, but don’t let that deter you from hiring this company.

I have hired them to work on some commercial projects as well as them hiring our company as there rain gutter contractor. They have always been an outstanding contractor to work with and for.

They do good work, and if something is screwed up, they do come out and make it right. I had my roof done in 2001 and I called them because the garage started leaking. Granted, it took them two months to actually fix it, but that’s the nature of contractors. Plus, it was the rainy season so that was part of the problem.

All I can say is that I was charged $ 1,475 for 1.5 hours of work (2 workers, basic materials). I’m not a roofing expert, but this price for this amount of time of work seems a bit exorbitant. I feel like I was taken advantage of.
