I have gone to this Soapy Joe’s many times, and it seems to be hit or miss with problems.
One time I got a code from the gas station for a car wash, when I entered the code it said the code had already been used. After going back and forth from the gas station to the car wash several times I ended the day with no car wash and refused to pay for another.
Another time I was using the vacuums. I had reached it around the passenger side of my car, and afterwards realized there was gravel stuck to the hose and that it completely scratched up the entire passenger side top of my car.
Yesterday was the last straw for me. I got a car wash and was using one of their «clean» towels to wipe off any additional water, only to realize I was spreading some sort of greasy residue all over my clean car, which I can now barely see out of the windows from. I will not be returning to Soapy Joe’s.

Ive been here a few times with my old car and was satisfied with the results. BUT I recently purchased a new car and was excited to bring it here. Much to my surprise I now have at least 5 hand-​sized spots on my car where the brushes left scuffs in my clear coat. Not only did I try to fill a complaint form for their corporate, I tried following up when I didn’t receive any progress on filing a claim. Apparently the manager wasn’t there on Friday when I went. They asked if I could come back Saturday, but I live 30 miles away I’m not doing that. I have yet to hear anything back and am deeply disappointed as now I have to fix THEIR mistakes. PLEASE dont take your new car here, you will be disappointed just like me.

I just went here for the first time and I am very satisfied with the value received. I paid $ 7 for the basic wash, no line at 4pm and the attendant was perfectly attentive and unintrusive. The wash itself was very fast. Looking at the car afterwards, there were TONS of dirty spots left, mostly stubborn pollen and some bird poop. But I’m still giving 5 stars because with the free microfiber towels provided, I was able to get every spot cleaned up with ease! And I would VERY much prefer an undercleaned car to one with scratches and stripped paint. Add in the free vacuums (which SAY 5 minute limit, but don’t require tokens and never actually shut off on you) and I am one happy camper. My new go-​to car wash!

After coming out from the automated washing machine, my car’s side mirror fell off. Their giant big mop just slapped everywhere on my car — I guess it is good for cleaning, but it might actually damage your car. I was just not very with how they solved this issue — the person working at soapy Joe just used some tape and taped my mirror so that it can be used temporarily, and he said he would have the owner call me the next day, but nobody had ever called me, till a few days later I called them. The store manager said I may drive my car in and he would use tape to tape it for me again if it is not holding up but they won’t fix it for me. It is very bad customer service of theirs!!!

Under staffed. I paid for my car wash but there was no one in the front to guide me for the tire placing or to start the car wash. I had to wait 5 minutes before someone came to help. This car wash place is definitely a hit or a miss. But this is the second miss…
First miss was about 3 weeks ago where they gave me the wrong wash. However i was fine with that since they fixed the error by overriding the whole system and giving me the correct wash after the initial wash. Definitely needs a better system and it’s not good to go when it’s crowded because you might get your wash mixed with someone else’s. Its fine if you get the average Joe… but if you pay more, you’d be losing out.

I have journeyed up to Sorrento Valley now three separate occasions over the past week and each time the car wash has been out of order. I am a monthly member, have been for nearly a year now, and the fact that I can’t wash my car (I drive and need a clean car to make money) is absurd. The workers here are nice, I have no complaints with the employees or the service they provide, but a car wash business that sells monthly subscriptions needs to have a functioning car wash for its subscribers.

I came here for an oil change and car wash special. Very pleased with the interactions with the employees. The oil change was quick (which was great because I came during my lunch break). They don’t do an in-​depth check on the car but they do check all your basic fluids and tire pressure. Really everything you expect from a quick lube. I watched the attendant turn down a tip from an older couple who begged him to take it because they appreciated his help. The free /​cheapest wash was but with all the pollen you end up cleaning up the imperfections anyway. The best part is there’s no time limit for the so you aren’t racing against the clock. I’ll definitely come back!

Get the unlimited monthly pass for the best deal! Free vacuums and towels for you to dry off your car and to wipe down the interiors.

Beware of this carwash! They scratched my brand new car and won’t admit their fault! Cancelled my membership and not coming back!

