Great locations. I love the sports theme carried out completely. I like all the stylists but my favorites are BETH at Clairemont Dr location and ANNA at the Clairemont Mesa location — both in San Diego. I really like and use the hair products used to shampoo and style my hair.

Clean place, nice stylist who know what they are doing. Excellent cut for the money highly recommend if your a man looking for a quality cut while watching sports.

Had a great experience. Despite being busy, I was given an accurate wait time, did a quick errand and then had a fab. haircut. Love the MVP experience. Friendly staff. Keep it up.

***I tried to resolve this with sports clips before this review and was ignored by the store. Corporate sports clips told me every location is independently owned and that the information was forwarded back to this specific location for resolution. I called and left messages for the manager. I was Ignored***
I had the absolute worst haircut experience and an admittedly terrible cut done here by Liz
The interaction from the beginning was cold.
I came in happy saying «greetings and salutations» and was greeted with a cold «Hello» and «what’s your name?» I give her my name and was explaining I have only been to Sports Clips once before, but my explanation was cut short by her saying something to the effect of –not all sports clips are together or unified. The breath of my sentence didn’t even clear my mouth before she responded. She laughed afterward to try and play it off, but it was clearly rude.
I happily shrug it off and she invites me around the corner and suddenly holds Her hand out and lightly attempts a smile and says
«Hi I’m Liz»
and leads me to the chair.
At this point I’m getting a bit worried, because she hasn’t shown ANY kindness or pleasantness at all.
So I sit and she says
«so what are we doing today»
Me: «I’d like a trim of sorts» I say smiling
Liz: «What does that mean?»
She said this so coldly. I’m telling you the tone was nothing short of annoyance smothered with –doing –the –best –one –can to be cordial.
I remember this part of the conversation clearly because I was getting very uncomfortable.
I took the time to explain as BEST I could how I like my hair done.
When I complete my explanation I genuinely ask
«does that help at all?»
And she retorts with this laugh and «yeah, anything else!?» The laugh was clearly not because there was something funny. It was to try to get away with saying that rude comment.
I tried to laugh it off with her, and responded «no.»
At this pont I’m wanting to leave. Im about to leave. I’m full of anxiety because she doesn’t seem like she cares AT ALL. But I decide to forge forward because I don’t want to be the one who’s rude or judgmental. Maybe she’s had a bad day or something. I don’t want to add to it. Maybe we’ll talk and I’ll try to brighten her day. I’m a registered dental assistant. I live to please my patients and doctors. I’m a people pleaser. I thrive on making people happy.
She starts to cut my hair.
She doesn’t say one word.
Not one.
The first time she says anything is after several minutes into the cut and its «Put your head down.»
The interaction kept getting worse and worse. Especially When she asked me what I thought about the cut. When I was trying to explain why the cut wasn’t even, because my hair was lopsided, She kept using key words such as «blend» and «cut» and I heard her and let her know numerous times I don’t understand what she meant by blend. She kept saying I’m telling her to «not blend» or to «move the blend.»
Point is… there was a clear communication barrier and I was the only one trying to work through it while her annoyance grew. My hair was CLEARLY uneven. After she told me a swirl (cowlick as she called it) was one of the many excuses my hair was uneven, I grew too uncomfortable to continue trying with her. She kept saying it’s «because of this or that» causing my hair to be uneven. And if she «does something here, she has to to something here» She clearly didn’t want to cut hair. She was actively making me feel like she didn’t want to work on my hair anymore, like I was being difficult… I just said everything was fine with a smile and let her finish cutting my hair to her satisfaction and standard.
I almost started crying in the chair right there. This was just a terrible experience. Terrible. We then went to the wash house and got my very standard wash and towel on the face.
She leads me back to the chair and I see my hair.
I’m so disappointed.
It was awful.
Uneven, lopsided, and there were dents in my fade. I just want to leave.
So I do.
This stylists standard was to let me leave looking like a fool. Destroying my good day, happy mood, and my confidence in one fell swoop.
Liz walks me out, She gives me the total, I pay, and still tip her 3.00 and through tears and a trembling lip… I tell her how awful she made me feel. And how the experience was terrible.
I was met with a very apathetic «Im sorry.»
I accidentally stumbled upon this Sports Clips looking for another sports clips I had been to. Since I was already there, I decided to try it. After I ended up finding the original one and headed there to have the damage fixed as much as possible. Where I had to pay again. over 55.00 haircut in total.

Zero. Zero stars. Thats what you people get. We walk in, no ones there, so my husband gets to get a haircut without waiting. Awesome. A young girl is the one cutting his hair… I show her a picture of the cut we want. I even explain in detail what he wants. (Might I add this is our first time at this sports clips) she goes back to cut his hair. He comes back with his hair completely shaved off. He LOVES his hair and takes pride in it. And she shaved it off. My husband is in the navy, and has ptsd, along with other medical things, and he already has enough stress and now he feels ugly. We went to the car where he broke down because this stupid child cant cut hair. She gave us a free cut (well yeah cause all you did was shave it off) and we left. Im wroting this because I dont want anyone else to have to experience what my husband just did. And fyi we are sitting in the parking lot right now, this JUST happened) dont go here. Pay 5 bucks more to get what you want. Only come here if you want them to shave your head. Oh. And when I asked the young dipwit if she saw the swoop of his hair in the photo, or even looked at the photo at all, all she said was «im sorry, I forgot» psh. This girl needs to be fired. She doesnt know how to cut hair. Screw you super cuts lady.

