STAR CPR & First Aid Training

I took my BLS for Healthcare Providers renewal class with STAR CPR on 6÷26÷15. I was able to register and pay for the class the day before and I chose their Chula Vista class location they offered off Bonita Road. (it’s closer to me and I needed renewal before July hit) Our instructor was Jessica and I thought she was GREAT! She’s very lively and goes over everything you need to know in a way that’s easy to remember. You get to do hands on return demonstrations as a group/​in partners. She also goes over real life scenarios or any «real life» problems you can possibly encounter. It was an overall very informative and entertaining course, not boring and it went by quick. Will definitely be coming back when it’s time to renew again and highly recommend to anyone looking to get their BLS
PS they have an option for you to order the textbook for $ 15. I thought we needed it so I ordered it when I registered online, but I think it’s more just for personal use. It’s good to have to look back at for info. but i personally don’t think it was necessary. some people in the class didn’t even have one. If anything, bring a notepad and pen. take notes.

My coresidents and I wanted to renew our BLS and PALS before the end of our program so we contacted Star. When we first started residency 2 years ago our director hired them to come in and do a private course and it was great. Of course these aren’t the most exhilarating topics out there but the people at Star are great at catering to their customers needs and knowledge levels.
We were a smaller group this time so in order to bring down the cost we did the course at their facility. The facility is pleasant and centrally located in mission valley. They also have coffee and water available throughout the course which is great.
They went through the course in a timely manner, made it interactive and stressed what we needed to know for our daily practice.
A great experience. I would highly recommend them.

Once I finished my first Yoga Teacher Training program, I knew that I wanted to be CPR certified (and many places require it as part of you teaching at their location). Because of my schedule, I took advantage of Star CPR’s online course option. The online course was very detailed and easy-​to-​follow. While I didn’t have the advantage of testing out the moves on a test dummy (which they always have available at the in-​person classes), I was able to go at my own pace and review the info as often as I wanted to. You do have to schedule a time to take an in-​person test to become certified. Scheduling the test was easy and they knew I was coming when I got there. The test took less than 5 minutes and directly reflected the info covered in the online program.

Ladies, I’m now certified to give mouth to mouth resuscitation! Kidding.
Jokes aside, after my 5 year old niece was choking on a goldfish cracker I was the only one around to help her. With basic knowledge of CPR that I learned randomly around, I was able to stop my niece from further choking. 5 minutes after that incident I decided it was time to properly train for Basic Life Saving techniques.
The cost was about $ 65 for a 4hr class. You receive a text book and a Certification card for BLS (CPR & AED). The instructor was Debbie from «The CPR Lady Inc» and the location chosen was in Mira Mesa. Only about half the registered attendees showed up so class was a bit shorter. This class is good for you even if you are a non health care provider or don’t have a health profession background. Debbie was very thorough with the information and very instructive when it came to demonstrations. She was also helpful in answering questions to issues not pertaining to the test.
Overall the class was very simple, informative and far from boring.

I took this class two years ago and just took it again to renew. Excellent teacher. Excellent intruction. The CPR Lady has everything up to date from the American Heart Association. In this class you learn everything you need to know.

As a healthcare professional, I am required to keep my certifications up-​to-​date. It’s a pain when the two year mark comes and it is time to renew but as anyone in the field knows… it’s something we just need to get done.
I first discovered Star CPR when I decided to get my ACLS cert 2 years ago, when I was still fairly new to the profession of being a Registered Nurse. The class was structured classroom style with PowerPoint presentation, video, skills demonstrations and all… perfect for prepping my nervous self for the test portion. Plus I got to renew my BLS at the same time by just paying the a reduced fee (than if I were to take the class separately) and taking the exam portion… no wasting more hours in a class to do so!
So when it came time to renew both my certifications I knew I would be going through Star CPR again. Not only is it easy to scheduled and pay online but they have various locations classes are held at throughout San Diego. Plus, prices are comparable to if not less than others in the area.
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. First time students need not be intimidated regarding the certification process. The staff really does help in ensuring students understand the algorithms and how to react in a real-​life emergency situation.
I highly recommend this company for any professional needed AHA certification. –BLS, ACLS, PALS, and layman CPR are all offered. Some even online so you just schedule your in person skills test.
