Bought a $ 4k sofa/​recliner. After several weeks found a thread was coming out so we called and they said they would pickup and bring a loaner while it was being repaired. Great.
About 8 weeks later they returned the «repaired» sofa. Wahoo!
After they left I reclined and examined the repaired spot to discover another thread needing repaired six inches away. I immediately called and they returned the loaner and took our sofa away.
So far sounds pretty good except for the repeat problem and the argumentative delivery man.
This is where it all starts to fall apart.
The manager called and offered to repair or replace. At first we agreed to repair but then decided this could be an ongoing problem with this sofa. So we called Nicole back and said replace, probably with a different model.
We made a trip into the store spent a couple of hours and decided we liked the same model but wanted a fresh start and selected a different color too. Nicole asked if we would be willing to give the repair shop a second try, and then if there was a problem they would replace. We left and said we would call with a decision.
Nicole mentioned after 18 years she was leaving in a month. I wasn’t sure if we would get the same offer once Nicole left so we decided on the new sofa.
Turns out it was the right decision as about two weeks after we picked the new sofa we got a call from the «no integrity» owner and she said we had two choices; «Keep what you have after it is repaired with a 10% discount, or full refund, but we are not willing to replace it with a new sofa.»
Turns out the owner overrode the Manager’s decision and Nicole said in 18 years she had never done that.
We took the refund. Decided doing business with an owner with no integrity was worth looking for a new sofa.
Nicole has moved on and this place will never be the same.
Think twice about doing business with them. And remember this «In God we trust, all others PUT it in writing.» If they are not willing to write it down then walkout. If it is not in writing and you go to court then a judge is more likely to not side with you.

Had a really wonderful experience at Sofa Designers. The staff seemed very knowledgeable about the products they were selling and answered all questions I needed. Would highly recommend!

I came in here after going to Jeromes, MOR, & Living Spaces a few times & got annoyed with the sales people. I was interested in purchasing the Flexsteel DIGBY set, but I wanted to pick out the fabric & upgrade the cushion. Nicole, Gracie & John (the Flexsteel rep) are all AMAZING. They spent days with me picking out the fabric, coordinating it with my other furniture & house paint. Nicole & her team are so wonderful to work with. They are always helpful & answered my never ending questions & that’s even after I placed the order. Also, it was very helpful that I was able to borrow the swatches that I picked to coordinate pillows & accessories. The BEST part was the price. Nicole was able to match the price from Living Spaces with additional discount & I was able to get the furniture that I really wanted & personalized by me. Hector & Albert delivered my furniture on time & helped me moved my furniture around. GREAT SERVICE. NO PRESSURE TO BUY & STAFF ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. It was fast, easy & convenient. I RECOMMEND this place for all your furniture needs. I AM A HAPPY CUSTOMER. :)

Worst service I have ever experienced.
A day after I ordered the sofa I called the owner to ask her to change it for a smaller one and she said that I couldn’t make any changes. Bad start! I am sorry that I didn’t call the bank right away to make a stop payment.
They didn’t deliver what I ordered, but I accepted it just because they offered a discount.
They didn’t set it right, so now I am stuck with a sofa that it’s too big and they didn’t leave any space for me to vacum behind the sofa or to open the windows. I wrote to them asking if they could send someone to move it, and they didn’t bother to reply.
I would never again buy from them. The sofa is not worth what I paid for it.

I was extremely impressed by the amount of variety that this place had to offer. Diane was extremely personable, creative and wonderful to work with. If you come here, ask for Diane! I do not have a decorating bone in my body. When it comes to decorating, i lack being able to explain what I am going for. Diane was able to interpret my vision.

The worst customer service I have ever had from a furniture store. They were all over me until I purchased (and it was a very large purchase). The customer service phone number is a voicemail that noone ever answers. Delivery was a disaster. I haven’t owned my furniture long enough to rate it but the horrible customer service is reason enough to never shop here.

We have owned many many sofas over the years, as we are now both in our 60’s. Our Flex Steel sofa and recliner chair is going away the best we have ever owned. After several years of reasonably hard use, a small piece of plastic on the handle of the recliner broke and we contacted Brendan to see about getting a replacement. As I was not able to identify the exact model number he ordered several different handles for me and generously offered me a backup when I came to pickup the handle, which my husband chose to install rather than making them come the hour’s drive away, although Brandon said they were happy to offer that home repair service to us .
I’m extremely happy with this furniture and very pleased at the service that I’ve received here. In looking at some of the other Nit picky reviews, I am amazed that some people seem to just be looking to be unhappy. Can’t imagine a better experience than that which I’ve had with sofa designers.