As I am writing this review, I am a UPSET that they took away the air pressure!!! WHY???
Soapy Joe’s does the job when you need to get your car wash and some exercise along with it. They do offer unlimited car wash at a monthly price and happy hour between 6−8pm daily.

Great experience every time. Clean towels always replenished when I come and not too long of line during the day. Gets busy evenings and nights due to being near the Qualcomm Mecca. I think the pricing caters more towards monthly memberships, as pay as you go washes usually are more expensive. I would totally get a membership if there was a location closer to me, but alas there is not one. Sad. The car wash doesn’t get your car sparkling clean but to be fair, I’ve only washed cars that sit in the sun and bake dirt onto. The real appeal comes when I get to care for my car myself and clean it the way I like. No one does something better than you do yourself. Great concept!

I’ve been coming here to get car washes maybe once every few months! I especially love their happy hour deal after 6pm! :) The vacuum station comes with a purchase and it sure helps keeping your interior clean and dustless. I have always had pretty good experience here, but one of my friends have noticed that her car has a couple scratches on her car after her car washes!
I came on April 21^st, 2016 for their free Soapy Joe’s Car Wash day! You get a $ 19 magic potion + free air freshener! I thought the car wash was very standard and the associate at the car wash entrance was helpful and the guy that was passing out the free air freshener was very friendly and cheerful! ;) The line was not too bad when I got there! Considering we can get a free car wash. I wish I would have taken pictures of before and after pictures of my car! My car was really dusty and dirty due to the construction going on around my work! However, the drive-​thru car wash banged my side mirror towards my car, fortunately, no damages were observed.

Oil change sticker said return date 04÷21÷16. How in the hell I managed to get to Soapy Joe’s on the exact day it says on the oil change sticker is beyond me… and I am still in shock. What? I’m a female… sue me. Anyone that knows me knows I slack on getting oil changes/​maintenance/​tire rotations for my car. If I had the stupid maintenance required light showing on the panel I’m the type of girl to cover it up with a picture or a business card. I’m just speaking the truth… My poor old civic [may she rest in peace] was evidence of this type of neglect. Enter my new rav4. I am so impressed with myself, this car has been spoiled. It gets regular oil changes… new tires… tire rotations… go on girl! What what! And all at Soapy Joe’s.
Taking my car for services has never been pleasant for me. Until I found Soapy Joe’s. Staff is always nice. Today I got a oil change and tire rotation. I don’t feel hassled, and I didn’t have that anxiety that I used to get when I took my car into other places.
Today was also national soapy Joe car wash day. There was a huge long line… of people all there trying to get a free carwash. It’s a free carwash and of course you have the people who are there getting a free carwash and complaining about anything and everything. People never cease to amaze me, but this Friday is the full moon so you know what that means… hide the sugar.
I jinxed the carwash when I was heckling a customer. Customer was laughing when I said «you waited all this time for a carwash? Really? Sorry carwash is closed». Then it happened. A chain in the car wash went haywire and poof… the carwash was no longer working and that customer ended up not getting his free carwash. He was still laughing at me, staff had a good sense of humor/​professionalism. I came on Unilocal to see if anyone complained about it… it’s not soapy Joe’s fault… it was mine. I jinxed it.
So glad that I didn’t get a chance to use the carwash. The code I was given is good for one year. Because the carwash was down, they still allowed me to use the vacuum. Great customer service.

I’ve been coming here since my friends recommended it to me a couple years back. I would originally drive my TSX but it’s slammed to the ground and would get stuck in the machine. So lowered car friendly? Nope!
But now I bring my BMW here frequently because white cars suck and get dirty easily. When I’m not feeling lazy, but definitely feeling a little broke, I’ll get my washes here than down the street where other people wash, dry and vacuum my car.
Anyways, I’m rambling. You can get better deals if you get monthly/​annual pass. I’m not too sure of the prices exactly. But, it was $ 7 a regular wash. You dry your own car. Sometimes they’re out of clean towels and you have to find someone to get more. Then you can vacuum your own car. It says there’s only a 5 minute limit to all this. But honestly, I take my sweet a** time.

