Cute establishment! Well organized and staffed with friendly people, constantly checking on us, and personable upon check-​out.
Hahaha… I did not olive oil could be used for more than just cooking (ex. soaps). Great variety of cooking olive oils in stock. Also appreciated the cooking herbs/​salts/​spices and olives in stock.
I spent around $ 30 for a bottle of Basil Olive Oil and jar of Garden Herb Salt. Thanks for the tip about seasoning taco meat with the salt!

Usually I would give it a 5 star rating but the cashier, Hannah, kept imputing my last name down for membership lookup and insisted we do not have the membership. After about 15 mins she finally found it but it was just aggravating to being told I do not have a membership!

I love shopping in old town. This place is great. They usually can give you samples of anything you want to try. I ended up spending like 60 dollars here but it was worth it. My fav is the blood orange. The olive tapanade is also awesome. I think I ate the whole jar like in two weeks. Good stuff I’m telling you. The employess are all friendly. The store is always very clean and in order …

i only ran in for one item as a gift, so can’t comment on the store as a whole, but…
–conveniently located in old town (although a little tricky to find when you get there); free parking

(the service was a touch slow since there was only one cashier and the person infront of me was getting five separate items gift wrapped… but that’s to be expected in a small, independent store and it was Christmas time)

I’m reserving one star because the person I got the item for hasn’t tried it yet, so I can’t comment on the quality.
I will definitely have to come back to explore the store and its items further.

This place was great! Stopped in here during the Day of the Dead festival! Wasn’t too busy in the tasting area so we headed over. This place has great products! The blood orange oil and hatch chili vinegar were AMAZING together! The basil oil was also delicious! I could image a million things I could do with these delicious items. The ladies behind the counter were great and very helpful with tasting combinations. This place also had lots of little sauces and dips that would make great gifts. When asked which food pairings would go well with different oil and vinegar combos these ladies were full of answers! It was absolutely awesome! I can’t wait to come back and purchase a few items next time I’m around that shopping area!

I really needed a good light x virgin oil for drizzling — not general cooking. They have it along with several flavored (infused) oils.

Who knew there was more than one version of olive oil? My husband and I stumbled inside this place on one of our date nights and decided to try the olive oil tasting that they do. It was definitely an all-​new experience for both of us. They have a huge selection of their own olive oils and the staff are very knowledgable about each one and how they should be used in cooking.

YESSSS! Local San Diego goods that I can bring home for my pet sitters. They actually do olive oil tastings where a dude behind the counter pairs different flavored olive oils (all natural by the way) with different vinegars. I bought an olive oil tasting package and a vinegar tasting package and paired one OO with one of the vinegars. The pairings they suggest are all interesting and all quite tasty. I love that they are a family owned operation and that that their olive oil is made close by. None of this possible adulterated oil you are sure to get when at the grocery.
My favorite pairing was the citrus olive oil (whole oranges were thrown into the press with the olives) and Vanilla & Fig Balsamic Vinegar. This pairing will be fantastic over some vanilla ice cream.

This place is my new obsession. It’s a wonderful little store that sells all types of herbs, salts, and of course… olive oil (even olive oil lotion for your hands, which I am thinking about going back and buying since I’ve been reading about the dermatological benefits of olive oil recently)!
Call me uncultured, but I had no idea that there were so many different kinds of salt! It was super fun going around trying each flavor. I was particularly partial to the pink one (I forgot the name)…each grain packed a punch but melted almost as soon as you tasted it. To me, salt is just salt, though… I couldn’t imagine paying more than my usual for it.
Olive oil is a different story!!! I fell in love with EVOO during the tasting. Again, I must be uncultured as I had no idea that olive oil tasting was a thing! We started off with regular olive oil and progressed to more exotic flavors paired with various balsamics. Some of my favorites included the early harvest olive oil (which comes from pressing olives that haven’t fully ripened, lending the oil a refreshing and grassy taste) and the garlic olive oil (very garlic-​y and I figured it was perfect for cooking with instead of having to peel and mince garlic, so I bought it). The vanilla & fig balsamic was also really amazing (I was sooo tempted to buy it) and made a stunning pair with the blood orange olive oil. The woman guiding us through the tasting was so sweet and didn’t pressure us at all to buy. And why should she? The olive oils sell themselves! The only downside to the tasting is that you do feel kind of gross if you drink all the oil they offer you (which I didn’t, but I still felt a little gross). It would have helped if they provided bread or something. Too bad Temecula Olive Oil doesn’t make or sell artisan bread. Perhaps they could find some good foods that go well with their oils, buy them, include samples in the tastings, and sell them in stores at a markup. I’m sure lots of people would go for it. I definitely would have since all the random breads I have bought so far at Vons do not do the olive oils we bought justice! Bread picking is difficult!!!
TOOC also sells two pre-​made olive oil and vinegar mixes: «Just Dip It» and «Just Dress it!» Both are slightly watered down compared to the company’s regular olive oils (30 calories less per tablespoon too). I loved both but my boyfriend was madly in love with «Just Dip It» so we bought a bottle. We have eaten bread with it every day since and it is SO good. «Just Dip It» includes balsamic vinegar, garlic, and red chili pepper flakes (adds flavor but not to the point where it’s spicy). We were told it could work as a marinade for meats as well as drizzled over salads or pastas. «Just Dress It» has a sunnier profile, with chardonnay vinegar, sun-​dried tomatoes, basil, and oregano. I see it more as something that would go on salads and may not be as versatile as Just Dip It, but I really did love it and hope to buy it next time.
I could wax poetic about everything else I tried here but I think their website does a better job of explaining (plus, you get to see their seasonal flavors too, which I didn’t try since some of them sounded pretty intense):