My experience with Sofa Designers on Miramar Road is both good and bad, but mostly bad. The only good part is that we LOVE the couch itself. It’s very very comfortable. However the customer service was absolutely horrid, except for the first day, which was when we bought it with Maija’s assistance.
Unfortunately, the reclining leather couch we purchased that they delivered was flawed in four different ways. First, it was damaged, the zipper underneath the foot rest was broken and the stuffing was messed up which caused a dimpling effect on the leather when reclined. In addition, there were three other obvious flaws. I believe someone else had bought this couch and returned it.
I called the company up immediately and they responded well. They arranged to have the second couch delivered in a reasonable amount of time. This went down one week before Thanksgiving, and I was about to have a house full of guests. They suggested I wait until after Thanksgiving to have it replaced. That was fine by me since I had plenty to do to prepare for the holiday.
The second couch that they brought me looked much, much better. However, little did I know that it also had a flaw. A major one! Unfortunately we didn’t discover the flaw until about two weeks after the couch was delivered. First of all, I want to say that this couch must weigh about 1000 pounds (Flexsteel is fabulous and strong, but very very heavy). My husband is a strong man and works out at the gym and he still had a hard time trying to shift it even by a few inches. It was a real back breaker! The flaw was a damaged foot located on the front middle of the couch. My daughter dropped an earring and it rolled under the couch (I need to mention that when you look under this couch you do not see the typical 4−6inches of space like most couches. The steel mechanisms underneath goes almost straight to the floor, within about an inch making it very difficult to see underneath the couch, And forget about vacuuming underneath it!). When she went to retrieve it, she noticed a severe gouge on our hardwood floor right next to the foot. There was even sawdust next to it The gouge looked like a zigzag pattern. When the delivery guys delivered it they had to shift it back and forth once or twice to put it in the perfect position. By the way the delivery guys each time they delivered the couches were very nice and very professional. Brandon was the name of one if them.
My husband said that it most likely was due to a defective foot on the couch. He said it must be an exposed screw, nail, or metal piece causing the gouging. So I called up Sofa Designers immediately to inform them of the damage and the damaged foot. Well let me just say, it took 4 phone calls (and 1 full month) to get anyone remotely interested in helping me. And in the meantime, my beautiful maple hardwood floors were getting further and further damaged. I asked to speak to the owners each time I called but not once did they have the courtesy to pick up the phone and call me. The manager was of no use as well, promising to get back to me after each time I called, and never once did. They had the delivery guy, Brandon, call me, like that’s his job! I made it clear to them from the he beginning that it was not a delivery issue, it was a defective product issue.
After the second phone call, I told them that we would accept $ 100 so my husband could buy the supplies to repair the floor and do it himself. Well, that $ 100 offer was made early on, 3 weeks before they tried to resolve the issue. Like I mentioned before, the foot continued to damage the floor during this time period, damaging the floor even more severely.
I felt completely ignored. This company just didn’t give a damn about my floors. They got my money and that’s all they cared about! To be honest, I would have returned the couch if I didn’t love it so much. I have a bad back and this couch was really really comfortable. Which is really sad for the makers of Flexsteel products, to have such a pathetic company representing them.
Anyway the end result was: I never once spoke with the owners, I only dealt with the delivery man, and because they just wanted to shut me up, they accepted the earlier $ 100 offer I made. I accepted it because I was frustrated and fed up with dealing with incompetent boobs! I immediately regretted doing so as now we have to cough up another $ 500 to repair the damage that was caused by the defective foot on this couch. When I first called them it probably would have only costed $ 100 to fix, but because the dragged their feet, it’s going to cost me five times that amount!!! I’m so angry with myself for accepting that offer!!!
Anyone thinking of even setting a single pinkie toe inside the Sofa Designers Miramar location will live to regret it! Don’t do business with these bozos! They don’t care about you and are highly unprofessional!

I entered this store with high hopes, and left thrilled and excited that I found what I was in search for! The nicest gal helped me, and she was fabulous! Super helpful, attentive.

I went home and did some minor consumer comparisons. Thank God I did because after about two strokes of the key board, I found the exact brand, SAME EXACT sofa vendor and model for ***$ 1,300 CHEAPER!!***
I almost got played. Bummed. Glad I didn’t place my order here. Super mark ups. (This is not a reflection of the fantastic customer service I received, just the companies price gouging — Eeek)

I am a local designer here in San Diego, and have used Sofa Designers for a number of different clients. My clients were very pleased with them, and as I designer, as I was as well. For consumers, they are friendly, informative, and if you are looking for a good quality/​sturdy made sofa for a reasonable price range — higher end, then this is a good place. For me in particular, a number of my clients were needing large sections between $ 3,500 — $ 5,000, that were very well made (wouldn’t fall apart in 2 – 3 years like Pottery Barn often does), and Sofa designers were able to accomplish that. On the vendor side, I would recommend designers to use them because they have GREAT customer service and really work hard to get you the info you need for your clients!