Well I have never been here because I can’t seem to get anyone to answer their phones! This location in Mira Mesa supposedly does oil changes and car washes and I really needed an oil change… Didn’t want to just show up and wait.
I have called 4 times today 3 of the times it just rang and rang and rang and the fourth time someone answered and hung up… Not going here.
If you can’t answer the phone, how can you change the oil in my car!!! Or do a car wash for that matter

I live in San Marcos and always go to the San Marcos Soapy Joe’s but had errands to run off Mira Mesa Blvd. I had time to kill in between appointments so I decided to get my car washed. Big difference in service and quality. Usually in SM the person directing you to enter the wash takes a brush with soap and washes the front bumper and back bumper as your car begins to enter. Not in this case the kid just pressure sprayed my tires just me RIFHR SIDE. So when I was cleaning my rims I saw how filthy my left ones were and count spray my tire shine on them. My drying time took 3x longer bc their dryer sucks. I usually can get away with one maybe 2 rags and they remain moist. In this case I used like 6 rags that were soaking wet my the time I got decided it was time for a new one. Kind of defeats the purpose of the sign saying 5 minute limit. BTW provide some sort of shade for the poor kid directing the cars into the wash. The San Marcos location at least is an indoor one so these kids get shade even though it’s hot. I should have waited and gone to the San Marcos location on my way home! 2 thumbs down!!!

The price is very nice for what they offer, but the do a terrible job of fulfilling what the offer. Their car wash completely misses the rear of the car. Their brushes are weak and all the windows are left with smudges, and I could barely see through the side mirrors as it seems that they got more dirty during the wash. The car wash failed to wash off all of the soap and just blew it all over the car, making it look terrible. They offer stations with vacuums and what used to be air brushes that they have removed. The «clean» towels are always wet and covered in hair and dirt.

Soapy Joe’s needs to clean up their act. Your car should be cleaner when it comes out, not more dirty.

I would have given this place a at least but last time I went there I noticed the price went up again. Also the air hose is GONE! I liked having the air hose because the air dryer at the end of the wash does a poor job drying the car. The air hose also helps take all the water out in between cracks of the car, so that when you drive off you don’t have water all of the sudden rolling off your newly washed car. I’m still waiting to see if my monthly price of $ 20 goes up, if it does I think I’ll just cancel the membership and maybe go back to the place where I used to go for $ 5/​wash or just pay the cheapest since I only go 2 or 3 times a month. Also most of the times there’s no «clean» towels available. Even if they are «clean» they feel oily and wet! Kinda gross sometimes. Used to be a really great place sad it’s slowly going down.

Good wash. Was what I needed in a pinch. What more do you want? It does the job. I’d use them again.

My favorite car wash place! I try to clean and dry my car in 5 minutes, but it never happens. I like how convenient and quick it washes my car. I would recommend this place. They need to restock the towels though. Most of the time I’m there, they are usually running low.

I’ve received coupons for this self service car wash but never took advantage of them. We were bored over the weekend so finally decided to try this place out. You drive up to a touchscreen, pick your service, pay, and then a security arm goes up for you to drive up to the car wash. I chose the $ 7 as we wanted to see what the cheapest option resulted in. There were a few cars ahead of us — reminded me of a water ride at Disneyland before it was your carts turn to go down the water roller coaster. Some guy is boringly pointing to the instructions on how to maneuver your car into the wash (put car in neutral, etc etc).
The wash itself was quick and simple (three min or so?). My main concern was the automatic contraption that was guiding the car through the wash — it sounded like it scraped the rims or something most of the time.
The wash blows dry your car which I liked as it did a nice job getting off quite a bit of water. You then drive to a vacuum/​towel station (there were many there) and take care of your car. I agree with others that there weren’t many clean dry towels and the vac didn’t have much suction power.
But for $ 7, it was a great deal and we busted our a**es like no other to clean the car. You can’t really beat your own service when it comes to taking care of your own car right. We weren’t rushed and it was convenient having the ease and availability of towels & a vac that you didn’t have to wash or lug around. They have a monthly membership for $ 15 for unlimited washes that looks worth a research.

