SpringHill Suites San Diego Rancho Bernardo/Scripps Poway

Second time staying here on business (not by choice), second room with a non operable AC. Called in for a drain to be unclogged– someone apparently came in while gone– no fix. Seems like the management cuts corners in the maintenance of the property.

A decent all around hotel with good parking, a nearby Gas Station, Wendy’s, Chilli’s and Yanni’s.
The room was a decent size, but it lacks enough outlets near the bedside. A minor quibble, but as someone who has to carry a CPAP with him, as well as mine and my better half both needing outlets to charge our phones, we almost always end up having to get out the extension cord to have enough outlets. So the provided clock radio was the first thing to be unplugged and its outlet commandeered for our usage. If you require your nightstand have an outlet, you’ll want to bring your own method because these rooms have nothing.
The Wall AC unit is LOUD. When it is running you will have no doubts about that. If you are a light sleeper, it will probably wake you up.
Finally, last in the complaint department, your keycard may require you to insert it several times before it works. Maybe it was just our lock, but three or four inserts were required in most cases.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and always greeted us with a smile coming or going.
The Continental breakfast had all the hits (except a waffle maker, but maybe i’m confusing them with a different property with that).
The property is a bit far from San Diego, but it’s probably in the sweet spot for price and there are many other things around this area so you won’t feel like you are far from civilization.
I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

No problems with this SpringHill Suites. Huge parking lot, great service, clean room, and the experience I expect from Marriott. It was right by the client site and there are plenty of supermarkets/​shops/​restaurants down the street with easy access. It’s a great area but note that it’s 30 – 40 minutes north of San Diego in a very affluent suburb.
The bathroom could be updated to be more modern but I have no major complaints and I would easily stay here again.

We got a free hotel room and a coupon for a free item in their market by the front desk. Free breakfast too! In our room there were two TV’s, a microwave and mini fridge/​freezer combo. What more can you ask for?!

The location is prime for how I like things… far enough from everything touristy to not be over-​congested, yet close enough to be an easy drive anywhere «in-​town»; wherever you need to go.
The staff has been amazing (one of the best) and even though the 4^th floor ceiling hatch was open by room 424 the whole time, that annoyance didn’t bother us.
The breakfast room in the mornings have been taken over by high school kids here on tournament, but really that’s no big deal either… they we’re kind enough and not rude, which made it all ok.
The only thing I’ll do different is switch sides of the bed with my wife… she’s always hot and I’m always cold at night and being next to the air-​con would be better for her… hehehe.

Stayed here several times for a business trip and enjoyed each stay. The rooms are clean and spacious for my family of five. Breakfast is included! Lobby is very inviting, lots of seating for a casual meeting.

Great place to stay. Helpful and polite staff. Complimentary breakfast and even free dinners every night we were here saved us quite a bit of money. We chose it for the kitchen but because the free meals we rarely had to use it.

The price is right.
It’s probably the best-​priced Marriott property in the San Diego area.
And I’m fairly certain it is the only Marriott property in the viscinity that has complimentary parking.
It’s conveniently located within walking distance of dining establishments (another thing that’s a Marriott-​property rarity).
Breakfast is standard.
And the front desk completely «saved my bacon» when it came to buying Seaworld tickets! They sell discounted tickets to many nearby tourist-​destinations.
If my review were based totally on the above-​stated; I would have given 5-​stars!
However, there was no overlooking the general filthiness, and very run-​down state of the guest rooms.
Yikes! They have definitely seen better days!
The carpet in our room was disgusting. It turned the bottom of our socks black.
Drawers were broken on the TV stand. Upholstery was ripped, & stained. The list goes on, and on…
So, be warned. You certainly «get what you pay for» at this Springhill. It’s not all bad. But there’s room for improvement.

The staff was A+! The hotel itself was clean and fairly new, rooms were a good size. Price was fair for the area, and there were restaurants and a gas station within walking distance.
What made the difference was customer service. When I made the reservation, they were sold out of rooms with two doubles. I booked a King and asked to be notified if a cancellation came up. I wasn’t expecting a call, but a few days later I received one. The agent had already made my change and sent a new confirmation, and was just letting me know it was taken care of. Pleasant surprise!
Additionally, our room had a loud A/​C, I mean REALLY loud. Like a vacuum cleaner attached to a helicopter. It also didn’t do the best job keeping the room cool. But, we were exhausted and just went with it. Upon checkout, I mentioned this to the front desk. Again, I wasn’t expecting anything (because I didn’t complain so much as state the problem) but they rectified the situation with an apology and a smile. It was the right way to do business.

The staff here are truly 5 star! We used this hotel for our wedding guest rooms and I cannot say thank you enough to the team here. Sonya, Kathy, Pauline are true gems, these ladies are amazing! They were always so eager to help and ensure all of our needs were met, they were quick to action and always had a smile on their faces.
If you book 10 or more rooms you can have a free shuttle to Mt. Woodson Castle for your wedding. The shuttle driver was fabulous and on time.
The rooms and grounds are clean, rooms are a great size especially when your prepping for a wedding. The pool and jacuzzi are average size, but clean and open until 11. Breakfast has a lot of options and its included in your room rate!

This is the location that made me fall in love with the SpringHill Suites brand. The staff here really stand out. The hotel itself is typical of this brand; easy-​in and easy-​out with great breakfast offerings and comfortable rooms.

