History
Established in 2001.
I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from the University of San Diego and am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist offering individual and couples therapy. I also hold two bachelor’s degrees in the fields of Comparative World Religion and Philosophy and have minored in both Psychology and Sociology. I believe my diverse education contributes to give breadth and richness to my counseling style. A solid academic education coupled with diverse life experience have contributed to the insightful and challenging form of therapy I offer. I work hard to discern the unique needs of each of my clients, thereby creating an environment which is comfortable and conducive to growth and discovery.
Aside from my Masters degree, I was required to have 3000 supervised hours of experience before passing two state exams to gain my California license of Marriage & Family Therapy. I am registered MFT with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Meet the Business Owner
Sylvia F.
Business Owner
I’m a San Diego native and had the great opportunity to grow up at the beach when it was safe for kids to run around. After high school, I attended college and obtained two Bachelor’s and two minor degrees. I then went overseas to Japan and taught English as a Second Language. Upon returning from Japan, I searched for a permanent career that would allow me to utilize my passions. After investigating the field of Counseling, I knew it was a good fit.
I applied to USD and was accepted into their Master’s program for Marriage & Family Therapy. Upon graduating from USD in 1999, I worked on accruing the 3000 hours of experience needed to test for licensure as a California MFT while interning in private practice and at Scripps Mercy Hospital. When I became a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFC 43 147) I expanded my practice and moved to my current Mission Valley office.
I find the field of counseling a rewarding profession as I’m able to use all my educational and life experience