I will admit, this is only my second time using this car wash’s services. My boyfriend raved about it so I thought I’d give it a try. The first time was decent; I didn’t like the car wash itself but the self-​vacuuming sold me enough to return. Now this time, we were left very disappointed. We wanted to get the car washed right before an event later that night. When we took a good look at the car an hour after leaving Soapy Joes, there were a ton of water and soap stains all over the windows, bumper, and sides. The whole car in general looked terrible. If there’s a hand-​wash place closeby, go there instead. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Supah quick, convenient, and gentle on my car. The employees are always pretty groovy, often wearing bow ties and ready to help anybody with anything. The vacuums are legit, even giving customers multiple size options and an air hose to reach any/​all nook or cranny. They provide towels too, so leave yours at home!

I went there today at 6.30 pm. Car came out with several water spots. When I called the supervisor he tried to remove it but could not. He apologized and tried calling the manager as he had left for the evening. He asked me to come back again tomorrow and talk to the manager. Not happy.

I have been using this service for three months now. Overall it is a good service. Great idea and business model. I gave three stars because of reoccurring issues that need to be addressed. I even saw this issue when I went to the Rancho Bernardo store. There are repeated shortages of towels and the ones that are available when they are are wet. I also observe that the employees there spend time on their phones, wiping down things that really don’t need that much attention, and doing nothing at all. I presently work as a driver for Über and Lyft. My resume speaks of 30+ years of management. This experience ranges from Military, restaurant, and operational management. I offer my services to look into and rectify these and any other issues. You have a great idea and it would be a shame to see it loose the market to an up comer with the same idea over towels. I love coming here for a carwash. It’s right across the street from work so it’s convenient for me to go during lunch or after work. Prices are cheap and they have an abundance of vacuums available for customers after the way. I also heard that the solution they use will also not strip the paint off the car or do any damages to anything in the long run.
I would give it 5 stars but sometimes there’s no worker at the front to do a quick rinse on my car before it enters the automated system. Also their vacuums aren’t that great. Maybe I picked a one but it didn’t really pouch you anything so I didn’t really leave with a happy satisfied and extra clean car.
I definitely still will come here again. It’s a quick, convenient self-​service place

Best automated car wash I’ve had in San Diego. The blowers are sufficient, and I like being able to dry/​vacuum my car myself. It saves me the drama if the job isn’t done sufficiently.
It’s not close to where I live but close to work. Will definitely be taking advantage of $ 20/​mo unlimited washes and worth driving up here to for a wash.

Car wash does its job, but the blow dryer could do a better job. Also they never seem to restock the clean towels. +1 star for free vacuums

I took my car for an oil change and car wash. I used a coupon from my junk mail for $ 20 oil change with a Super Joe car wash. This was the first time having an oil change at a Soapy Joe’s. The service is ok. They seem kind of disorganized and ad hoc. Not a step by step methodical process like Valvoline drive through oil change. You have to get out of the car. There isn’t anywhere sit and wait. Took about 20 minutes to complete. And I nearly got hit by my car as the mechanic drove it in reverse to pull out the garage. The mechanic left greasy boot marks on the floor mats.
Good part is that no sales pressure for extra fluid change, though I was ready for it. Nothing like the scam from EZ Lube where they sell you something whether you need it or not. They did ask questions about the car but it seems to be pretty random. They tried to make small talk but I just want to get a quick oil change and go home. Overall on the oil and filter change service, they seem to be competent if not totally smooth.
I probably wouldn’t go through it again without the $ 20 oil change and car wash coupon. Also bring your own paper floor mat covers.