I love coming to Sport Clips in Clairemont. The staff is so friendly and professional. They recently moved to a brand new location and it looks great. You can’t beat a scalp massage shampoo with a hot steam towel after your haircut. The big screen TVs are a plus also! I recommend !!

tried to walk in at 4pm to get a haircut. As another customer was walking out, the staff locked the door behind them stating that «We will be open tomorrow». The hours to close are 5pm, so to close the doors at 4pm with a empty store is slightly ridiculous and poor customer service. When asked about closing hours and that they were closing an hour early the reply was that they are open tomorrow. Nice way to welcome customers in a new location.

Difficult it is to find a good haircut especially moving back to California after living somewhere else for many years, I believe I have found my oasis in sport clips. I’ve gotten my hair cut here three times now and I’ve been pleased with every hair cut I’ve had here not only do they know what they’re doing with hair they’re friendly and just the right amount of personable without getting too much into your business. Recommend this place highly

My boyfriend and I walked in for a haircut today. There were two women working and both were busy so we sat and waited. While we were waiting we saw how terrible the two mens haircuts looked so we immediately left. It was not a friendly atmosphere and the hair cuts were awful. I would not recommend this place to anyone

Poor rating is due to their customer service, specifically from a pretty heavy set short blonde woman w/​blue/​green long fingernails, who I think may be the manager.
I have gone in w my bf a few times and I notice how rude she is to customers and it’s such a shame considering all other employees are super sweet and nice.
My bf went in once by himself and got a haircut by her and he said ya she was scary lol
Haircuts on their own are pretty decent, you’re looking at abt $ 22.
If you can get anyone else to take care of you, go for it.

I went to sport clips today they did a great job, I don’t cut my hair often but I will more often now.

I came here in the middle of Jan. 2014 and had a good experience. The wait wasn’t long since I did not have an appointment and the employees were nice. I declined having gel put in my hair and it was nice that they were not pushy about it like some other places. Be warned: they will try to upsell some other services. The facility is pretty clean. I do plan to return to this location.

My first time there Jade cut my hair. She was very friendly and professional. Great deal and service, awesome haircut!

I went in here at 7 oclock yesterday and when I walked in no one was even friendly. I actually heard them complain about how customers come in an hour before closing. The blonde girl I got didnt even seem like she wanted to help me. She had a bad attitude the whole time. wasnt talkative. The whole haircut was incredibly rushed. She didnt even do my side burns. I still gave a tip at the end and she didnt even say thank you she just looked up at me and I just walked out. Never coming back here again.

So I went in here for the first time because I got a coupon for a free MVP. I saw that they have 3 stars but I thought it couldn’t be that bad. Well… I was wrong.
I got there about an hour before closing, and wasn’t greeted. In fact, there was nobody at the front to greet me. The gentleman waiting behind me told me I needed to sign in. Which I did and then took a seat. I waited about 15 – 20 minutes which was not a big deal. However, the gentleman who signed in after I did was called before me. So apparently, that sign in list is not first come first served. That struck me as a bit odd. But I shrugged it off as it didn’t really bother me too much.
Then it’s my turn. My stylist was nice enough but wow… she did a number on my hair! I came in wearing a hat because my hair is funky lookin’. (Hence the need for a haircut.) When you wear a hat, obviously you get «hat hair» meaning your hair is pressed against your head. In the past, when I had gotten a haircut after wearing a hat the stylist would wet your hair or shampoo your hair prior to actually cutting it. This ensures that hair isn’t missed by clippers because it’s pressed flat against your head. She didn’t do that. And maybe this is my fault for not saying anything, but I thought maybe she knew something I didn’t. After the cut, she put some stuff in my hair and it looked «ok». After I got home and washed that stuff out, I saw that my hair was uneven all over the place. I tipped her because again, she was nice enough, but I’m glad I didn’t pay for this haircut. I also wish I could take the tip back.

First of all, obviously I didn’t get anything done here but my husband did. And since he does not Unilocal,I will be his voice :)
I took him here this past weekend to get a REAL haircut before a wedding and our anniversary. I had found a free MVP experience coupon in a coupon book and pushed him through the door to use it. He loved it!!! Not only the quality of the haircut and services, but the girls working there were great. They were friendly to both of us and did a very good job making him look SUPER handsome. What he loved most was not only that it was sports themed, but the MVP Experience which included a tea tree oil shampoo scalp massage, hot towel treatment, and shoulder/​neck massage. He said it was the best haircut he had ever had and wants to make it his new haircut spot. I am so glad he found a place that he likes and feels comfortable coming back to.
