Please visit Tasty Bakery if you want to order cakes. I’ve been a customer since it opened and i have never been disappointing with their birthday cakes. I would avoid the chocolate but vanilla and coffee cakes are a must. I always custom order a Napoleon sheet cake. Basically, its two layers of vanilla cake separated by fruit(your choice) and a layer of crispy napoleon. The cake is then topped with a variety of fresh fruit and fresh cream(its not frosting and not quite as thick or rich as butter cream). Their cake also stores well.

I love the Pa Te So! Very flaky fresh meat pastry. It’s like a Vietnamese version of expanada.

Great little Asian bakery. The pork pies in puff pastry are very tasty and only $ 1.50 each! They also have different variations of BBQ pork buns, sweets, cakes, boba drinks, snow ice creations, etc. Only drawback may be that on the weekends, the parking lot gets pretty cramped.

It’s nice to know I can find Vietnamese style pastries in San Diego where everything is packaged and you chose which pastries to your liking. Tried the Spongecake and Taro Cheesecake and both did not disappoint. We’ll come back to try something else next time.

recently purchased a quarter sheet chinese style cake for my daughters graduation. a lightly sweetened cake with fresh strawberries and mangoes on the inside. almonds and fresh fruits on the outside. delish! simply ordered the cake four days before pick up over the phone. it was fresh and exactly what i ordered. recommend that the cake should be eaten the day it is picked up because the cake is very light and the fruits weight tends to flatten the cake ;) yummy!

Best Asian cakes! I love how their cakes are fluffy and their ‘icing’ are light and not too sweet. Order their cakes with strawberries inside and fruits on top and you won’t regret it!

Stopped by our of curiosity and got some shortbread cookies. They are super super cheap. 4 fruit shortbread cookies for $ 1 or 3 chocolate dipped shortbread for $ 1. They are quite dry. Even with coffee, they just don’t make the cut for me.

The birthday cake was yummy… We always order cake before we come to get it. New and fresh, we can order any flavors. The best things is coconut, pineapple or strawberry. However, they just do the basic simple style that they have. Hope they can help more cake style …

Awesome pastries and sweet buns! They top 99 Ranch by a mile stone. She’s not skimpy on the filling and it’s not too doughy. A little pricy but I don’t mind because the quality is worth it. It’s a hidden treasure if you ask me! My favorite bakery in San Diego so far

My biggest concern about this place was the cleanliness. When I first walked in, I noticed a lot of flies near the baked goods(they are out in the open, wrapped in plastic, not behind a glass mirror). The price was pretty descent(nothing over $ 2 unless you count a full sized cake). The man who helped me didn’t seem to understand my questions. The quality of the cake wasn’t outstanding, but I was pleased about how moist it was(custard bread). Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here.

I’ve only ever gotten their cakes here, so this review is about that. Nothing too special aside from a decent price for a decent stereotypical asian cake. Sometimes, for someone’s birthday at the office, we order a cake from here. What I did love [and thus the fourth star] was the fact that they accommodated my request to decorate a round cake like the Target logo for a friend’s birthday. She’s practically a walking Target commercial. The cake is really light and not too sweet. If I’m ever craving for this kind of cake, I’m glad I don’t have to drive all the way to LA for it!

I LOVE baked goods and would be obese if I didn’t have self control which is why it’s so rare that I would give such a crap rating to a bakery. I wanted to like this place because they offer a couple of my favorite Chinese bakery items since I was a kid — char siu bao and sponge cakes. As you can see from my photo, the baked char siu bao looks sickly as the meager amount of meat has sunk to the bottom of the bun — the meat nor the bread were impressive — seriously, this bao makes me sad just looking at it. The steamed version was just as pathetic in terms of meat quantity and the quality was poor as well with more fat than muscle. The sponge cake wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the traditional Chinese light and fluffy cake. It was more dense than usual and I prefer getting both of these items from 99 Ranch. The service is pretty stale as well. I stopped and bought char siu baos three days a week, every week for several months after work since it was the only Asian bakery open when I got off night shift. The same, flat affect man worked every day and never once greeted me or thanked me for my business. I don’t believe in giving one star unless the place poisons me or has roaches, so two stars it is.

I’ve only took a peek inside this bakery once while waiting to eat at International Seafood Restaurant a while back. It’s a really small place with mainly buns and toast. I tried their taro toast and it’s pretty good– I think the ones from the 99 Ranch bakery is a little better.

The man who wanted to take our order seemed ill, and was also hard to communicate with. He didn’t understand my questions. The woman who normally works in the front had already disappeared into the back. Please get well soon, sir, as it didn’t seem like a good day for us to order food. On my previous visit, the woman had waited on us, and she she was very helpful. She explained that they make their Boba tea drinks from fresh brewed tea, and their coffee drinks aren’t made from a powder, either, as they brew the coffee too. I had really enjoyed my drinks on my previous visit. That’s why I returned. I like this little bakery, and it appears to be family run, as far as I can tell. Hopefully things will work out better on my next visit in the future.

If I could give this bakery 3.7 stars I would. The items here tend to be hit and miss. If you get the items when it’s fresh from the oven, they tend to be quite good, especially the cakes. They are light, moist, and not overly sweet. I have a sweet tooth, but not when desserts are overly sweet. I dig that they use fresh whip cream — always a plus in my book. The selection is limited. However, I do enjoy my Asian pastries. It’s a good fix if you’re in the area. The prices are super reasonable.

I was a bit apprehensive trying this place after the poor reviews. I decided to try it as I have had their sponge cake before and I liked them. One thing I love is visiting a bakery in the morning when everything is fresh so I was looking forward to some good fresh stuff at 10am. When I went inside I didn’t get any yummy bakery aroma. The lotus sun cake I got was very dry and my senses were telling me it had been sitting around for a day or two. Taste was pretty bland with a bit of staleness. The pineapple bun was a bit better. My senses tell me it was only sitting around for a day. It had a bit of the pineapple flavor I was expecting but it was still not good. The steamed bao has some odd flavor which was not good. The baked bao was ok but I’ve had better. This bakery was very disappointing and I much prefer the bakery at Ranch 99. Hong Kong BBQ is a much better place to get bao.