Took my car in for an oil change here and I was very pleased with the service I got! They were very friendly and didn’t give me any crap about my car needing this and that. No upsell stress, no hassle and most importantly. No bullshit! They were very fast and they provide a free car wash along with it! :D Whaaaaat?!? SO HAPPY!!!
I’ve been to the Synfast oil change and they treat me like garbage. I had to listen to the guy telling me that I’m stupid for not putting high mileage synthetic oil in my car. They also said that several things needed to be replaced (I’d understand air filter) but really, I do not need to change my coolant… Maybe I will at 120,000 miles… But Wow, #1 — My car is a 2014 with barely any miles on it… And #2 — I’m a starving college student that can barely make ends meet… But I HAVE to take care of my car every 3,000 miles. I mean, call me stupid if I DONT ever get an oil change… They completely tried to take advantage of me at the Synfast Oil Change in Mira Mesa… And maybe because I’m a female :(I’ll never go back.
Soapy Joe’s Auto Care is AWESOME!!! I will be coming back every 3,000 miles!!! I’m also thinking of signing up for their monthly car wash deal, unlimited car washes for $ 20 a month … NOT BAD!!! :D

I had been a customer of Soapy Joe’s in Vista for years. I loved the fact that they had people who would finish the car wash for me. They always did a great job and they were tipped well for it.
I recently moved to Mira Mesa and was excited to see one here. Unfortunatley it’s an entirely automated system and no one assists with anything. When our car was through the system, there were still yellow spots all over it. This is a brand new car with a perfect finish, and it was NOT that dirty. We had to come home and re wash the car completley.
Very disappointed and will find another car wash here in Mira Mesa.

I paid $ 15 for an upgraded wash, vacuumed my car WITHOUT the haste of keeping track of how much time I have left. Oh no, I took my time and cleaned that thing out gooood. I’m super happy with the efficiency of this place. If I lived closer I would for sure do the $ 20/​mo unlimited membership. Good on ya Soapy Joe.

I pay $ 20 a month for unlimited washes. You go through the touchscreen prompts, then the guy is waiting and directing you before you go in for the wash, then you have the option to wipe down and vacuum your car (they have complimentary towels to use). It shouldn’t take more than 20 min tops (I have a truck btw). You’re in, you’re out. By the way, the unlimited washes goes for all Soapy Joe’s locations.
It’s quick, easy, and affordable when compared to buying single washes here and anywhere else. I highly recommend getting unlimited washes.

How can there be so many four star reviews? Easy, because you do the shine yourself. That happens to be the gripe at other joints — the guys that dry down your car don’t do such a great job… but the owner… he’ll make that hood shine!!! Plus the vacuums are strong — really strong — hicky strong (don’t ask). They also have pressurized air so you can blow the water right outta the cracks. Really a funny concept — you pay about the same as the other car washes — but you are doing the majority of the work. And for that amazing con, I gotta give it a star on its own. I found it better to bring your own towels, and there was no air freshener or tire shine.

Before you read my review, you should know that me bringing a car into a car repair shop, or anything to do with repairs/​service is like putting a cat into a bathtub. If you have read my other reviews regarding some of the places I’ve been to, you would understand why. I am highly anxious when I have to do anything that requires money and my car.
5 stars all the way around soapy joes. It was between synfast and soapy joes. After reading all the piss poor reviews about synfast I decided what the hell, let’s give soapy joes a chance. I don’t regret it.
I was greeted and I told the manager that I was there for a oil change and I asked about the synthetic oil because my car is snobby and I guess only uses synthetic. Which is fine. Then I asked him if they did brakes. He said yes. He asked me which brakes needed to be changed. I said I hadn’t a clue, all I know is when I brake the car a very eery EEEEEEEEEEEHEHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE comes from the brakes. He told me it was only my front brakes after taking a look. Honesty… I dig it.
Everything regarding prices were upfront. They did not try to upcharge me or bamboozle me with unnecessary bullshit, which I appreciate. They had to wait for the courier to bring the brakes. They brought the wrong ones. I had to wait until they brought the correct ones. One of the mechanics came out to apologize for the wait. I honestly didn’t care about the wait. I just appreciated that they were upfront with me. Even watching the guys interact with each customer… really friendly and nice.
I paid and drove around the building to make use of the free car wash. Went through the carwash and pulled up into one of the stalls to dry and vaccum. Spent probably an hour and a half cleaning my car. What… yeah it was a HOT ASS MESS. Was not bothered by any of the staff, was given fresh clean towels.
Will I be back? You bet your sweet ass I will. Especially with this water drought. I don’t want the water popo in the neighborhood to call if they see me washing my car in the driveway. Thank you soapy joes for giving me trustworthy service. My brakes don’t make any noise and I don’t have to worry about my oil change for the next couple thousand miles !!!