–California Balsamic Bianco with Honey — the honey is from their own ranch!
–Their spicy salt is actually spicy!
The Okay:
–California Balsamico Bianco Oo La Pomegranate — Made With Fresh California Pomegranates — Citrusy, I could live without.
–Fresh Basil Olive Oil — Tasted like peppermint olive oil
–Hickory Smoked Olive Oil — You can definitely taste the smoke. Would be great on meats.
–Late harvest Olive oil– buttery and delicate.
Awful:
The Blood Orange olive oil– It tasted like dish soap.
The elderly lady who tended to us in the tasting was super nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. With every sample, she told us what pairs best with different types of food.
I ended up getting a Flavored Vinegar Sampler Pack which contains Vanilla & Fig Balsamic Vinegar (real reason why I got the sampler), California Balsamic Bianco with Honey, and California Balsamico Bianco Oo La Pomegranate.

Went here to get gifts for out of town executives attending our annual investors meeting. The staff was friendly, went out of their way to accomodate me and did a great job coordinating the shipping of the gifts, the gift wrapping and following up with me after.
The quality of their oils is veyr high, and come in many great flavors (which you can sample in store), the packaging is great and they offer free shipping if you spend $ 100. They even supply you with tracking numbers of the shipments so you can see when they shipped and when they arrived.
Great place to go for a unique gift –especially for that person who probably has everything.

Loving the Local GOODS! And this is good!
Go for a tasting and enjoy yourself. No, they don’t give you bread, they want you to take the products. Blood Orange Olive Oil is a real delight of the senses; I like to awaken all of the senses when cooking. While the taste of this isn’t as strong as the smell it works well. I also opted for the Vanilla and Fig balsamic. These two will work very well together on fresh spring/​summer treats.

I LOVE olive oil, so when we happened to be in Old Town with my friend, she took us here. There are not very many places you can actually taste oil, so when you find them, it’s a real treat.
The nice lady helping us let us sample their whole line. The blood orange oil and fig balsamic is totally amazing. Hubby really enjoyed the garlic olive oil. They were all fantastic.
We ended up buying a few. They have sample packs that include 3 olive oils and 3 balsamic vinegar. Good deal.
Really friendly people work here and during checkout they asked if we were taking a plane home. We said yes, and they wrapped our oils in cardboard and tissue paper. Hooray! It will most likely make it home now instead of exploding in my bag!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of olive oil/​balsamic. It’s a super fun experience and you’ll taste things you probably won’t on a normal basis!

FUN! The lady was extremely well rehearsed in her olive oil tasting leading. Never in my life I thought I would be sipping olive oil and get amazed at what differences honey/​vinegar make when added to oil. There were lots of flavors — smoked olive oil + vinegar = BBQ in your mouth! Unfortunately, the basil was out for the season.
We purchased a bottle of pre-​mixed add-​to-​all ($ 19). It is all delish. But, I am a bit torn about the suction tip (purchased for $ 1.50) extra. The sales lady demonstrated a nifty use. But, it seems like the sun-​dried tomato paste seems to clog the narrowed tip…

If olive oil’s what you want, this is the place! It’s in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park area. They also carry other items made from olivee oil, such as soaps, lotions, olives in different flavored olive oil.
They offered free samples, which I didn’t try. I bought a jar of spicy garlic (green) olives for $ 7.99 that have good flavor, but are very salty, so you probably don’t wan to eat too many in one sitting.

Though not in Temecula, this was a fun FREE place for sampling and gift shopping. The product is also superior, so I see no reason why not to stop here.
Like with Hot Licks a few doors down, this place has great gift options. Not just the oil, but higher end jarred jams, seasoning, relishes, and various pickled things.
— Soap, they sell soap everywhere in Old Town. If this is your first stop, you may want to shop around first.
— They sell Himalayan salt lamps.
— You’ll see other places sell this same type of stuff but the stuff here is «gift quality»
— Parking in Old Town stinks. Try parking at the Caltrans lot (end of Juan and Taylor) and walk up Juan to the shops. It will save you a ton of stress.

I had walked by the Temecula location before and I always wanted to go back and try it, so I was super excited when we came across the San Diego store!
I was prepared to pay $ 5 or so for tasting, but it was free. Yay! My BF and I tried all the oils, from classic Olive Oil to Garlic to Basil to Vanilla. All of them were really good, and it was very interesting how they all tasted exactly like whatever ingredient they were made of.
The server was super sweet and you could tell Olive Oil was truly a passion for him. He explained all of the oils in detail to us and was genuinely concerned about what we thought of each of them.
I ended up buying a bottle of Garlic oil to cook with. As I was paying, they told us about their farm in Temecula and how you can go tour it. Perhaps I will do that next time I am out wine tasting!