Great, simple, well kept hotel in Scripps/​Poway area. The gal at the reception desk Saturday afternoon at about 11:00 was so friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the wonderful customer service.
The room was the perfect for a one night stay for a friends wedding. There was a small desk area, counter with mini fridge, a couch, a 30 – 40 inch flat screen tv atop a dresser that could be turned towards the bed or the couch for convenience.
The queen bed was comfortable and clean.
Three stars because the bathroom
area was very small and contained the one and only mirror. It was difficult to do my hair and makeup and get dressed while giving my boyfriend time to get ready as well. Also the tub/​shower could have been cleaner.
However all and all I would recommended the hotel to friends wishing to stay in that specific area, and I really appreciated the level of customer service.

I would gave them 0 star if I could.
Really poor customer service, staff are rude and they tell you one thing, the other person walks up and say exactly the opposite.
The rooms are clean but there is the constant loud freeway noise in the background.
Do NOT stay here. You can pay the exact same price and stay in Rancho Bernardo or in Poway.

The staff is what really made this hotel a five star. It was an average Marriott spin-​off with your normal accommodations. The outdoor pool and spa were average sized.
The jacuzzi king suite is well worth the extra $ 10. Literally the same room just add the hot tub… we speak with experience as we tried one of each.
They did have a great breakfast. Hot eggs and rice. Good oatmeal fixings. Lots of options! This was a big perk.
The staff was just so genuinely helpful. They seemed sincerely interested in making sure this was a positive stay. Always willing to go the extra mile. That’s not something a corporate store gets often… and the staff and managers need to be commended.

Hotel was clean and the staff was helpful. They provided dinner recommendations and extra towels when our large group needed them. They also programed our keys so they opened both our rooms — SO convenient! We’d spent the whole trip trying to keep track of which key went to which room. Problem solved thanks to the helpfulness of the hotel desk here.
We all enjoyed the breakfast. There were good, fresh options like spinach and edible oatmeal.
Pool was small, but in the sun during the afternoon/​evening.
This hotel is a little out of the way from San Diego attractions, but we perfectly fine for our group. Not to mention, a great deal (~$ 111/​room) for six adults in a room.

Stayed here because we had a free night at a Marriott hotel and decided San Diego would be a nice getaway for a night.
Don’t have many complaints.
Kind of far from downtown and old town.
Hotel is kind of dated but is clean and the room had plenty of space.
Our room had a nice little couch and sink with fridge.
The restroom was really small and to me, very out dated.
The whole restroom could be renovated.
You have a small space to enter/​exit shower without falling over the toilet.
And if you getting ready where the sink/​mirror is and someone comes out of the rest room they are going to hit you with the door.
Right next to freeway, so kind of noisy.
Plus side it’s in a parking lot where a chilies, Wendy’s and gas station is located. Other than that you have to drive pretty far for anything else.
They also have complimentary breakfast.

Traveled down to San Diego to support my friends at their softball tournament. Of course I wanted a comfortable place to stay and SpringHill Suites fit the bill. They have super-​comfortable beds and the décor is designed to give that fluid, airy feel.
Equipped with mini-​kitchens and spacious living areas help add to the ambiance you can only experience at home. Now with all the niceties aside, I was a bit disappointed with a few things.
Unfortunately my room had a pest problem, ants to be exact. I couldn’t keep food in the room and it appears they were coming in through the air conditioning unit. A call to the front desk resulted in a quick response of one of their employees coming in to spray however the gentleman was a bit unprofessional and short in his mannerisms. Secondly, the included breakfast lacked one simple thing, taste. I’ve had breakfast buffets in other chains and didn’t question taste. Lastly, they weren’t too organized on their billing practices in the way of dropping off those end-​of-​stay invoices. Some invoices were left at the wrong rooms according to my friends.
All in all it was good and I’d come back again just as a rest spot if nothing else pans out.

Typical lower end business class hotel. The service is nothing special, breakfast is terrible. Freeway access is good, and the complimentary Wall Street Journal is nice. The «fitness center» is an incredibly cramped room adjacent to the outdoor pool. It is acceptable if you are the only person working out in there.
Here’s the best advice I can give if you have to stay here. Make sure that you do not have a room next to the elevator. It runs all day and all night, and you can hear it through your bathroom wall. If you are forced to stay in a room adjacent to the elevator, switch immediately or have them put you up in their sister hotel, the Residence Inn next door.
This hotel is what it is.

I recently stayed here while on a business trip in San Diego and I have to say, I enjoyed myself. Although it’s not in the heart of downtown San Diego, it’s perfect if you’re looking for something a little further North. The room was really nice — had a mini fridge, a couch, plenty of space, and beautiful décor. The bed was super comfortable, and you have a great view of the mountains in any direction.
There is a decent amount of restaurants and businesses in the area including Firewood (great drink specials), Rubios, sushi, etc… There’s also a grocery store a couple lights up as well as a CVS if you have any needs.
Their staff was super friendly. They had a great complimentary breakfast — from cereal, to fruit, to waffle maker, to oatmeal — you can definitely find something here. I wasn’t able to use the pool but I did have a view from my room. Pretty small but it wasn’t really packed so I don’t think you’d have a hard time finding a seat. They also have a gym — typical hotel gym… not too many machines so get in there early.
Overall enjoyed my stay here — would definitely come back in the future.
