OK … I finally went back. The breakfast sandwich/drink prices seem to have stabilized and are now in line with other Subways. Nice bonus: the morning server who was there for years and was perpetually sour has left … replaced with smiling, polite, and helpful servers. This matters a lot, and I’ll come back more often.

I think the current review of 2.5 stars is about right. There are so many subways around, but I am not sure how they all survive! They are an ok option, but I don’t know why you would go there with so many other good options in San Diego. I only go there because people give me gift cards so it’s tough to turn down free food. The bread options and sandwiches look good but they are lacking on the quality of ingredients. The meat and cheese is already pre cut versus a place like Jersey Mike’s the meat is freshly sliced right in front of you. You will also smell like the bread for the rest of the day so be prepared.

As far as Subways go, this location is your standard sandwich shop. But honestly, I’d rate Subways as a whole at two stars and I’d choose practically any sandwich shop over a Subway. I just feel like there are better options out there, such as Which Wich or Jersey Mike’s. Unfortunately, in this specific location, this is the only sandwich shop within a three mile or so distance so when I’m in the area, I don’t have much of choice without driving ten minutes to Which Wich in the Del Mar Highlands. I always order the turkey sandwich with swiss on herb and cheese. Sometimes the sandwich has a decent ratio of ingredients but more often than not, it has too much of something and not enough of something else.

In general, I go back and forth on Subway. Decent sandwiches at good prices, but I get into sandwich moods. Sometimes I like Subway, sometimes Quiznos, sometimes a local place. It probably has to do with solar cycles or something. Anyway, extra kudos to the them for being one of the first fast food chains to try and not make America any fatter than it already is. This particular location has a poor layout. In an effort to provide as much seating as possible they put small tables along the sandwich production line, making it impossible for a line to form and move smoothly during lunch rush. And don’t even think of sitting at those tables during peak meal times, unless you like staring at crotches and butts while you nosh on your deli meats. Trying to get from the door to the back of the line is like trying to get out of a crowded elevator. No special love for the parking situation either. There’s usually precisely one spot on this half of the shopping center at meal times, forcing you to circle like a great white or resign yourself to the ample parking around the corner of the shops by the dog park. The staff themselves are friendly and efficient and the food is consistent and good. And that’s about all I have to say about that.

I love subway and this place is no different. Solid sandwiches that fill you up when you are hungry and are relatively healthy without breaking the bank. However, this isn’t board and brew or cornerhouse and isn’t gourmet.

I will never ever return to this Subway again. The employees that work here lack customer service and a smile. Very disappointed.

This Subway has always blown my mind compared to any other Subway. I work near here, and I only get 30 minutes for lunch, so I have to rush in and get out. Every time I’ve come in, the employees are working like a polished machine. I was nervous once because the line was out the door, but they worked so well together they had me through the line in about 5 minutes. Very impressive!!!

First, let me start out by saying that I used to have a brother who worked at Subway, and he hated it. I get it — working in food service can really suck. I really get it. Ok, here goes: I gave this Subway 3 starts for the following reasons: They always have all the ingredients in stock(+1), the sandwiches are always pretty full of the good stuff(+1), and it’s convenient and fast so I don’t waste my miniscule 1 hour lunch break waiting for a sandwich(+1). HOWEVER, just beware of the one employee that absolutely hates his/her job. Seriously, I’ve never gotten a nice comment, smile, etc. Not that I expect it, but come on, we all have to pretend to be nice at one point throughout the day. I feel like everytime I go in, I s/he just chucks my sandwich at me. Just steer clear of that employee, and you should make it out just fine.

Decent. A soild 4 * performer. Nothing special to push it to the 5 * level. Generally OK service. The staff is neither too excited nor too hateful to be there. No food poisoning yet — which is always a plus. Outdoor seating both in front of the restaurant, inside the restaurant, and at the food court a few feet away. Near the new dog park. Subway in general is OK food at accellerated prices, but it gets the job done and the prices are on par with the Vons Deli nearby.