Sofa Designers is awesome. I had no clue what type of sofa I wanted to put in our new living room. My friend recommended me to Sofa Designers where I walked into a huge gallery of living room sets with so many different types of sofas. Antonio the owner made sure we were happy with all of our decisions and had it delivered as soon as it arrived from being custom made. Thank You Sofa Designers

my husband and i bought a flex steel sofa because we heard they were the best. we bought it at sofa design center. we paid $ 3400.00 for it, which for us was a lot of money. about 18 months after buying it, one of the cushions on the back of the sofa just seemed to be deflatiing. the stuffing was just going flat. i called the store only to find out flex steel only guarantees the seat cushions, not the back cushions. they were not very helpful and this is the best part. after months of trying to get extra filler from brendan, i was finally told the additional backing would be waiting for me to pick up at the store ande i would have to fix it myself!!! i still can’t beleive it, but i left that store with a white trash bag filled with loose polyester filling. $ 3400.00, and here’s a trash bag full of filling, go fix it yourself! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? i’m hardly done with this yet, and will keep you posted. but, have 2^nd thought before you go spend your hard earned money here. I’ve had much better luck over the years buying from Jerome’s.

My girlfriend saw the going out of business sign and wanted to take a look. Nice looking sofas most with 60% off tags. She found a sofa and love seat combo on sale for $ 1699 and delivery was another $ 100.
She gave me the sofa and it looks nice and is comfy.
Our sales person was Sharon and it was nice of her to let us in and look around even though we got there right when she was about to close.
I had to call a bunch of times about getting a delivery date as I was told they hired contractors to help with deliveries and they failed to call when they were suppose to. Brandon who is an employee took care of me.

My husband and I ordered two custom, and expensive, pieces of funiture from this store. The couch came in a resonable amount of time but the chair has yet to arrive and we have received little to no communication from the store following NUMEROUS phone calls. I finally spoke with the store manager Nicole today, lets see if she can get us some results.
You should also be aware that there are no deliveries on Saturdays. As professionals, we had to arrange for someone to be home during the week to accept our sofa. You would think that if the store is open on the weekends to take your money, they should also be available for delivery.

I usually read the reviews before I go shopping. Last week, I googled and found 5-​star reviews of the Sofa Design Center at
. I went there and found that was a big lie. It seems to me that those reviews are posted by the owner. (I don’t know, but the tone is like a salesperson.) Almost everything is overpriced. The service is bad. too.

LIARS, CHEATS & SHOTTY GOODS. That’s all you will find if you go here. We were originally fooled by the nice showroom and sugar sweet saleswomen but we soon learned that appearances can be deceiving. I’ll briefly give you the summary of our travails with these jokers.
We (fiancée & I) ordered a custom sofa after picking out exactly what we wanted and going over it with the saleswoman in painstaking detail. Six weeks later, the sofa arrives and whaddya know, its totally the wrong size. Even though it was the stupid saleswoman’s fault for messing up the order with the manufacturer, they tried to blame it on us for «misunderstanding» the dimensions they said the sofa came in. How do you misunderstand dimensions? We asked for 41″ inch cushions (its a big sofa), she said it came with 41′ inch cushions, and then when it shows up with little short pygmy cushions — and how exactly is that our fault? RIiiiiiiiiight… Anyway, after a bunch of back-​and-​forth (and threatening to reverse the charges on the credit card) they grudgingly agreed to send it back to the manufacturer, BUT we had to arrange for pick-​up and had nothing to sit on for 4 more weeks (no loaner, nothin’). Then a few months after having the «corrected» sofa, it began to wear and dirty to an unexpected degree (we have no kids and are at work all day, so the its use is light). When we purchased it, we told the saleswoman we wanted a fabric that was durable, easy to clean, and good for everyday use, and she directed us to the fabric that was on the floor model which she said would meet these qualifications. When we tried to have the sofa cleaned by a professional service they said that they could not clean the fabric because it would cause it to spot and yellow (they also asked us how many years we had the sofa –not months, years!- and commented that it looked about 10 years old) So back to the store, where we posed as new customers (they didn’t remember us) and asked questions about the fabric they had previously sold to us. They again said that it was durable, easy to clean, etc., after which we presented one of our cushions that clearly did not display those attributes. The woman was a little tongue tied but went on to assure us that it could be cleaned, and referred us to a cleaner who would do it. We called the cleaner, who came out and said they recommended dry cleaning (for the same reasons above) but would steam clean it if we wanted to — which we did following the store’s instructions. Sure enough, it left water spots, yellowed the fabric, and didn’t really do much to remove the dirt (after two steamings!). So we again called the store to figure out what to do and after a prolonged hassle they agreed to give us a 50% discount on re-​upholstering since it was «both of our faults.» Ridiculous. They also denied ever telling us that the fabric was durable, cleanable, etc, which they did on two occasions. When I asked if they would split the costs for reupholstering by another vendor (didn’t want to give these scamsters any more money), or only charge me cost (and show me the cost) on the replacement fabric so i could be sure I wasn’t getting ripped off (again), they flat out refused and became irrate. The woman accused me of insulting her integrity (what integrity, you sold me a defective product which you repeatedly misrepresented) and her greaseball husband literally chased me out of the store.
So yeah, that’s were I’m at. Don’t do business with these people. They run a second rate crap-​hole, are incompetent, and sell marginal products at super-​big markups. Don’t let the nice window dressing deceive you as it did me. Unless you are buying a sofa for someone you don’t like (with their money), STAY AWAY. You can get a much better sofa backed by a more reputable company at crate & barrel, ethan allen, and the like. There is no reason to put up with businesses like this.
