Infant Swimming Resource™ is the safest provider of Self-​Rescue™ swimming lessons for children 6 months to 6 years of age. Going beyond traditional swim instruction, ISR teaches children how to survive in the water.

For more than 40 years, Infant Swimming Resource, (ISR) has been teaching infants and children critical Self-​Rescue skills — giving children the competence and confidence to safely enjoy the water. ISR’s technique teaches babies from 6 months to 6 years of age to save themselves if they were to end up in the water alone.

Each lesson is uniquely tailored to your child’s needs. Because, every child learns at his or her own pace, your child will be gently guided through each skill level.

History

Established in 1966.

For the last 45 years, ISR’s hands-​on instruction technique has been researched and developed to offer a proven system for safely teaching your child the skills needed to confidently enjoy time in the water, while also learning skills to keep him or her safe. ISR has safely delivered over 7 million lessons teaching water safety Self-​Rescue skills to more than 200,000 infants and toddlers and has educated parents and medical experts nationwide on water safety techniques and proven instruction methods. To date, ISR has 788 documented cases of children using ISR techniques to save themselves from drowning.

ISR instructors are the most highly trained and qualified instructors in any swimming program in the country and must undergo strict re-​certification testing annually. Each instructor is academically trained and tested in areas such as child psychology, physiology, anatomy and and behavioral science to provide the safest lesson possible for your child. As a Certified ISR Instructor, I understand the extreme danger that the many bodies of water in the Greater San Diego area, including the ocean, the bay, rivers and pools can be for infants and children. Drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death in California for infants and young children. These statistics are alarming, but fortunately drowning is a preventable tragedy. This is a constant driving force motivating me to teach children so that they have a chance at survival in the water if they do enter on their own. I have a BS in Marine Biology from Florida Atlantic University and I previously taught science and math to 4 – 12 grade before becoming an ISR instructor. I am a certified Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) instructor, am certified in Infant/​Child and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid, a certified Biology teacher and a certified Pre-​Postnatal Exercise Specialist. I also have an extensive knowledge of behavioral science. I have taught over 100 students ISR’s self-​rescue skills!
