Shelter Island Capital started in 2003 as a Mortgage Brokerage. The principle has been practicing real estate since 1998 with even more seasoned professionals in house. We have funded Thousands of Transactions and 100’s of Millions in Mortgage Loans since then.



In 2005 Insurance Services were bundled into the business as a complement for our clients’ personal insurance needs for their Real Estate transactions. Insurance has grown into offering heath and life insurance, commercial, apartment, and marine insurance.



Everything about Shelter Island Capital is geared towards smooth transactions, great rates, while protecting the property and lively hood and doing what we can to improve the lives of our clients. Our service doesn’t end after closing.

Ben was AWESOME! He helped with my loan for my new house in the Bay Area. So I found Ben while applying for a loan at Wells Fargo. While waiting for them to process my paperwork (only to find out that after they had ran my credit and wasted my time, that I was denied for not having 2 years of W2’s) a lady who was making a deposit gave me Bens phone number. Ben was AMAZING from the start! He answered his phone on the first ring and before meeting with him, emailed me a list of items to bring in before meeting with him. I don’t think I’ve ever called Ben and he didn’t answer his phone (even sometimes at 8 pm!). There are no words to describe how helpful and patient he was! It took me a while to find a place that I liked, and he would check in periodically to see how I was doing. When it was time to process a loan, he would update me DAILY on how things were going along. I’m a first time home buyer, and it was important to me to know what was going on and when it was going on. Not only was Ben there to walk me through the application and loan process, but he also got me the best rate and loan.

If you want a loan at a great rate done at record speed call Ben. We had our lender finalized and our Realtor told me to call Ben to compare rates. I’m so glad we did. The rates were the same but the closing credits he got us saved us over $ 10,000! On top of it, he closed our loan in less than 30 days! Don’t make a mistake with possibly your biggest lifetime purchase — call Ben!

I have nothing but great things to say about working with Ben and Greg on our mortgage refinancing. I was referred to Ben by my sister who worked with him when she purchased her first home and when she recently refinanced her mortgage. My original mortgage was through US Bank, but when my husband and I decided to refinance we had a really hard time getting anyone to call us back — they were really unresponsive. Back in July I was a first time homebuyer trying to buy a house after years of avoiding it because it seemed so daunting being a single woman to get into an unstable market. Ben was my rock. Most than anyone else on the team of people helping me through this process, Ben was there every moment I needed him. His communication was quick and clear (he knows I’m a text girl, not vm). Once I provided him with all the info he needed from me he ran with it and made me feel very supported. I am a tough customer with high expectations and he exceeded them every chance he got.