I have whatever the best unlimited wash plan. I go there about three times a week, so it’s well worth it. Staff is really nice. They always have plenty of towels to dry your car off. Vacuums are always working well. A few times they’ve ran out of air fresheners. Overall I’d have to say it’s well worth it.

This is currently my favorite car wash spot. With the whole drought going on, I definitely can’t wash the car on my driveway anymore so I decided to give this place a shot since it isn’t one of those gas station ones.
Right off the bat, I get much better value than the other automated washes. for $ 10 you get what would cost the max option at Shell. The wash is quick and they scrub the rear end of the car on the way in — something that auto washes tend to miss!
Once you’re out, you can dry your car with the microfiber towels they provide! Although I recommend bringing your own because they do run short of them. They also have a vacuum and high pressure air gun to blast water out of the small annoying corners. Overall a great place to really clean your car.
TIP — They have a happy hour between 6 – 8 so right after work, the car washes are CHEAPER! Definitely awesome!

This is my go to place to get my oil change. The guys here are super nice and friendly and take care of my car like it’s theirs.

As far as automatic car washes go, they are all mostly the same, pay your fee, have the car wash guy navigate you onto the pulley, and then forget to put it in neutral and take your foot off the brake.
What makes Soapy Joes different, is the area to finish up the job for free. They have air blowers to get in the nooks and crannies, towels to finish the drying, and different shaped vacuums to get into all of the spaces those rouge french fries may have fallen into.

For the price this is a good car wash. It is basically a drive thru do it yourself. It seems the price is right for being able to use the compressed air and vacuum. With a little extra work the car comes out clean not detailed clean but it’s worth the price.
They have an unlimited car wash service and it seems to be a good deal but without truly giving it a test I am unsure. I would come back if I have time and need a quick wash.

I Always passed by this car wash and thought it was cool. Always reminded me of the movie Cars. One day I finally came by and found out they they had an unlimited deal for a month. They have packages starting at $ 15 for unlimited washes for the entire month. I got the $ 20 package that comes with triple conditioner, rain repellant and tire shine. I’m always satisfied after every wash. It’s such a convenient place for me because they open at 8am and close at 8pm daily. There’s usually no wait whenever I go at 8 or 9am on the weekends.
Unlike most car washes especially at gas stations, the scrubs and brushes look soft and doesn’t scratch your car. There’s also a vacuum station and also a station to wipe your car down. They do provide towels for wiping down your car as well.
I highly recommend you check this place out. They have good deals!!!

This is my goto car wash!
I Normally get their average joe for $ 6 but if you come around 6:30 it’s $ 5 for their happy hour discount. What I really like about this car wash is that they have their own vacuum stands and dry towels to wipe down your car.
I definitely recommend this car wash place if you want to go cheap. The vacuum is just a bonus!

Probably one of my favorite places to go get my car wash. I literally live 2 minutes away from here and it’s just really excellent. I usually purchase gas at the shell station next to it and add on a car wash to save 20 cents a gallon. Pretty much a bonus in my eyes ! I’m cheap and i always purchase the basic wash which is only 6 bucks (still totally worth the money) I think getting a 6 buck car wash still gets the job done and my car is clean and shiny again.
But what I really love is that after the wash they have stations you drive up to to vacuum your car. Which is literally my favorite part because the inside of my car gets pretty dirty (since I eat in the car and make huge messes) haha they even have clean towels they provide to wipe down your car and a small tool that sprays out air to get dirt, crumbs in hard to reach places inside your car. Overall, this place is excellent and I’m so glad it’s right next to home. Totally recommend to anyone with a dirty car !

Great concept, very good presentation, and excellent prices!
$ 6.00 for a basic wash (more for other services), then you finish drying and vacuuming the car yourself. What more do you need for a car wash??? They have many different packages and if you buy more washes in advance, then you get some free. They also have monthly unlimited for as low as $ 15.00. If I lived closer to the location, that sounds like a great deal to me.
